*hint hint My buddy is looking to build a center console box for an IA Lethal Injection 15. Looking at 3.5 cu ft ~50 inches of port and tuned to 32 Hz. Looking for suggestions and possible cut sheet. Going into a single cab dodge. From the back wall to as far forward as possible without losing cup holder is 48", between the seats is 14.75" and we're hoping to stay as low as possible for a custom arm-rest. Is this possible? How should he mount the sub? Trying to get as much SPL as he can for daily music listening. Driver displacement is 0.15 cu ft. I'd appreciate the help guys.

There are 2 drivers in each side wall that would acoustically, i assume, act as port length. So, if that's true, does leaving just the opening in the back act as length of the side walls which is ~25" long? also, i've never had the time to question these types of designs but does anyone have anything negative to say about drivers in the side wall like that? I've seen pretty much all different kinds of setups throughout the years and this particular one is not new either. I just don't understand what actually is going on when the front wave of these side wall drivers interacts with the port(2nd question).

So I've had the car a year, and after a spring break trip to Florida, I found out that it's cramped with three passengers and luggage for a week. My brother should be getting a car within two years and he wants the current set up, so I'm getting a head start on my planning LOL, ready to pull the trigger when I get the money to do so. I built my own floor for the extra battery and some storage space. The sub box currently fits across the whole trunk from the back to the break in those side pieces. I want to put together two separate boxes, each to house either an SA-8 or an SD-8, sub facing back. I still want to keep access to my spare, so the cover I made for it …

So I'm good at building enclosures.....calculating ported enclosures? Not so much. I've just bought a new tow vehicle and using some budget equipment to put a nice setup in it. These are new items I've had laying around to put into a project car I'm building that won't be finished for a while. Vehicle : 2004 Escalade ESV (Suburban sized one) Location in the vehicle: Rear hatch, against the 3rd row. Want to keep some cargo room Space available (Length x Width x Height): 46" wide is set. 16" deep is set. The height is my variable. 20" is maximum. All dimensions are internal. Subwoofer make and model: Subwoofers are JBL GTO 4 ohm models Subwoofer Size: 12" …

I have a 95 extended cab Silverado that I want to put a decent sounding system in. Nothing radical, just decent. The enclosure will be going under the back seat and the best i can figure I will only have ~2 cu ft to work with. The box could be 60"+ long but only ~14" deep and 4"(back) x9"(front) tall with a considerable section (21") that would be much more shallow across the hump. I was pretty discouraged when i measured my dimensions. I don't think i can raise the seat as it's mounted to the sides of the cab. My options are wide open. I am willing to do anything from 8s to a single 12" (doubtful). I'm not sure I can make a ported design work but I guess it's possible.…

From what I have read here the port area per square foot rule is just a myth, port area has nothing to do with the size of the box. I tried searching more and all I could find was that port area is determined by the parameters of the sub, tuning, and amount of power. So I am curious what formula is used to actually calculate how much port area you need? I am currently designing a new enclosure for my 15" Fi SP4 which is run off an AQ3500. My old box was designed to fit in a trunk but now I have a Tahoe so size is not as big of a restriction for the new box. It was 3.83cuFt @32.25Hz (after displacement). I like the low end but actually would like to try tuning lower. I …

Im designing a box for my new improved build and i jus want to verify that im doing it all correctly. The box will be for two 15 inch SSA EVIL series subs. But for right now i have two dc lvl 4 15's that will go into the box temporarily. So it will be designed mainly around the EVIL's. The car its going into is a 2007 Scion Tc. I measured out max dimensions and came up with a box that i think turned out very well. i wanted it tuned low, mid 30's and low 31's maybe. Heres what i came up with::: Pic from sketchup (Copied and pasted from MS word) Box Measurements Maximum limits for the SCION TC Width = 37 inch max (pushing) …

As the title states I'm going to replace my whole setup I need help with choosing what to do the new setup will consist of 2 Ssa icon 12's a dc audio 2k and I do not know what size I should have the enclosure at for the subs and only thing that will make it a bit hard for me would be the tuning. I was think tuning to 30hz but that might be stupid to tune it that low for those subs. Thank you for all that help and I don't mind reading links to help me out

