upgraded to 2 sa12's, 800 watts each. and im not noticing a big big difference in loudness. it shakes everything alot more, and i know im getting more bass. i thought that adding another sub and giving it 300 more rms would be alot louder. when the volume is at 20, i dont notice a difference, but when its at 22 my subs go insane. but my music gets crazy loud too, i was hoping that my subs would overpower the lyrics and music, so i would get nice bass without having absurdly loud singing and whatnot. im wondering if maybe my box isnt great. might sell it and get a jl basswedge for both subs, cause that would not only fit better.. but my single sa sounded great in that box…

Well my dumb ass forgot to lock my car at school and someone stole my frigging tweeters. Luckily they didn't get into the trunk (I have my trunk release disabled) or doors, and I always take my HU faceplate with me. After looking around online I don't think that I want to pay $200 for the Alpine tweeters. I have read that the are most likely Vifa ring radiator tweeters. I want something that I can drop in their place for hopefully less than what the Alpine tweeters are. The location of the tweeter is at the top of my door panel all of the way up front. I was happy with this location withe the Alpine tweeters. Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

  4. As the title says, I hooked up my SSA Icon 12 to 200w today Since my Audioque 1200 doesnt come until Thursday and I noticed a few things... 1. Looks like I will definitely need to buy new speakers and amp them. 2. I severely underestimated this sub. This thing is a monster on only 200w 3. I have a ton of work to do to get rid of the insane rattle going on in the back. This is probably one of the loudest systems ive heard to date and its only on 200w right now. Ive never been so impressed by a single sub on such low wattage ever.

Is it possible to send my SSA XCON dual 1 ohm in for a re-cone and have them reconfigure the sub so it is Dual 2 ohm?

  6. I'm in the market for a new vehicle; and, I'm going to upgrade it. I have questions about today's vehicles: 1. I'm looking at a model that has push button start and factory remote start; what challanges are there when adding a partial or full alarm on it? 2. This model has the full sat radio/navigation/premium head unit and I wanna at least add better bass; what challanges are there in integrating to this head unit?

I just put in a new box in my 1999 jeep grand cherokee and I reattached the back battery, In doing so I noticed my voltage is at an average of 12.6 with little bass. My voltage is going crazy and im not sure what is going on. Normally at full tilt on rock, the voltage plays at 12.8, But now its at 12.2...... My Interior lights are now feeling the power drops and dimming everytime a bass note hits.....as before it wasnt doing that......any ideas?? My alternator is working i had it checked today..... Also might i add that with the bass off my voltage goes from 13.6- to 12.8....with no bass...only mids and highs......wtf?!

I just put a new CM MOJO "catridge" on a motor and im getting some coil rub. I did a second one and it turned out great but i remounted the catridge a few times on the first one and it keeps rubbing on the same side inside the coil. I think its slanted not off center. I mounted some old cartridges i had on the same motor and didnt get any rub so im pretty sure its the new cartridge. Any advice on a fix?

Box for an 18" BL. 44.5" wide, 21.5" tall, and 20" deep. Port is 4.5" wide and 20" tall. Port length is 30" for about 30 hz tune and ~6.7ft^3 after displacements. I've never built a ported box and never had a sub that heavy. I've seen people do "window" bracing like I drew here...think this 2" wide bracing be adequate? The sub will fire up and port back in my Explorer (read that is a general rule to go by), but I can turn the box for rear firing the sub and firing the port up if that works better. Thanks for any thoughts!

I have my amp mounted to the back of my box. It's mounted so that the bottom of my amp is screwed to the back of the box. Is this bad? I was told by a guy yesterday that it can cause internal issues with the amp. Any input?

Hi guys, so I connected a 12" kicker cvr to my hifonics 1000.1D on the bridged terminals on the amp but at the same time I connected a Rockford p3 8" on the two remaining terminals on the amp. I noticed that my kicker isn't hitting as hard. I'm curious to know if the connected could possibly causing me to have a loss of power?

  18. Well, as if two SP4 18's isnt big enough, lol After doing measurements I have enough room for 3, so I just ordered another one. So now I have time to build a new enclosure and not have any down time which is cool. I ordered another Dual 1ohm. So now becomes the question of amp and ohm load choice. After looking at my wiring options I think it will work perfect. For at least a couple months I need to run all three off this one Crescendo BC5500. Which I actually think will be ok for now and get loud. Three dual 1's will wire to a .67ohm load which I think that will be fine if I'm thinking correctly and hopefully put out close to 2000 watts per sub. My electrical is very sta…

Hey guys, i decided to upgrade from my JL 12w0. Decided to go with two sundown sa12's. need some help because im still kinda new to this. 1. the subs are dual 2 ohm. so if i buy an amp, would i wire it to 2 ohm or 1 ohm? 2. Sundown audio recommends 1.75 - 2 cubic feet. to get more out of my subs would i want a smaller box? larger box? or the recommended size? 3. i plan on getting a 1500 watt amplifier so i can send 750 rms per sub, sa12's are highly underrated in rms i heard. i am on a budget so i would like a amplifier thats relatively cheap without sacrificing alot quality. feel free to add anything, im open to all suggestions, but im solid on the subs. just thought i'd…

I have two different brands of speaker wire that are turning green inside the jacket. It is not turning green at the ends just in certain areas of the covered wire. Ive spent two hours googling and just seen multiple forums and websites where it turned into an argument whether the discoloration was due to oxidation or the chemical reaction between cheap insulation and the copper wire. Please don't turn this into a pissing contest. Either you know or don't know, don't need guesses. What causes the discoloration and will it affect the signal if used? Remember its not at the ends, just restating that for the people who can't read. One set of wire is brand new and it came lik…

I'm looking to put a single btl 15 in my trunk. I planned on 2 sa12's but after hearing them im not happy. I want something that hits a lot lower. It's a trunk car and sub will up fire. Going to run my bc2000 to it if it's able to properly fit back there. Dimensions..13" height x 37" width x ~35 depth. Is that enough room to fit a btl 15 n2 in there with the proper port? I prefer a lower tune. 2nd, the btl has a mounting depth of 9.625". Will that put the magnet too close to the bottom of the box? I have experience with a UFO btl 18 in another vehicle so I'm pretty sure this is the route I want to go, but if the space isn't there I'm not going to waste any money on it. T…

Looking to start buying the pieces for my next build and im fairly sure im going to be using a bc2000 to power it but as far as drivers im pretty split between a few options. I want to be able to get really loud at around the 30-33hz area and really loud period but no a complete loss of musical ability. Going to be a daily driver build. Mainly been looking at either 2 15" ssa icons, dc level 4s, fi bl's or 4 sa-12s. Im leaning toward the sa-12s right now. Any advice would be appreciated.
