At all about sealed vs ported, RMS, transient response, SQ of a sub, box types, etc... This primer should be read... # 1 Subwoofers have an RMS rating Speakers actually have a very complex thermal compression relationship and certainly can not be quantified by just one or two numbers typically called RMS and Program or Peak. Because voice coils in traditional drivers are inherently resistors, any amount of voltage generates some amount of heat which then adversely changes the resistance and properties of the speaker. This is the principle of thermal compression: As the voice coil heats up, the resistance changes and the efficiency and performance of the driver decrease …

  7. I made this series of test tones and sine sweeps to help a member set up his system. I figured since I went to the trouble of packaging these and uploading them, I would share these with everyone. These will work great for setting up your system, adjusting crossover points, setting EQs, and determining how flat the system really is (using the final series of sweeps)... oh yeah, and just for showing off, if you so choose . All are unclipped 0db signals. I have enclosed the track list in a wordpad file, and I will include it here for you to determine if this set is for you. I have also added a set of pink noise tracks, as requested by another member. It will be the second d…

So I just finished making my box its 5.0 cubic ft after displacement. I have 0 guage coming on monday but I am currently running 4 guage and don't have my extra battery and big 3 done yet. I am playing my sub and playing it reasonably loud. Will this be fine if I play it for a week till I get the 0 guage and the extra battery wired up??? I have an 05 denali and my lights are dimming when stereo is turned up.

I'm really at a point where I honestly have no idea what i want to get. I am already storin up my first years insurance money, and once i get a solid job, the money for the car itself. I know for a fact i am gettin a '00 ford explorer 4dr, there is a man selling several (like 8!) so i'll grab the black one when the money is right. I have said a whole lotta stuff in the past, just from eyeballin other people setups. I think i'd do better off to ask people who actually have expereince, more than booksmarts, what they would do in a given situation. Goal is alotta SPL on music. SQ doesnt hurt, but loud is the priority. The possibilites i have come up with: Four icon 15's on t…

I have a friend with a 1980 Corvette(fixed rear window). He has asked me give him a hand with doing an install. This vehicle will be primarily for his wife to drive, but not as an everyday driver. His thoughts and input for the install are as follows: 1. Has a budget of around $1000.00 2. Has to have the space behind the seats for storage of the T-tops. 3. Does not want to do any cutting of the dash, doors, or have any type of pods on the floor or mounted to the doors. 4. Would prefer more of a quality sound vs bass heavy. 5. Wants anything installed to flow with the interior. Basically wants to keep the interior very close to factory appearence. I have told him that wit…

actual technical question follows ---> Basically as the title says...I've decided on an 5.25" or 6.5" MTM design that works for my app, but I've got a choice of ribbon or regular tweets. The ribbon kit is double the price of the normal one at $550...I've never owned a speaker using ribbon tweets, so I don't know if they'd be worth the price increase. FYI, the speakers I'm looking at can be found at http://www.parkeraudio.net. 95dB/W or 98dB/W at a stable 2 ohm load. Thanks. :musik05:

sup guy! my friend hooked me up real good with an mtx te4001d amp which has 2200rms at 2 ohs. theres just one problem. i'm a cheap bastard.1) i would first like to know if i should get a bl or btl12 with this amount of power. 2) i also would like to know if i will get away with running 2200 watts with just doing "the big 3" and at most buying one of them "marine batteries" (i have a 80 amp alt). i would like to avoid buying a high powered alternator if its possible. let me know what you guys think!

I have noticed as of late that allot of people feel they need 3000+ watts. OK I admit I would love to have a saz 3000d or 2 or 3(lol) but I also understand that I don't have the electrical to run one let alone more than one. I think allot of newer people see big numbers and think if I get that I can do this. what they fail to realize is what it takes to to properly run at these levels. now don't get me wrong I am by no means as knowledgeable as I would like to be, But I am willing to learn and have learned a great deal from this forum. For that I would like to say thanks. I guess what I am getting at is. I have done and have heard systems that sounded great, got quite lo…

Fi produces a great product, we all know, but them breaking crap in my car is annoying. Well it's officially gone too far now and I'm slightly mad. How should I fix/prevent this from spreading further. Song used was Decaf's Red Chain, destroys the lows, as seen in the pic.

  23. WOOOHOOOO!!!!! WOW, so excited. Well, Jason (UndercoverPunk on caraudio.com) came over yesterday at about 1 p.m. to help me out on some deadening. Deadener was SecondSkin Damplifier and SecondSkin Spectrum. After borrowing my truck from the mechanic's (Just got a whole new transmission, 3 weeks later...problems... thank god for 3 year warranty) We took it home and began to strip it down. Took All the seats, body panels, and carpet out. There are AT LEAST 2 layers of Damplifier EVERYWHERE seen (sometime 3 layers). Spectrum didn't get used yet....MAYBE i'll put the full gallon on the floor next time. Here's a pic of a *few* things in the bed of the truck... After about…
