Hey guys just need some advice here. I have a 98 Dodge Ram Extended cab and plan to install a BTL 18 in the back. The seat will come out and I have ample room for enclosure. I just want to know if anyone else has done this kind of install in a similar truck and I basically want to know if the FI specs for box will be the best, maybe someone else has found something that works better. I have an Exile X2400.1 that is going to push it. I listen to mainly rap music and I want that sucker to pound. I already performed big 3 upgrade and have cap ready to go, my truck is diesel so I have 2 batteries already. I figured FI's specs for enclosure are on the money just looking to see…

Total volume = 5.333 (1 inch MDF) Port Volume = 0.64 Tune = 31hz Box dimensions Total Box = 38 x 18 x 18 Port = 3 x 16 x 23 Is this a good design for a ported 15, or two ported 12s? If not, what needs to change? also, could the subs be mounted on the top? Would this effect quality or spl?

  4. Relatively new to these kind of speakers(power hungry, big foam, high excursion monsters). Used to my old Orions and JBL GTI(the real ole ones that were based on pro drivers). Anyway, picked up a pair of these Eclipse SW8122DVC...spec sheet here(found in a different thread on this forum....TYVM) http://www.cartoys.com/cartoy/pdfs/Eclipse_spkr_manual.pdf The sheet seems to call for a sealed box.....but I have a feeling that a slotted port might be a good option too. I am shooting for a SQ system(yes I read here that there is no such thing as """""SQL"""""....lol, and I get the point, but I have had plenty of SQ systems that got REAL loud....sorry, it w…

I have 2 AQ SDC2.5 with an AQ1200D amp. I have a 5 Cube box for them now but due to the fact that it wasnt planned out very good the box in crap and is all but falling apart now. I came up with another design but im not sure how well this will work. The subs call for 2.5 cubes a piece but with my new design it will be around 2.2 cubes a piece and the subs would be pointing pretty much up. I know that these are not ideal conditions for the subwoofers however how much do you think this would effect the overall sound. This is it any comments plz.

I decided to finally sack up and start planning a blow through. I just can't find anything around the web that actually explains. I really want to use aero ports. Do you think, if I sent two aero ports through the bed, and into the cab, that would be sufficient? I'd like to cut the smallest holes possible. Although I said before that I sacked up, I'm still pretty scared about cutting up my relatively new truck =). So, anyone have personal experience, pictures, or even tutorials? Thanks OH. Before I forget, My goals are to sound good, but have a really nice side of spl on the side. Just a daily ground pounder that sounds good,. I'm still trying to decide on which subs, bu…

ok so i have built a few boxes now always using slot port and designing them myself and what not... but slot port always takes alot of space up... i am thinking of using aero ports.... now but it is hard to get exact sqin of port that i want... anyway my q is they displace less air correct... and if so i know it depends on length but is it a dramatic amount thnx trunk cars sukk

Have a 12" icon showing up soon and would like to get an enclosure ready for it. I've been using the bitpusher site to help me calculate the box. This is what I have so far Now I prefer to use a Single 4" precision port. I'm unsure how to calculate the entire port area I have with this setup. Reading through past threads and SSA's recommended 2.25 cu ft tuned in the low 30s. Also saw in a thread that for that size box I should aim for around 35 sq in of port. Pi * r * r doesn't calculate the length? Missing something somewhere maybe someone can help. Is a single 4" aero going to give me enough port area? Anything you see wrong here? One other thing. Going off the picture…

Alright, I want to switch to Aeros from my slot port to give my subs some more airpsace (2 15s with 5.5cubes is a little small for me).. anyways could anyone help me out here, I know how to design a slot port but not a aero port. How many would I need to get proper port area and the length for say 31-32hz? Box is 38.25wx16hx24.5d

Last 4 years and last 7 boxes I have all used slot ports. I have never even looked into aeros before so I got a few questions and would like some support on what others have told me about them. As of right now I am using the torez calculator to try to help me with this. The box Im designing is for a 21 warden, I would like to have 115+ sq in of port for it tuned to low 30s. I have been told that flared ports somehow equal a bigger straight port, example I was told that a 6in flare would equal a 9in straight port. Im guessing the torez calculator goes by straight ports that are not flared. I am getting confused with all the diff info I have been given and would like any ki…

