So first off, I'm running a '99 Pontiac Grand Am. As we all know, the space in a Grand Am is EXTREMELY limited when it comes to car audio installs.. SO I had a few questions for my future install. I'm really looking into an 18" Fi BTL for the car, but there is not enough room in the trunk to build a box big enough to appropriately house this large of a subwoofer. So my questions are: 1) If I were to take out my back seats and just build a wall to put the sub in, would this be a better idea? 2) If so, what would I do about porting the "wall" to a specific frequency? (30-35 hertz) 3) If a wall isn't the best route to take in this situation, are there any other ways to s…

  2. So I'm going to be redoing my system in a few weeks or months and everything is practically RE audio and Us amps I already have the subs but im still looking for the amp and the speakers and there amp just about it. For the amp its between the SAE 1200 and the Us amps Md1d. For some speakers i dont really know but i ve been craving these in my doors and some tweeters so they can match the subs. But dont really no about the tweeters or the crossover because i dont think ill be running active i'm willing to spend 150 on the speakers as i can get hooked up from some RE dealers and pretty much everything. 3. Alright, it came crashing down. I give props to Lil'Mike and dB-Kicker, I never could have pulled this off so it would have always been a daydream and a wish. I started a thread or 2 on the car audio area a long time ago about building a wall with THTs, then recently SoloX 18 THs. Here's the inquery I made April 18th. This is my way of still being able to make a thread since there won't be a build log. Jordan Powell What would you do? Hey Deon, I frequently toy with ideas of what I would do different if I had the opportunity to do another van build from scratch. The one I did was my only build of that magnatude, my 1st wall, first time running multiple subs with multiple…

I was talking to a friend of mine earlier who is a frequent SSA user, and he suggested i ask the community. So here's what I want. In general, I want my car to sound as clear and full as my home theater system (5.1 with a Polk CS1, pair of Monitor40's, and bookshelf speakers in the back with a Polk 10" sub). It was suggested to me to get a pair Bravox components (here: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/store/products/Bravox-Audio-CS60K-Components.html ), but I like having full "surround sound", and i would like to have a pair of 6x9's as well, which my friend suggested were unnecessary. (I also drive a lot of people to and from places so it'd be nice to allow them to lis…

  12. In my town, we have absolutely nobody to consult for car audio...so I am in dire need of some advice. I have about $1000 budget (as posted above). I just put in a pioneer head unit, so that part is taken care of. With the budget, Ide like to replace the 4 stock speakers (all 5 1/4", 2 in the rear roof, 2 in the front door panels). And then I am sacrificing some space in the trunk for a sub box. My dimensions are 20" height, 35" width, 15" bottom depth", 8" top depth. I have no idea on what direction I want to go other than Im thinking 2 12's with the space I have and an amp to match them, but I really want to avoid extra batteries and alternators and so forth (if I can).…

I will soon be working on walling my 1997 Honda accord with 2 18 inch DC subwoofers (level 4 with level 5 soft parts), running on 1 (soon to be 2) HC1800 batteries with stock alt, 1800 kenwood amp, zero gauge. Now i will be working on this project and i should be done sometime after December. My question for any car audio smarties out there is this, I will post the stats of the subs below for the level 4's and the level 5's. Now keep in mind that they are STILL level 4's but they contain level 5 parts (such as motor and spider). So my subs will fall in the middle of level 5 and level 4. Now the real question is this, What amp do you think i should be running to these woof…

So I recently purchased a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta off of a friend of a friend. Today, I played some music and the sound quality was horrible!! :/ It sounds muffled and shaky.. I tried to adjust the treble & bass but that didn't make a difference. I want to have a new system put in, do you think it'll fix that problem? If so, what exactly do I have to get? I don't know anything about sound systems or cars lol.. What brand do you reccomend?? Thanks!!

I'm looking into getting an 8 ohm woofer and a tweeter for each of my stock locations. The amp i have is rated for 50x4 @4 ohms and has a bridged rating of 160x2 @4 ohms. Question is, would it be ok to bridge each side (1 woofer and 1 tweeter) @4 ohms, provided that i find a decent 8 ohm tweeter? Or am i just better off running each speaker to it's own channel? I'm not too familiar with this stuff, so excuse me if i am completely missing something.

I was debating on buying a refurb or not. Db-r has some good deals, but being that they are rebuilt by db-r and not sundown, i was kinda iffy if the build quality would be the same. Maybe its just me but when i hear refurb, i think defected product that will probably break again. They do have a 1 year warranty which is helps. I guess im just looking for a little input on what everyone thinks about refurbs. Thanks

Guys was thinking of installing a dual alternator for my new project. My questions are: i. My current stock alternator is rated at 60 amps. If I were to upgrade to a bigger alternator, would there be a risk of frying the electrical with a higher current alternator? Or can I just replace it without upgrading my battery to bigger ones? ii. If I were to install 2 alternator, what do I have to do? Can I just wired 2 alternators together or do I have to add external regulators or relay? Since its very hard to find bigger size of alternator in my place, I was planning to install dual 90 or 100 amps to my car and also upgrade the big 3. Anyone has more info in upgrading alter…

My friend is deciding on an 18 for his van, and i told him i'd help him out by buying his 15's he has just chillin. They are Fusion Powerplant series, the older green ones, that are 450rms. I looked all over and i just couldnt find anymore info on the old models; does anyone have any experience with these subs? I am looking to make an spl (burp) setup for my moms hatchback. I would either get a AQ2200D or a Sundown 2000D. Bell's ringing, if any info is needed, just let me know.
