Some people wanted to see some larger cable so here you go. This is a shot of three-conductor 750MCM next to a 2" IMC coupling. The coupling is 2.5" in diameter so that gives you an idea of how large this stuff is. Picture is misleading though as the cable is actually about 3.1" in diameter. This stuff weighs 18lbs. per foot!!! And here's a shot of 750kcmil next to the three-conductor. This stuff is no joke. It can handle over 10Kamps of current!!! I have some even large stuff, but it was buried on a spool and I couldn't get to it to take some photos. And last but not least, my favorite big'uns!

Why do you use a 50 or 60 hz test tone to set an amp whether then the lowest frequency the given speaker will be producing?

Well my dumb ass forgot to lock my car at school and someone stole my frigging tweeters. Luckily they didn't get into the trunk (I have my trunk release disabled) or doors, and I always take my HU faceplate with me. After looking around online I don't think that I want to pay $200 for the Alpine tweeters. I have read that the are most likely Vifa ring radiator tweeters. I want something that I can drop in their place for hopefully less than what the Alpine tweeters are. The location of the tweeter is at the top of my door panel all of the way up front. I was happy with this location withe the Alpine tweeters. Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

I have ideas about what I am going with but I want to see what others would do in my situation. I want to get as loud as possible in a setup with one battery under the hood. Here is the catch. The battery has already been decided. It is a XS Power D3400. Stock alt. Lets just look at the subwoofer setup. I am keeping my stock mids and highs for now. Also I would like to keep as much cargo space as I can in my small SUV. I will even throw this out there. For the sub box I have about 5 cubes of space I can work with. So basically I am looking for a sub/amp combination that would work with my electrical.

I just recently picked up a 98 F150 extended cab PU, and I have always been curious as too if there is an ideal amount of cone area vs cab space available? I am only planning on putting what ever i can fit in the place behind the drivers seat, so i have room for 2 people to still sit in the back. But i wasn't sure (if i could get it to fit) if 2 10's/12's in a daily ported box? At this point, it is just an idea but i am thinking about an Xcons. I'm looking for more SQ with some output when i really want to turn it up. anyone have experience in a small cab space? I picture that much cone area in such a small cab space to be sloppy sounding. My last rig was a single 12" Q p…

So I found out today that the version of WinIsd I had been using became obsolete ages ago Trying to model a JL Audio 15w0v3 and I'm skeptical of the cone excursion graph it's showing. Considering I modeled the thing in a 15 ft3 box tuned to 15hz I was expected cone excursion to at least get higher than 1.5mm on 500 watts. I feel like I've done something wrong but for the life of me I can't figure it out! I'm confident all the driver parameters I entered were correct.. Any insight as to what foolish thing I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

this might come off as stupid on my part and im just trying to learn as much as i can so please no hate but why does when somebody ask about two different subs people always say there way different goals but theres only 3 goals that i know of deep sq or spl and when you say you want a sub that does one of those people say its 99.9 percent the build if thats true shouldnt you just get the sub with the most motor force and just build the box for what you want

Hey guys, been trying for the last week to get rid of my current equipment to make room for new stuff. I put some ads up, and not one person has been interested, not even any lowballers. lol When I had two Hifonics amplifiers of comparable power for sale last spring I got literally flooded with demand, and I asked just about the same amount of money. Although they were unused. Here's what's for sale. Keep in mind I live in Canada. Not easy to get Fi up here, and Soundstream is not seen often. $300 - 12" Fi BL - Dual 2, Cooling, Flatwind, Daily $300 - Soundstream Tarantula TRX1500D $200 - Soundstream Tarantula TRX2.550 Was thinking about knocking $50 off everything. Let …

Well, i was trying to talk to the 'new guy' at my local audio shop. And we started talking about what we had, and i was telling him i was trying to sell my Type X's to get a Fi Q. Supsrisingly he has actually heard of Fi, but he was very closed minded towards them. ANYWAYS, he ended up telling me he had four Type R's 12" in a ported box, in an Impala like mine! So, i went out to get a demo. Pretty loud i guess, but he was trying to tell me he has hit 154db. Considering that his box looked fairly small for 4 12's i doubted it. I guess im just rattled that people like that can get a job but when i apply i dont even get an interview. >.>

I have a couple questions about setting the gain, and the settings I should be using on my head unit. My setup is a IDA-x100 headunit from alpine. (Pre-Amp is 2volts) My subwoofer is an 15" Q, and amp is a SAE-1200 Sundown. On my headunit, I heard that the subwoofer level should be set to full, 15. But I didn't know what to set the base level at, so I just set it to full, 8. Then I tuned it to 36volts using a dmm, (Thats what the tuning instruction sheet that came with the amp said to tune it too) It sounded good, but I feel with that much power, I should be getting it a little louder. So I put the bass to 0 on the headunit, but then I could turn the amps gain up to maxim…

I am planning to utilize the space under the rear bench of a boat for a sub for listening in open space. I would like to get the most punch with this volume and I'm looking for recommendations. My overall goal is a balance between loud efficient bass and a decent flat response for bass frequencies suitable for most kinds of music. After MDF board thickness, I have an internal space of 3.5 cubic feet to work with. Since this is a boat installation, I assume that it would be advisable to consider an enclosure designed for home use as they are better suited for open space for this application. If I went with two RL-p12's, each would have 1.75 cubic feet available volume. If …

About a month ago I had a local shop wire my car and install a set of components/head unit in my 2011 Malibu. Basically ran all wires to the back for me to put my amps and sub stage in. I installed a fosgate power 400.4 for my forgate t2 components using the passive xo. Couple different sub setups but always the same sundown saz1500. Extra kinetik hc2000 in the back. As of yesterday I'm starting to hear crackling coming from the tweets at about mid volume. Kinda strange because this morning I got in there after sitting all night and I was able to lay into it a little with no problems.. For about 2 minutes then the crackling/fuzz starts coming from the tweets again. Figure…

Some kid was talking smack the other day about my choice of audio equipment. I proceeded to laugh in his face. He mentioned a brand called VIBE made in the UK. I never heard of the brand. I was just wondering what they are all about and if they are a good speaker. Also wondering where I could find a price list. Here is the company's website.
