This seemed like an appropriate place to put this, sorry if its not. I would like to get recommendations on good installers in the central/north central Ohio area. I want to talk to someone about my custom glass enclosure I plan to build, see how feasible it is or possibly have the shop do it if I think it's too much for me to handle. I really want someone who can teach a bit here. Not just looking to make a sale, someone I can talk to. Any ideas?

well i am redoing my whole system (not that i had much, maybe doing a whole system). So i have a 15" (the one with no logo) in a sealed box. I think it is around the size of 2.5-3 ft^3 and i have a Viper 1200d amp (1200w x1 @1 ohm) Now the question is, what else should i get to complete the system? I am thinking an Alpine HU but i am clueless from there. I don't want to break the bank but i want it to sound good and keep up with my SI. This will be going in either a late 90's prelude or 2 door accord (should be getting in the next couple weeks). so would you suggest a diff head? Comp for front? coax for back? oh and i listen to mostly rock, alt, punk, and elctronica and …

Hey, Im fairly new to all this Car Audio stuff, and have no idea what is 'good'. There is so much choice nowadays with all the brands (Alpine, Memphis, FUSION, etc, etc) and would like help on choosing my first set up. I have about 1,000 $NZ (About 700-800 US$) to spend on Speaker's, Sub(s), and amp(s). I dont need a head unit as I am building a CarPC for the music. So what would you recommend? NZHawk,

Scored these monsters for $200. They need some work because they were banged up in a move, but after some new cloth skirts, wood work, and paint these bad boys will be rockin. I'm sure they'll also need a wire rebuild kit from Magnepan, but from what I have read that is only about $50. It's going to take a while to get used to a pair of 60" tall speakers in the living room. The "IMP" on the rear plates designate these as an "Improved" version of the MG-1's. I hear if you use subwoofers in a dipole setup with magneplanars it is next to Godliness, so I'm doing the research on different dipole setups right now and trying to decide which one to use. I'm thinking black wood f…

Hi, I have cheaper stuff than most of you guys wipe your butt with. Anyways, I have a 2x10" sub with Pioneer speakers that say they handle 50-120w RMS (I know I know, don't laugh) and a 2-channel Pioneer GM-3300t amp that claims the following: Output Power (4 Ohm, <=1% THD) 60 Watts x 2 Output Power (4 Ohm Bridged, <=1% THD) 150 Watts x 1 Output Power (2 Ohm, <=1% THD) 75 Watts x 2 Now, since I am buying a pair of front component speakers, I wanted to hook them up to an amp. The question is whether or not I should use my current amp for the component speakers, or keep the cheapo amp with the sub and buy a new amp for the component speakers. BTW, the subwoofer…

Here is the tech/how-to link that on here that I will refer to later: Big 3 How-to I did the big 3 today in my car, (see sig for equipment/etc.), and I noticed something odd, (to me). A week or two before I actually did the upgrade, I had checked my voltage with a DMM for shiggles up front and on the amp. 12.5. Today after the upgrade, the voltage was 14.4ish, (moved around a little; no more than a tenth of a volt), front and back on amp. Both readings were taken with the car idling. This is good right? This was supposed to happen? Another question; on the link it says to fuse the alternator to battery positive wire with a fuse the same size as the factory fuse. I …

  10. Hey guys, I have a SAZ-2000D with the X12 I just ordered going in my 2.5 cubic foot box @ 32 hz. I ordered the X12 Dual 2 ohm woofer, but now I'm having thoughts that I should've maybe ordered the Zv4. My fear is that 2k is too much for the X12. Some people mentioned that 2k for a Zv4 is low. I have no plans to upgrade in the near future, I'd like to stick with 2k. It's my daily driver so the sub will see 30 min to 1 hour of play at a time. So did I make the right choice? Will the X12 do fine with that amp? As far as I'm aware the only difference between the two is power handling. Thanks, Dylan

It was a nice day, and the shop is closed on sunday so I decided to break out the old TL and do some testing. At the moment, the ports I am using are for testing purposes, just form tube, no fibreglass enforcement or even flares for that matter, so I know there is still more I can squeeze out of this. All testing was done with Two 15" Icons on a Crescendo 3500d (At 2 ohms keep in mind). Pretty basic electrical with only a single kinetik 1400 as a second battery. First Test : 6.cuft / 8" formtube tuned to ~27hz 30hz - 137.94db 35hz - 139.19db 40hz - 141.53db 44hz - 143.20db 46hz - 143.52db Second Test : 6cuft / 8" formtube tuned to ~ 33hz 30hz - 138.23db 35hz - 14…

Well, I'm pretty much excited right now. Just ordered my new BTL N2 18 a few minutes ago. Just wondering if you guys think an aq2200 will do the trick of supplying this beast with the power it needs, and if not, feel free to give me an affordable suggestion. Also, do you guys think a high output alternator would be necessary for a late 90s Tahoe if I wired another battery in the trunk?

Im confused on how i would run my 1/0g wire from the battery to both of those amps. do i need one or two runs from the battery?

This would be my first post onto this forum but to start it off i'd like some opinions. I had belief in a theory that if your woofers faced each other you could then perhaps feed them more power and essentially they would just load off of each other. Now technically speaking how do you guys think this would work? Keep in mind they are both (2) in phase with one another in separate boxes.

im adding a second yellow top under the hood. since i have the yellow tops with the side terminals as well as the top i would be able to utilize those as well. so i planned on going from battery to battery using 0ga using the side terminals. then i was going to use the top of the one batt to go 0ga to the alt and 0ga to the body. this was one going to be charged while the other is discharged. the second batt is going to have 0 and 4ga running to the amps, and 0ga to the ground. does this diagram look correct? as in are all of the wires going to the right places? btw, im doing the big 3, thats why the engine is on there.

well i found a couple different trucks around here, and i found one that i really like. its a 1989 s-10 standard cab, 4cyl, 5spd. i think there was one little ding on the hood, clear coat was faded off, but the actual color is for the most part uniform all around. its got a topper on it, vinyl bench seat that from when i looked at it, didnt look ripped or anything, dash i didnt see cracks or anything from heat. he's asking $800 but i have $700 cash to offer him, im waiting for him to call me since he's been busy since i drove it (didnt offer him anything yet but he said he wont sell the truck since i want it) its a very nice truck for an 89, drives nice (no power steering…

Well I'm trying to talk to my dad about my system, keep in mind I'm only 16. And he is funding for most of my first system. I was talking to him about building a box and everything and he said it was too much work when you could just go out and buy a nice prefab box. Well of course I explained to him that a decent prefab 4.0cuft box will be like $150 shipped, why do that when you can make your own for like $50. He went on about carpeting the box and how the fiber board falling apart or something when you drill down the screws? So he said why don't you just get one of those loaded enclosures and amps from best buy or circuit city? I tried to explain that those are overpri…
