I have 4 gauge power wire going to my two ppi 2100's. I will be adding a US Amps 100 HC for a sub amp. Can I run 4 gauge to it or do I need to step up to 1/0 gauge? Also what would be the perfect set up? What I mean is, I have a diesel truck with two 750 amp batteries and a 136 amp alt. Will this be ok to run this set up? What needs to be changed? Thanks

Ok, 1st question. Ive heard of making cement lined enclosures where you basically build and enclsorue inside and enclosure, but what about cement enclosrues where the outer enclsoure is ment to be removed and the cement finsihed off liek they finish off cement counter tops? Its reletively cheap to finish cement counter tops, you can make them smooth like glass or retain the cement feel. I dont have any plans to do such a thing but im just wondering if anybody has though about doing this or has already dont this. 1 1/2 80lb bags would probbaly be what yo uwould need for a moderately sized enclsorue plus reed bar and that wire stuff...so all in all your moderately sized enc…

So, I will be running 2 subs off a 2k RF amp and also about another 1k watts to mids and highs. I will be doing big 3 and puttin a extra battery in the back (smaller one). Right now I have a 160 amp alt and a stock 730ampere battery. Are these going to be enough or will I probably have to upgrade them?

I have seen a lot lately people posting threads asking about their woofers SQ and woofers SPL in different enclosures. Also, using the same to compare different woofers like, " I don't wanna loose any SQ and but I want a lot of SPL." I'll start with SQ, most "SQ" woofers you will see are less then 1000w and are optimized for sealed enclosures to aid with a flat response. When most people talk about woofers and their SQ, they just want it to not sound like shit, not a flat response. It's takes 10% or more Total Harmonic Distortion to hear it. Most people wouldn't even notice it at that level. So next time you say you want to say you want SQ from your woofer, please reconsi…

when someone who thinks he knows a lot about car audio (and he doesnt) and has a lot of money braggs 24/7 about what he has? this one guy in my area has MTX throughout his car. i think he has 2 12 8500 subs and a 1000 watt amp. anyways, he always says MTX is the shiznit and that nothing even comes close. he also told me that MTX RULES the competition. i brought up RE and FI and he was like nope, MTX would KILL them all. lmao. this has prob been posted before with different people, but imo, it all depends on the install, and more so, the persons taste in music and what he thinks sounds good. im not saying mtx sucks, but im sure it is not THE ABSOLUTE BEST. everyone has th…

My dad was looking to buy me a sound system for my birthday, i am looking around, he immideatily eliminated the idea of a subwoofer, so now i have a head unit and new speakers, and an amp (if necessary). I drive a 2004 jeep grand cherokee. I was going to buy with him today, Alpine CDA9886, 1 Alpine SPX-13 REF component set, 1 Alpine SPX-17 REF component set, and to power those speakers i was going to use a autotek SM4-800. I was wondering if this set up would be good, and if the amp would be adequate power for the speakers, i think it goes 100x4 @ 4 ohms.

When you start a new project, do you set a budget? Do you lay out how much you are willing to spend for each piece of the system? Do you usually wind up adjusting those numbers? Have you gone, or are you, overbudget right now? If so, why? - Steve

Before I get into too much detail I need to go over some information about the gear I'm working with. I currently have a 2.7cu ft box with a 15" sub in it that takes up most of my trunk. I have just enough space to fit my Cadence TXA-1000D amp in front of it. I also have a Pioneer GM-6300F 4ch amp. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Pro...Series/GM-6300F So my sub and mono amp are going in the trunk, and I'm trying to determine placement of my amp and consequent amp install gear, both of which are variables that depend upon each other for optimal results. So I purchased this http://www.tsunamionline.com/product.php?id=532 a couple of months ago. (view page source to g…

OK, Well I have tried a few things and nothing worked. But first I will tell you my situation. I have a 92 Ford Ranger xlt and a FI BL 15 in THIS Box with a Pyle Audio 2200 amp. My problem is that When the box and sub are in the cab of my truck and the head unit is off or on it doesn't matter. I receive a very loud buzzing sound when I turn the key on. Here is a video below to explain what happened. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JuZPgoYyYk Please help me as much as you guys can.

I changed up the design on my towers, so I don't have a place to mount / hide the crossovers. The initial design called for them to be placed inside of the cabinets ... in the upper section with the 5.25's and tweets. However, I scrapped that idea to gain more internal volume and pushed the 'back' all the way back so it's flush with the back of the bottom section (think of one solid back ... mind you, I'm sure you've seen the pictures, so no need for me to explain it). Anyway. I need to mount the crossover components on something. I'm not all for a piece of cardboard duct taped to the top or rear. I was thinking of mounting the completed piece to the top each tower, wh…

does anybody have experience with the trunk space of a zx3 2002 ford focus? i guess it doesnt have to necessarily be 2002, but at least the same body style. Im recommending the BTL to my friend based on his goals and because im a Fi fan. he wants to be as loud as he can get with one btl, and hes pretty noob so immediately he assumed the 18 would be best for him. so what im asking is does anyone know if a box big enough for an 18 will fit in the focus's trunk? i dont have the dimensions, although i might later on when i talk to him. and it can take up the whole trunk except a lil room for the amp (most likely going to be an audioque 1200d.) hes probably just gonna be…

Hey fellas, not sure where to post this so here it is. I have a bus we drive for church on Wednesday's and we got a bunch of rowdy kids(saginaw area) so i installed a radio on the bus and we have a CB style mic but its not powered so as you all know the signal it sends isnt strong enough to amplify to make it audible. So my question is do any of you guys know an easy fix for this? Like a mic that is self powered or what not? Any help or direction would be great. 35 rowdy kids imma end up with no voice.

I have a 15.5 cu ft trunk supposedly.... thats Manufacter specs of my 1996 Taurus. How many Sq Ft of damplifier should I get to cover the Walls, Lid, and Floor completely? How ever much it takes will dictate which Damp I get. if 20 sq ft will do it I AM A get Damp Pro but if a little more than that is needed Im going to get 40 sq ft of regular Damplifier and just add a second layer with whatever I got left.

Instead of cutting a hole for a terminal cup I plan on running a 1/4 inch or so bolt through the side of my sub box. My question is, what type of bolt would be best for power/signal transfer? -Standard Steel -Stainless Steel -Brass -Aluminum -Chrome -Grade 8 Steel -Copper (not sure I can find it) There is just so many options and I don't know what to choose. Thanks All

OK, i've been doin research on this and i can't get a hold of excessive amperage or Iraggi so maybe someone on here may know. I had planned on running a Lanzar 6000D with an Alpine PDX 4.150 300A iraggi alt with HC1800 and HC2400. Well, i've been doin some research on alts and it said once you reach 300A alt case size, it is extremely large. In order to have adequate cooling, they are normalls about 12" wide by 18" long! There is no way that could fit in there without doin some extensive re-running of the AC lines, but Iraggi makes alts this high which is odd. I drive a 2007 Scion tC by the way, 141hp dyno-ed stock auto, 161hp at the crank. Ok, it is also true that for …
