my subs are going to be upfiring (towards roof), would it sound best to have the port facing the rear of car? or facing roof (same direction as subs)? Or does it even matter? This is going in a 2door jeep wrangler. Thanks

I have a 2003 Jeep GCL and i am wondering if I can fit 2 21 inch Wardens in the rear storage area, a ported box would be optimal. I am just unsure if I have enough volume in order to fit the box. If anyone has any experience with the storage capacity of a jeep please help out.

I have a chance to pick up some 6" aluminum tube from work for cheap. Would this cause too much of a hollow sound or echo? I plan on securing them in the box. Possible having an end made that flares. Anyone tried this?

I have yet to personally use an RTA for my own personal use so let's see if I get this right- I want to use Pink noise because that is generated to play how our ears perceive sound. When analyzing what pink noise looks like on a computer, it appears from 20hz-20khz, for every octave from 20hz, the amplitude drops 3db. So, at 20khz, it's very low compared to 20hz but our ears must be very sensitive there(if you can hear it) to perceive a flat response. So, when i go to RTA my front stage, is my goal to also (if it were perfectly possible) to achieve a full range reading exactly how pink noise is generated? 3db drop for every octave up? In the end, I would assu…

I got my RL-p 15 metered in a ported box running it with about 800 watts and I hit 146.3, which is above my goal but not enoguh for me competition wise. So I was thinking about getting 4 or 5 Assasin 8's for competition. Only problem is that I have a ED 9.1 amp, and it only goes to 1 ohm, the speaekrs would be wired parallel and that would give them .8 ohms. I'm guessing it would be ok to run this on that amp because the wires and everything would bring it to a grand total of over 1 ohm right? Also, would five 8's be overkill? Should I just stick with 4 instead? Thanks alot.

Just purchased a couple of eclipse 88120s in a custom enclosure. I threw it in today and, similar to my hdc3, I am lacking in low end output. The box is dual chambered, tuned to 34 hz, and each driver has about 1.6 cubes. I thought that I did not need to build a new box because the tuning of 34 hz is low enough to achieve the lows Im looking for. However, like i previously stated, Im lacking low end output. It seems like Im never going to be able to get the flat response Im looking for. Thanks for the help guys! edit: The custom enclosure has two seperate ports, one for each driver. I could remove the divider between the two ports if that would help. But, as far as I know…

  12. Hi All, Now at my job i search McMaster-Carr very frequently. and today i decided "hey lets see what they have for sound stuff" (cause they have EVERYTHING! lol) so i did a quick search for "Sound" and found they have some nice sound barrier material and some nice sound dampening stuff, looks just like the Sound Deadener Showdown Stuff just thicker and with a backing ( http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi ) any ways i was just wondering if the stuff on mcmaster-carr is good sound barrier or good sound dampening? hi all i was just looking at a cabin gain chart and saw that most vehicles had about 25 db of gain at 25 hz but at 30 hz dropped to about 20 dbs of gain so that got me wondering if i would be better off tuning my box to 25 hz than to 30 hz because of this gain. JW. also does anyone have or know where i can find a cabin gain chart on an 01 tacoma single cab because the chart i have doesnt so i used a dakota instead thanks mike

I am doing a 4th order in my GF's 1998 Mustang GT convertible. The box will be where the back seat should be since the trunk is sealed off. She has 2 db Drive K9 12"s and a db Drive A7 1,500. I want to do a 4th order bandpass with a woofers behind either seat facing into the ported wide which wiill port into thr middle. = I am thinking 1 cube each sealed with 2 each in the ported side. So 2 sealed 4 ported with 80-100^2 port tuned to 48Hz. Any thoughts?

Hi.. this is my first build so i have little experience right now. Im getting 1 ICON 12 with either an AQ1200 or an AP1500 amp. I drive a 2000 jetta, the trunk is about 40 inches wide. I am not really sure what type of enclosure i need, the specifications for it, or where to get one so any help would be nice.

My substage is complete and now I am looking for some midbass/mid/tweeters. I have never used active crossovers but would like to for this build. Any suggestions for something that could keep up with (4) 18"s and 8kwrms. It is going in a suburban so I have all four doors available, plus the possibility of a custom center console. I was thinking about making center console enclosure for the midbass, but found out most mid bass speakers are designed for IB. Are there any that would work well in that style of enclosure? Would PA speakers(seen a lot of people using electro-voice) be a bad idea? Any suggestions or links to similar builds would be appreciated.

I have read alot on building ported boxes in the past couple of days but here is what i was planning on.... Putting two kicker 12" L7's in a ported box. Here is my ? When porting the box is it more efficent to put one port out the middle where both chambers connect to, or to port each individual enclosure on either side/ or in the middle just separated!? If using just one port is there a need to separated the two chambers before the port?? THanks!@

After comparing torres to the RE calc, I realized that it was off (re) by a lot more than I had expected. About an entire cubic foot off. So I think now would be a good time to build a new box. The main question I have is in reference to the "Port Top/Bottom" measurement, I'm not sure where the 4.50" comes from? I'm also not quite sure about how a slot port with no bend's would act since I don't think i've seen many people build one without bends. Main goal is to have the Hifonics brz15 laying face up and the port facing either the trunk or in the cabin, and to be removable (the box). Are there any real advantages to an inward facing port? I've heard that you would want y…

  24. i got a kicker l7 15 dual 4 wired to 2ohms into a hifonics brutus 1200. i just got my box built by one of my buddies who owns a shop. the box is roughly 5 cubes tuned to about 35hz pretty sure. i got everything together last night and spent all day today playing around and trying to tune it and it just does not want to put out those real lows in some songs. sounds like its just blowing air. None the less it tears apart the mid to high bass. i dont know what i could do to change it up maybe rebuild the port or something. not to good with this stuff thats why im asking you guys. inside of box dimensions: width 39 height 13.5 depth 18.5 its got 3 in wide slot port its just…
