Sup guys it's jfreezy. I was wondering if it's possible to bring your home audio into a car? I'd like to know if it is possible. I'm curious. My cousin has a home audio sub with built in amp in the box. It has the wall outlet plug. It can be a straight up sub and has terminals for speakers. Thing is like 250watts. Do you guys think it's possible to have this in a car with a dc to ac converter ? Like, top of the line dc to ac converter, one that can handle alot of wattage. If this is possible it would be pretty cool and cheap too lol. Just something my cousin and I are thinking about on this boring day.

I've got a pal who I'd like to tell is wrong, but need some technical advice to confirm my intuition. I have a Mach5 MAW-12(350wts) I've built a 1 cube(plus sub space taken) sealed box for in 3/4 MDF, as per spec's and am running off an MTX Amp with 460wts max. My good friend purchased 1 15" JBL apparently capable 650 watts(don't know the model, but a new purchase), and running off an older PG 500 wt amp. He has built a temp box he's happy with, about 1.8cubes sealed, but made of 5/8" plywood. Although his lows seem to be lower, I don't think his volume nor his sound could be if he built a new MDF Box, instead of the plywood box he currently has. I don' think he's ge…

I am using the following tool to figure out how long my aeros need to be to tune the box. http://psp-inc.com/tools.html It will be a ~5 ft^3 box I want to tune it to ~29 hz I am going to use 6" aeros http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=268-354 I want to use 4 of them, for the look it will give the box. What I'm wondering is after I put all this in the calculator, it tells me I need 69" of length. Is this per aero or all of them combined? I would hope that it would be inches total and not per aero. Thanks

OK, now this is just a give your opinion on this BS. A friend of mine has 4 JL w1v2 12's and a JL 500/1 ported. exact specs on the enclsure i have no idea. He i was talking to him yesterday and he said he drove up to the local audio shop which sapposeably has MECA certified mics. I dont know if this is Term Lab or not. i am assumeing so since that is the organization Alma gates comeats (or compeated) with. anyway, he told me he did a 149.2@ 55Hz. beleiveable but not BSable Today he calls me saying he went up there agian and did a bunch of runs. he averaged at 151.3...still beleiveable depending on the box. but then he goes on to tell me on a bass track song he did a 157.1…

So for the first time ever, I set off some car alarms. LOL I know for most of you guys this isn't uncommon, but I've always thought it was a pretty cool/funny thing and I've finally done it. Pulled into the movie theaters parking garage bumping some Jeezy with my friends and not a second later 4 vehicle's alarms went nuts. (Sorry if this bores you. The little things in life make me happy )

I'll use REW on my laptop. My question is can I use the omni directional microphone that came with my Kicker keysmart amp that is used to auto tweak it's built in DSP? My second question. I've never used REW before. Any tips/suggestions for the best settings/methods to measure my car's accoustics? Also should I turn off my Keysmart amp's DSP features first or will it matter? I just want a graph to see where the peaks and dips are in my frequency response. Final question. Can I measure for cancellation issues using REW?

Just wanted to get a feel for how many of you buy from dealers, online, direct from the factory of only buy used i.e. ebay, craigslist, ssa.com, classified. If you compete at all, I am really interested to find out where you get your stuff. 1. Local Dealer 2. Online Store 3. Factory Direct 4. Used from craigslist, ebay, ssa, etc.

Well, I picked one of the $100 ones up for a cheap alternative for some subbass. First impressions: The build quality is extraodrinary. Everything is aligned perfectly. There is not a hint of excessive glue used which is commonplace on a lot of subs today available from certain buildhouses. The finish on the driver is superb. The basket seems to be a little weak for the motor structure, but hey, it was a lot of "leftover parts" assembled very well into a quite impressive looking driver. IT came with a four-piece, self-adhesive foam surround for rear sealing, with a very attractive front rubber piece that just seems to flow into, or out from the surround. I wish ot…

hey all, i'm not sure if this is in the right forum or not so if it's not please move it. i am looking into buy new subs and changing enclosures. i know there are some on this site who bulid their own enclosures. i don't want anything custom and crazy just something that will do the job and give me good sound quality. are there any how to's on making your own enclosure and also how to tune them? i've heard that tuning the enclosure is important but i don't know anything about this. i've seen them done on a tv show called unique whips and the guy finishes them in about 30 minutes. is it really this simple? any help would be very helpful. 35 cubes tuned at 40Hz. 555 square inches of port. Power will be 5000-7000 on burps. Could i safely run this enclosure daily between 2000-3000 or should i make a port insert? What do you think? What sub's? The IXL18.2's would have been considered but they are not in stock. Thanks in advance for your help.

i have every panel popped off ready for install. my doors are a mofo, the rubber grommet thing thats between my doors for the speaker wires is going to be really really frustrating and i was trying to figure out how much a shop would usually charge to run speaker wire into a door. i'll have the amp all hooked up and ready for speaker wire it just literally needs to be ran through the door. the door panels will be off, all the trim for the side where the wires will be popped so that will cut off some time on the installers part. roughly how much would a shop charge me for this?

So my ex had a cat and my subs suffered for it that will teach me to leave them lying around (haven't even used them yet). It's a RE SX 12 from about 2005-2006. Is there anyone that can rebuild it or am i looking at a loss. Its not been used so everything is good just not the cap that was punctured. Thanks for any advice toward a fix. I want to use the set in a 1996 lincoln town car I hope at least.
