Here is the TEMPORARY setup: 04 Audi S4 Deck: stock, low signal outputs converted to RCA with Soundgate LOC.22 Highs: stock components, 2ohm each Subs: (2) Crystal CPE 8" in rear deck, infinite baffle, 8 ohm woofers Amps: (2) Sony XM2252HX. One is on the highs, high current mode @ 1ohm/channel. One is on the subs, high current mode @ 4ohm bridged My question is, the subs bottom out real bad...worse than my stock 8 and at less amount of volume. I still need to seal up a major leak from the trunk to the cabin, which I will be taking care of tomorrow but that should only fix the volume portion. Considering they are just 8's, should I just run the built in amplifier high pass…

Ok so...we all know that some vehicles are louder than others, some are more prone to flex so on and so forth. We all know that a 150 in one car can look and feel drastically different than a 150 in a different car. But what I want to know is... can there be more force behind a woofer's stroke which would in turn translate into moving more air and more flex BUT, it's not as loud on a meter? Let's take say...a pair 6x9. I can make the 6x9's play louder (to my ear anyway) than my pair of 12's but they move less air and hardly flex anything. It doesn't sound very "powerful," if you will. At the same time, my subs at a lot lower volume can move my mirror which the 6x9's can h…

Ok, don't want to start any kind of drama here, lol. Just want to inform those who don't know. The Steve Meade Distortion Detector has a price listed for "less" then 139$ each. I'm guessing 138.99$ If you don't know what this product is, here is the info for it provided by his youtube channel. Also, I don't own any rights for this or any of the following information given. lol, I don't want any kind of legal trouble from the man. Just informing the community. "Ever wonder how to set your amp gains properly? Do you just turn them up till its loud enough for you and call it done? Do you turn them up all the way...... or do you tell your boys "my amp is ONLY up 1/4 of the w…

so in two years, i am getting a car. it will be my 16th birth day present. now my plan is: (4) MJ-18's in a clamshell (4) 6.5" tang bands in the doors (1) U.S. Amps XT-2000d @ 1ohm (subs) (2) Legacy LA160's (mids and highs) and 6 pioneer tweeters. all this crap is going in the back of a 99' beetle. ported and tuned to 30Hz, will this monster blow my car up? i mean it would be fun, but i would have no mode of transportation. so please, tell me now if doing this will be a waste of money and/or put me out of a car. i mean, how bad could it be? i just like my music loud!

Hey guys. Ok so a few weeks ago, my stereo began to exhibit a strange problem. It would sort of skip but while fading in and out with weird background noise that sounds like a disk spinning. I figured it was the CD player in my deck, but this problem occurred while using Aux and the radio as well. The problem directly correlates with me slowing down, turning, or making any change in direction, and it is VERY sporadic. I obviously figured it was my deck, so I replaced it with a new one. The problem is now occurring again. I'm at a loss. It is obviously not anything in the deck, and I cannot figure out where this very odd fading/skipping would come from. And like I said, …

Anyone had experiences with this brand? Their amps? True power? Subs? Durability? Boxes? Good as or worse than prefab?

Im currently running 2 18s on about 2000w rms each. I know most would put both in the same box but i built separate boxes. the boxes are bolted together and then I have it in a wall config. According to Turros box calculator I have about 6cuft each and the port is tuned to about 32hz...what can I do to get louder if anything. Also I don't think the soundstream amps are putting out 2000w rms. would a more efficient amp help too. maybe an better amp with about the same rms power as the subs (1800w rms) not to risk blowing my subs.... advice please

So after listening to M5 and a couple other people on this forum who made great points to remove my 6.5" speakers from my rear deck I am glad you guys opened me up to a whole different world of sound in my car. Those 2-6.5" opening allow for so much bass to come through into the cabin of my car from the trunk its ridiculous, more ouput and better sound from my subs was gained. I used to be one of those guys who wanted millions of speakers in the interior of the car no matter where I could put them. I learned that the right placement, power, control(EQ'ing) would make up for more sound than a billion speakers in the ca (one friend used to tell me before I joined this site …

Alright i'm going to be getting my first system for my car. I plan on getting 2 12" FI SSD's and a cadence TXA-1000d which is 1000watts at 1 ohm. I have heard many good things about FI that is why i am getting the SSD's but do i need them dual 2 or dual 1ohm to work with that amp. Does this sound good or should i get something else. All this will cost me around $600 so that pretty much is my budget.

I can't stand these prices people are asking to make a box. I think worst-case, can I pay someone to cut some MDF and I assemble the box myself? $200 for a 2.5 cube 12" box with no extra features seems pricey. The only thing I don't have is a panel saw, but otherwise I have pretty much everything else. Would it be hard to make a panel saw myself? Would lowes/home depot cut mdf for me for a reasonable fee? I have also read that they will give you a new sheet if the cuts aren't perfect. (I won't mind 1/8" off, but if they aren't straight then that is a problem) BTW I have 33x38x19 to work with and I want to tune to 28hz. Possibly aero port to save some room if nec…

Hey guys, After having a 2002 Blazer with a pair of 12" Type-R's in a not great box (it would still knock the breath out of you at the right frequency), the truck was sold and I am looking to get back into the hobby. Probably going to get a 2003 Blazer, my questions are on gear and I'm looking for your personal opinions. I want mostly SQ with some thump (the great paradox). Here's what I'm thinking: Head Unit: McIntosh MX406 http://www.mcintoshlabs.com/us/Products/pages/ProductDetails.aspx?CatId=CarAudioSource&ProductId=MX406 Subwoofer's: (2) RE SX 12 http://www.audiosavings.com/products/12-Inch-Car-Subwoofer/NEW-RE-AUDIO-SX12D2-SX-12-2000w-CAR-SUBWOOFER-SX12-D2/SX12D…

I am looking into buying two 15" subs, a nice decent headunit, an amp to power the subs, a set of components for the front and an amp to power the components. What would you guys recommend for all of that. I have no more than $1500 to work with and I would like to stay under that price. I want the equipment to be nice high quality equipment, but still staying under that price. Thanks, Kyle

So I finally got my Time alignment and my 2 way active set up going. Man oh man what a difference in the sound now that its all dialed in. I have switched out my dual 5.25 for a single 6.5 in the doors with the Tweets in the A pillars. Decided to stay with Polk audio. Got the Momo 6.5 comp set. Sound excellent. My buddy and I worked out the details for the tuning Saturday night. The Dodge dash and cab are so wide that it took some dancing with the settings to get a good center stage area. Tweets are crossed over @ 3.5 khrz Mids @ 63Hrz to 3.5 khrz Subs @ 80 and below We tested with the both the Meca Cheskiy CD and the Iasca SQ disc. Along with some Dire Straights and …

I absolutely cannot get away from it, and I was wondering what keeps everyone else coming back for more and more. For me its the undeniable feel of a subwoofer rattling your chest, and knowing you made it all happen.
