  6. I made this series of test tones and sine sweeps to help a member set up his system. I figured since I went to the trouble of packaging these and uploading them, I would share these with everyone. These will work great for setting up your system, adjusting crossover points, setting EQs, and determining how flat the system really is (using the final series of sweeps)... oh yeah, and just for showing off, if you so choose . All are unclipped 0db signals. I have enclosed the track list in a wordpad file, and I will include it here for you to determine if this set is for you. I have also added a set of pink noise tracks, as requested by another member. It will be the second d…

At all about sealed vs ported, RMS, transient response, SQ of a sub, box types, etc... This primer should be read... # 1 Subwoofers have an RMS rating Speakers actually have a very complex thermal compression relationship and certainly can not be quantified by just one or two numbers typically called RMS and Program or Peak. Because voice coils in traditional drivers are inherently resistors, any amount of voltage generates some amount of heat which then adversely changes the resistance and properties of the speaker. This is the principle of thermal compression: As the voice coil heats up, the resistance changes and the efficiency and performance of the driver decrease …

  9. I bought 2 15" VVX subs in 2011 and even had Skar build me a custom box for them and I'm very happy with it and still am today. However, I have another project I'm designing a build for and have emailed Skar audio (Kevin) direct, and Skar audio support after I got an email saying they try to respond within 2 hours of getting an email. Well, I sent 2 more emails over the last 7 days and called 3 times and left messages on their phone number about getting specs for subs and advice on my application/build. STILL NO RESPONSE! Once a fan boy, and now disgusted with this pathetic lack of support, I no longer will be buying new skar audio products since they don't put the custom…

  11. Okay I'm sorry in advance if this topic has been posted about before in this forum but to my credit i did look. I just recieved my sa-12 (dual 4 ohm) from ssa yesterday and i have it on a jx 1000/1 wired to 2 ohms in a ported box thats too small for it (sorry but thats how it is) it sounds good though. I try to avoid hammering on it for too long but I do turn it up to the full 1000 watts for a few seconds at a time. I just want to break it in correctly to avoid blowing it or damaging it because i do exceed the rated power sometimes. How important is "breaking in" a subwoofer in is and if it is important, what is the correct procedure to break it in? Also wh…

So I finally ordered some 80mil AT deadener to test out. Shipping was quick and I received a discounted rate. So that was great. Everything started going wrong once the package showed up. The adhesive backing on the foil had gotten smeared all over the inside the box, so I had to literally rip the box apart to get to the deadener. The adhesive had gotten stuck all over the wrong side of the back as well. First thing I noticed was the foil is a extremely rigid. It is close to the same thickness as stinger roadkill expert, but much less flexible. Second, is the plastic film to cover the adhesive is difficult to remove, which leaves more opportunities to be slice by the alum…

Is the remote knob a separate volume for the amplifier or separate EQ for the amplifier? Do all these remote knobs do the same same thing? Hifonics's"Bass Boost" RF's "Remote Punch EQ" Kicker's "Remote Bass Level" If I already have my EQ tuned to the music that listen to, do I need a knob ?

Congradulations guys, I didn't get to go to the last competition on the coast but heard you did well again. 4 first places and 2 second places with you taking 1st and 2nd in on catergory. Keep up the good work, the stuff really sounds great! From my count that means you have 40 plus trophies this season between all the vehicles. Can't wait to see all the vehicles at finals, if they all sound as good as the couple I have heard you are going to keep blowing everyone away!! Oh and further contrats to Richard, I heard he went to a mid western regionals 3 weeks ago and took first place with 7 vehicles entered in his class and these were not any light weight vehicles, hey were …

So no more then an hour ago I had a post about a Focal amp I found on WoofersEtc.com for 200 bucks but then someone recommended an NVX amp. I checked out the website which i'll link below and was impressed with the gear and information provided. What they had to say about there company and videos I watched I figured they are definitely worth a look. As of now I am looking at Soundqubed for my amps but I can get NVX amps for a little cheaper and from what I saw they look better. Anyone have experience with this company ?? They formed in 2011 according to the website and the gear looks impressive. I'm even looking at the VCW122 12' dual 2 woofer. Stats look good. FI Q12 is…

Hopefully this time I can make a decision. I have a 2004 Tahoe, listen to mostly rock, rap, and blues, and want to have a two-way active front stage (finally decided to stay clear from the 3 way active front!). I want to mount in some kick panels, both the mid and the tweeter, which I will either buy from Q-logic or just attempt my own (which is what I am leaning towards). My budget for drivers is up to $500, although I don't think I will need that much. I guess they will be pretty much on-axis and for this project I am considering going more of the SPL route, beyond reference levels, with low distortion which I guess is now referred to as ""SQL"" (e…

1992... I was 13 years old and was bugging the hell out of my local car audio shops thanks to Mark Fukuda. My Mom bought me Auto Sound & Security every month since I was 12 (including MiniTruck). I had my first Kicker 8" sub at age 11 (hahaha my enclosure for it was a Tuperware container) Lol Kicker and MTX was the shit back then. Omg MTX IB was bang'n!!!! Anyways....1992... Mark Fukuda... as I turned the pages my jaw dropped. I honestly, 19 years later have never seen a better install. I still remember reading about him playing Floyd - The Wall at 150db. I remember thinking who is Pink Floyd lolololololo If I remember his 16 15" hit 152.x or 156.xx....man how time…

  23. What is the cheapest route to get 150dB at 25Hz? Two hardcore 15's and two SAZ amps, one HO alt and 10 batteries? Small vehicle walled or CRX subs up port back? How much would it all cost? Fiberglass, MDF, 2x4's, all thread, sound deadener, decent looking/running vehicle.

Hi everybody. I just installed my new high output alternator today hoping that it would stop my voltage from dropping like what would happen with the stock alternator. But it didn't. It sits at 14.1 volts where as the stock alternator sat at 14.4. I did all the big 3 upgrade wires in 0 awg wire as well. I am running a bzr1200.1d at 2 ohms with a 12" Type R D4. At 14.4 volts its supposed to push 900 wrms but the new 180amp alternator has the same voltage drop that the stock alternator had... Why isn't the new alternator keeping the voltage up?? Im not even pulling anywhere near 180 amps. Any input would be awesome.
