well my gf bought a 96 grand am and for her b-day i'm going to do a small set-up. this set-up will include an alpine cde-9881 w/ipod interface cable, alpine mrp m450 mono amp, 4guage power/ground w/60amp inline fuse, swr1242d (type r 12"), and a 1.49 cu. ft. vented box. not bad for a first system, really not bad for a small set-up. i know w/ the type r i could go w/ a bigger amp but i'm working w/ what i have left over from old set-ups in my cars. the only things i had to get was the h.u. and the box. she doesn't need much considering my system gets turned down when she gets in my lincoln lol. do you guys think this will be a decent set-up?

I got 2 12" L7s from a guy the other day. I took them inside to check em out and there is like pillow stuffing in the aeroport. Is that supposed to be there??

Yes i putting the finishing touches on my system thanks to all of the ssa members my question is this will a eq do any good for my system or is it just a waste of money i need the pros and cons. Also my final question is the pros and cons of not having any rear deck speakers i was to by some members to get rid of them which i did i can tell the difference but is that the right move. Ok guys i need major help on a box design i am getting a SSA Xcon 15 and i am going to need to fit it into a single cab truck i talked to Aaron and he said the mounting depth of the sub is 8 and 3 4ths deep and my seats move separately so i can build a custom box. what do you guys think i should do. just push the passenger seat up a bit and run a box all the way across at a different depth so my seat could stay where it is what do you guys think i need some ideas please. Hey there everyone....I have a few friends who do a little free "tweak and test" thing for SPL every couple weeks. The next one is Saturday, August 20th (weather permitting of course.) It will be from 4pm-9pm at the Brunswick car show. The city holds a car show/crusin gig every Saturday at Laurel Square Shopping Center. They have their own space to do test and tune, just look for the EZ-UP tent and some loud cars around it. The address is 1733 Pearl Road, Brunswick Ohio 44212. It's about 18 miles south of Cleveland and about 20 miles north of Akron. Of course its free. I am going to be installing a factory batter in the trunk. I have three choices for Tray's. I'm not really sure what the difference is or which one I should get. I'm assuming more Amp hours is better. After looking at this stuff I'm actually thinking It might come with a battery? may not be size related. Why does my usb port thumb drive sound better then a cd burned off the same computer?

so im getting a brand new rf power hx2 15 thats been sitting since it was bought because the guy bought 2 of them years ago and only used one. i also found a hifonics bxi2010 bnib never been hooked up for $180....i want the hifonics but the guy with the sub has a power acoustik bamf 5500 which should i get? and im thinkin of taking my backseat out and walling between the cab and trunk. now the question about that is should i go sealed or ported? im looking more towards spl then sq any advice will be very appreciated. im taking my time putting this setup in so its done right and not just thrown together like my last one

My buddy wants to know how he can wall his ford ranger with 15s He has a 2003 Ford Ranger Ext Cab 4x4 lifted 5" and 33" Nitto Terra Grapplers. He already took out his rear seats and stuff and has a custom box tuned to 36hz with a 12" Fi Q on a SAE 1000. He's ready to upgrade.. He just wants an idea. Hes budget-minded so nothing too expensive I suggested 4 SA 15s on two SAZ 1500. Or one SAZ 3000. He hasn't upgraded his alternator but he has done the big 3 and has 2 kinetik HC 2400s with 1/0 kicker wiring on everything. His question is what's a good budget wall for his truck. Let's say budget at $5000. Thanks !

first time posting. I been lookin around this site a while and Im glad i found it. Well im redo the whole system in my car. And i wanted to do a 3 way active for my front stage. I a noob when it comes to goin active. But i wanted to do maybe a DD MD6.5, rainbow mr 100, and a jl tweeter. I still dont know wat amps I AM A be using but does this sound like a good set up so far? I AM A be running a 12 BTL off a sundown saz-3000d. And i listen to all types of music but mostly rap, if that helps. any advice is welcomed

Any recommendations for a MDF paint primer? I would prefer the typical gray color of primers. I've heard that you need a special primer, but I wasn't sure. I did a search but most places said use primer as a general term and didn't specify a certain kind of primer or anything. I need know to smooth out and prime my old DCON boxes and also some SSA logo cutouts. Thanks

Since I got back into car audio I have stayed away from the so called "Mainstream" brands when it came to my amplifiers and subwoofers. What sold me on the smaller companies was the customer service and the ability to talk to the owner/owners either through the forums, email or direct phone call. I think we all know what forum all these great companies are a part of.... :bigclap: What are the horror stories you have had with companies with poor customer service?