Im going to be building a sealed trunk enclosure. I have a Zv4 15 that will be firing forwards. The amp will be a BE.2500. I need some advice on how big the box should be. My max dimensions are 15.5 tall 42 wide and 36 deep. I would like to use an aero port instead of a slot port. How wide and long should the aero port be if i wanted the tuning frequency to be at 30 hz? Also, if im going with an aero port, does that mean the box size doesnt have to be as big to accommodate the slot port? To get the 68 in^2 port area would i need to have two aero's or could i get away with just one? Any help is appreciated.

Well ive decided since i still have a week or two before i can start building my box, im going to design a ported box instead of a sealed box for my single ss rl-p 18. im going to stick with the suggested size and tuning(5cubes, 27hz) but i want to use flared aero ports. So here are some questions. 1) what diameter port should i buy and how many?( i kind of want two for the looks, but if ones better, let me know) 2) do you measure the flare of the port when tuning it? 3) were is a good place to buy them? thanks for the help!

What is the best place to find 4" id aero ports that don't flare out past 6.75" maybe 7" that won't break the bank? What would be the best brand for the price? Is it better or easier to use schedule 40 pvc pipe or the tubes you can buy for the flares or get a whole kit? Will any flare fit pvc pipe? Would they work if the port inside the box faced each other about 16" apart, firing in opposite directions? Ps i will have 4 sa-8s in about 2.73 cubes before any displacement with about 500 watts going to each and i do not have enough room to use 6". And i want to have it tuned for daily use, anywhere in between 33-40 hz

I am planning a box design in which I am using two 3" aero ports. The ports are supposed to be 7 inches long. My question is when using aero ports does the actual tube have to be seven inches or does the entire port assembly (flares included) need to be 7 inches?

I think I am moving from and L port to aero ports o I can get a little bit bigger box. I am trying to use this tool except I cant seem to get what I want. I am looking for about a 4.75 cuFt box (including displacement and bracing) with a depth no longer than 18 inches. I would like to get around 35hz for daily and 45-50 for competitions. Any suggestions? Help? The box is going to hopefully be 38w 17.5h and 18d which comes to a little more than 5cuFt and shuold be around 4.75 cuFt with displacement

due to the complexity of the sides of my box, its going to be kind of hard to build a slot port on the top of the box. i was thinking, instead of a slot port, should i do like 4 6" aero's? (or whatever i need to get the right amount of port area) which leads me to my questions. -if you have 200 (example) sq in of port area, with a slot port, if you switch to aeros, do you still need a ton of aero's to get 200 sq in? or does less aeros equal out to the larger port area of a slot port? -aero ports in a wall. how will this work? i know one con is i dont get the natural bracing a slot port would provide, but ill deal with that, and add some extra bracing. -difference in sound…

Curious, as anyone else seen a lot of box builders and designers using aero port areas equivalent to square or slotted port area? I was under the impression that the agreed upon rule of thumb was that you can use .56% less area while achieving like results. Within this practice, I find myself believing that if one were to use equal, that in theory, they are increasing their port area by, .56% I also lean toward this thought, if you correctly designed your enclosure and its port, based around the mathematics and t/s parameters of your driver, and chose to not use the formentioned rule of thumb, when using an aero port, that you have given too much port area to your design…

how exactly do they work?? i see people use them that usually have limited space but i dont understand why or how they are used. also do they sound any different then a regular slot style ported box? i want to do 2 15" lethal injection's but i would like to get a quick insight on aero ports and how they are used and if they sound worse then slot ported.

Would two 6" aero ports be too much for 1 - 15" Xcon? In June I'm looking to fix suspension AND put the bump back in the Camry... Porting it and sealing it from the trunk is the plan ... bow would be about 3.9 cubes with two 6" ports tuned around 33hz.... will be lower power for a while (500w) and later on thinking of going to something better...