Hey guys, so my dad really wants an Image Dynamics 12 for Father's Day and I want to build him a box for it. It's going in a Honda CRX, and I want to try and load it off the rear hatch. I just need a simple sealed design and cut sheet. He's got 35"s between the two shock mount plastic panels and 28" from the open storage box to the back so space isn't an issue whatsoever, especially for a sealed box. Only thing important is that I want it fairly close to the 35" across so I can mount it right behind the storage tray angled back to the hatch class. Any help? Thanks a lot guys, and here are all parameters you might need http://www.imagedynamicsusa.net/files/59633398.pdf

I am looking for a box builder in the Louisville Ky area. I live in the Jefferson-town (J-Town) area (40299-3520) of Louisville Kentucky & I was wondering if any of you guys would know or recommend any box builders in the Louisville Kentucky or Southern Indiana Area. I just want someone who is good at what they do & will give me a fair price. I figure that cutting out shipping costs will save me at least $100.00 & with someone local they can actually see my car & build what I am actually looking for. Thanks Mike

I been going back and forth about taking my rear seats out my crew cab silverado. The idea that i have if i remove the seats completely, is to build a enclosure/amp rack that rear passengers can still sit on and still be comfortable. I was thinking about covering both in some type foam and vinyl...have this been done before and would it work?

i have a box all designed on sketch up, 4.2cuft tuned about 30hz. the sub will be on the rear passenger side of the cab, it will take the middle seat and the passenger seat in the rear. the sub will aim inbetween the front two seats and the port will either face towards the roof of the cab all the way to the passenger side or towards the drivers side. what would you guys do? originally i was going to face the port towards the drivers side, but if i have a passenger in the back i think it might blow their ear drum a bit... but i am sceptical about aiming it towards the roof because i dont think ill have as much air moving throughout the cab as evenly? idk.. what would you …

hey guys i have a 2006 toyota tundra access cab. currently my sub is in a 2.5cuft box tuned around 32hz. its much too small. it is being powered by a percision power black ice bk1300.1d. and i have been fiddling around on sketch up trying to make a box to fit nice and tight up against my seat in the back passenger side. the box will be roughly 4 cuft with 2 4" pvc ports. will this be enough port area for my sub? the box i have it in now has much too small of a port. i am planning to tune to around 30hz this time. sub will be roughly in the center of the two front seats firing foward, with the ports facing the drivers side. there will be one seat still usable in the rear b…

HU: Pioneer P99RS Amp for front stage: Arc Audio KS900.6 Tweets: LGP 25NFA Mids: JL Audio 4" Midbass: JL Audio 8" Amp for sub: Sundown SAZ-1500D v.3 Sub: (2) Fi Audio IB315 I think I have my front stage dialed in pretty good. My tuning includes, gain level setting, t/a, phase adjustment, rta (not relied on heavily), eq balance adjustments and crossover setting. Not in that order but those are some adjustments I made. I also meet with a MECA multi champion who was very helpful in the tuning process. The two biggest issues my setup has right now is slight smearing to the right side and I would really like the soundstage to be wider. The smearing of the center image is ver…

This has nothing to do with audio, so if this is in the wrong section, I apologize and feel free to move it. The package tray for my hatch was broken when I bought the car. Looks like someone put something too heavy on it and cracked the structure inside. Can I lay chop mat down on top of the carpet and resin it or will the resin not adhere to the carpet? I'm just looking to do the underside of this to make it rigid enough to hold it's shape again when it's in the car. I've heard you should lay rope or something similar to give the mat a corrugated look for linear strength. Here's a picture of the underside of the tray where I'd like to strengthen it. The carpet is hook…

I posted this on another forum and I would like to hear the thoughts from the gurus on here as well I have been ready through pages and pages of threads on adding rear fill to help maximize the front stage. After understanding how rear fill is used for this application many folks (including myself) have been thinking how to acquire the necessary L-R. On a side not L-R seems to be the most common method although there appears to be other methods for generating a rear fill signal which require a fancy processor. The MiniDSP 2x4 has a plug-in Rear/Center Channel. This plug-in gives you the generated L-R signal, xover, 31 band eq, and up to 27ms of delay. You can al…

So I was using this box for my current 12" IDQ sub. The opening was ofcourse cut larger to accept the 12" sub since the box was designed for a 10. Was asking around and the idea was to use this design for my Icon sub that I purchased since I was getting rid of the IDQ. I downloaded the pre-designed enclosures for the Icon and after seeing them, I'm a bit unsure about now using my current box for this sub. Do you guys think the box below would work fine for the Icon? My current box is 1.45 cu ft @ 32hz. I knew it was going to be on the small size, but was told it would work fine. My main problem is space in the trunk of my car. I dont want a huge box and the 12 1/2…
