My next subwoofer enclosure setup in my Hyundai Elantra will be a subwoofer forward firing into the cabin sealed from the trunk. Would there be any disadvantages to having the subwoofer mounted behind the back seat and the port firing up through the rear deck (both sealed from the trunk)? I do not know if having the port and subwoofer that far apart and on different planes will cause any weird cancellation or any phase issues.

I've got some complicated problems. Ok I'll just start with the maximum enclosure Size/Subwoofer Recommendations and we'll go from there. Anything marked with a * is a question/possible problem, please check these spots out. Woofer Recommends This: 2-2.5 Cubic Ft Per Woofer 50" Squared Port Area - 79" Squared Port Area Depending on Box Size. I would like to tune to 33 Hz I think that will sound good?* Enclosure Maximum size and WHY: 36" Exterior Width 30" Exterior Height 14" Exterior Depth Woofer Direction: Subwoofers mounted on top. Port Direction:* There is a door on one end of the enclosure and a seat on the other other end of the enclosure, there is a seat behind the …

I talked to Nick at Incriminator Audio (Subwoofer Maker) I believe, he said go with 2.5 Cubic Ft per sub and a 70 inchs port in a 6 Cubic ft Box. 2x Incriminator Audio Lethal Injection 12 Inch Subwoofers. I did some further refinements. This is what I came up with Subwoofer Volume - 2.5 Cubic Ft Port Hz - 32 Box Specs: Width - 36" Depth - 26" Height - 14" Net Volume - 6.36 Gross Volume - 5.08 Cubic Ft Volume Per Woofer - 2.54 Cubic Ft Volume Displacement: 0.22 Cubic ft - Woofers .056 Cubic ft - Bracing 4x 45 Degree Corner Braces 1 Cubic ft - Port Volume Port Specs: Port Volume - 1 Cubic ft Port Area - 91.05" Squared Port Diameter - 10.77" Port Width 2" Port Height 12.5" P…

I have a 98 S10 single cab truck. just bought 2 10" sony xplods. model xs-gtx100lw. along with a sony xplod 800w amp to push them. I, however, can not find how much cubic feet the speakers need. and I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me out with getting the best and most sound possible out of these speakers. I am going tomorrow to get the wood to start building a box. I am 6 ft tall so room is kind of an issue with scooting the seat up.

i got a kicker l7 15 dual 4 wired to 2ohms into a hifonics brutus 1200. i just got my box built by one of my buddies who owns a shop. the box is roughly 5 cubes tuned to about 35hz pretty sure. i got everything together last night and spent all day today playing around and trying to tune it and it just does not want to put out those real lows in some songs. sounds like its just blowing air. None the less it tears apart the mid to high bass. i dont know what i could do to change it up maybe rebuild the port or something. not to good with this stuff thats why im asking you guys. inside of box dimensions: width 39 height 13.5 depth 18.5 its got 3 in wide slot port its just…

I need help. I traded my 2 vvx-15 for a sundown v2 18 inch in a box that needs help. I want I box thats tuned between 30-34 htz. I want it vented not ported, I like the look better. I like how loud it gets but I would like to control it a little better when I turn it up, but I think its the box that leaks. I have a jeep grand cherokee, so I know I have the space for a large box. At the moment the the sub faces up I would like it if it fired to the back. Any help is greatly appreciated. And I am still running the planet audio bb2400.1

Hello, I have a single BTL N2 12" D2, running on my saz 1500 at 1 Ohm. The box is 2.1 ft3 at 32 Hz, with a slot port. Port firing to the side of my truk. The car is a Toyota auris hatchback. On the TL I only scored 135.8 db sealed at the windshield, and I want higher numbers. It was at 58 Hz : I don't know why it was so high ! 138db with driver's side door open. What can I do ? I want a new box, but do I look for a bigger box, smaller box ? Do I need to have sub and port firing up ? I think I will try an higher tuning, like 34 Hz. Is it worth it ? I'm looking for suggestions. So I can ask a good box designer to work for me.

So i made a 4th order bandPass for 2 obsidian 12s out of birch. I started sanding the enclosure and filled it all the screw holes sanded all those spots with 60/120/220 grit sand paper everythings smooth(so i thought) i started painting the enclosure with kryole dual primer and paint(spray can) i thought it would be good to use that lol well im pretty stupid to think that was gonna work great. The corners are very dull along wIth the edges that are sanded and the top and sides are super shiny and it looks like shit. Whats a good paint to use to paint birch with and have it turn out super glossy. My goal is to have it very glossy and not be able to see with the edges meet …

I'm going to be building an enclosure for a friend here in the next couple of weeks for 4 10's. I drew out the layout of the box on a big piece of paper. The original plan was to have the 4 subs upfiring with the port facing back. However, 2 of the subs are really close to the port opening in the box. I'm just wondering if the subs being as close as they are, if it will affect the way the subs perform. I have an alternate plan to face 2 of the subs upfiring toward the middle of the top baffle, and have 2 rear firing on the same baffle as the port. I have drawn a simple sketchup of what it would look like in both situations so you kind of get an idea of what I'm talking ab…

Last time i made calculations I didnt account for a few things including the end correction of my slot port. I hope somebody with a lot of enclosure knowledge can help me out with this. Port Area 126 inches2 Port Tuning 32hz Port Internal Dimensions 9” x 14” x 39.85” Port Displacement (8.25” of the port will be external)(31.6” Internal Port) 9.75” x 15.5” x 14.25” =1.24625651 cubic feet 9.75” x 15.5” x 12.1” =1.058 cubic feet 1.24625651 + 1.058 = 2.30 cubic feet + 0.18 cubic feet (Subwoofer Displacement) = 2.48 cubic feet (Total Displacement) Subwoofer Dimensions Needed (9.23 cubic feet) 36 x 15 x 35.75 = 9.231 cubic feet before displacement 9.231 – 2.48 = 6.751 cu…

Current setup: exodus ex-anarchy mids peerless/scanspeak hds tweets Kicks are sealed. I've started making new kick panels for the mids and tweets, possibly porting for more midbass, but I've started thinking about exodus mids in doors, get some midrange drivers (bumping up to a three way, I think I can manage ), put midrange & tweets in kick area, or just midrange kick, and or possibly tweets in dash and deal with window reflections. I like the idea of mids in doors so I could seriously free up some leg room, what downsides am I'm looking at? If they went into the doors, they would be mounted to a fiberglass panel/pod that's securely bolted to the sheet metal. The p…

I made up a few pages for port tuning, that account for port displacement, as I haven't seen anything online that offered it. Slot Port: http://portsgalore.stefanhinote.com/?do=portlength Aero Ports: http://portsgalore.stefanhinote.com/?do=portaerolength It uses the port length equation from the loudspeaker cookbook. Input: volume, port dimensions, tuning. It figures out the port length, and port volume (port length * port area). Subtracts port volume from original volume = net volume. With the found port length and net volume, it figures out the real tuning. From there it has something to start with, and starts adjusting the original tuning frequency until the net tuning…

Hey everyone. I purchased an SA-8 after reading a ton of reviews and now i am ready to start building a box. Since i've never built a box before i downloaded a couple of programs which apparently i have no concept on how to use :/ I listen to a variety of music from metal to dubsteb so i'm looking for a a box that can do both SQ and SPL. From what i've seen online it looks like .6^3 box tuned to 35hz is the way to go. Sub is going to have 500rms at 2ohm feeding it. I was thinking of having the sub point towards the roof and the port firing to the back. The narrowest point in the vehicle is 38". I emailed ram design to see if they could design me something but i haven't…

So I've come to a realization that I need to learn to do some woodwork and tool handling(no homo). I would like to eliminate the use of odd speaker adapters for my front door speakers, especially since I'll be redoing the front stage soon. Would a 6amp jigsaw with a blade for metal be able to get the job done of cutting the sheet metal of the door skin? If so, I'd like to cut a 10x7 shape or 10x10 square out of it. I would then create a wood frame/baffle to mount speakers to? Maybe directly to the frame or creating a speaker ring that would mount to the new frame? Ideas? Would that jigsaw be enough???

Hello gentlemen and ladies. Here goes my first post... I've been rolling with a 12" Polk SR DVC 4ohms 700RMS2.0cu ft. and had a baby she's just 7 months now, it's pain to carry that monster into the house every time we plan to go shopping with the stroller. Also feels unsafety with the huge box in the back of the hatch with baby on board. Today I was so excited to pickup a SA-8 V2 from a guy locally for $80, when I got there it doesn't seem like the SA-8 V2, so I though it's a V1 so I grab it anyway, came home start building my box, and do my research while waiting for the glue to dry, finally find out that that sucker sold me a E8v2, which i'm planning to get a SA-8, but…
