I will be building a box for 2 Sundown E 15s. The subs are dual 4ohm going to wire them to 1ohm on a audiopipe AP10001D. So they will be gettin a little more than rms wattage but I dont see that being a problem. Thats where i need help. I know on Sundowns website they recommend ported 3.0-4.0ft^3 @ 35 hz. What would yall recommend on box size and hz since i will be overpowering a little. Subs are going in a 2005 Silverado crew cab z71. I have the 60/40 sectioned backseat. I will possibly removing the 60 part for box. So pretty much what i need to know is that: ft^3 size/hz level SIngle chamber or dual? Daily application not sure on dimensions of section on backseat but i …

As the title states I'm going to replace my whole setup I need help with choosing what to do the new setup will consist of 2 Ssa icon 12's a dc audio 2k and I do not know what size I should have the enclosure at for the subs and only thing that will make it a bit hard for me would be the tuning. I was think tuning to 30hz but that might be stupid to tune it that low for those subs. Thank you for all that help and I don't mind reading links to help me out

HI everyone. I come with another question. I know there are probably many variables but I was wondering if there is a general guideline as to when bracing is required for a sub box. Lets say for instance my sub is a 12 that requires a sealed 1 ft.cu. box with 1 inch mdf. It will be fed 1500 watts rms. Would I need to brace this box? does it make a difference if the box is sealed or ported? Thanks!

I am working on an intrepid. I am building a new box from the ground up to compliment the rear deck that i am fabricating with fiber. I would like to build a box to be able to port up through the deck and blow into the car. I will be using 2 12" ICONS. I have never designed a complex box before, so this is what I ask. What would be the best way to fire the subs, what should i do with the inside of this box, and HOW should i fire it up into the car? Any help would be appreciated, keep in mind that I am a box newbie. Patrick

yup, the shit's still in the ceiling and it's gonna stay there. if you need to hear the drummer strait ahead and back 7 feet, the back up singer come 3 feet deep from 7 feet from your right, lead guitar and vocalist strait ahead yadda yadda... if you're all about staging, imaging, using time delay, phase, and EQ.... GOOD FOR YOU! I like it loud and clear. it is loud and clear. I like a ton of midbass and a ton of high treble and easy on the low treble and easy on the midrange. So this thing has come a long way, I now have: Alpine IVA-W505 touch screen DVD player so that I can use the touch screen to control the digital Alpine PXA-H701 crossover/processor. I have (2) Kick…

well i was expecting a db drag. and i get there and there is like 4 judges that sat in the car to judge on overall sound. they said that my rl-p's were by far the best subs they've ever heard!!! needless to say i took first place and a $500 gift certificate to extreme motorsports. i was really wanting cash, cause i don't wanna spend any money on my car so i'll probably just end up selling it.... but either way i took first

Okay, Elderado told me that in my car, i have a gas tank between the trunk and the back seat. I actually think that the tank wall is my trunk wall. Anyways, Odds are good that I cant get wire back through any cracks there.. So, where do I put it? <pics tomorrow when its daylight> So, I was thinking maybe right behind the drivers seat in a nice sealed box with some plexy glass over the top so it doesnt get stepped on. Either that *not behind the passenger seat becaues its always moved* or I can stick it in the rear deck. Like, I could be able to drop it inbetween the two rear speakers? But I would need to check the space between the deck and the gas tank. Als find ou…

I realize this is somewhat subwoofer dependent, but what are the best tuning frequencies for different goals like spl or sq. Also what would be a good way to match a subwoofer to the goals, T/S parameters? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

after a little debate.. well not too much I've decided this has to be asked on this forum not ROE, where most consider SQ to be 2 pair of loud Pa speakers with no tweets I'll be running a set of tc 3hp motors w/ fi top ends.. dare I say Sealed, over there If I mentioned sealed I'd be crucified But on to the front stage. I have a alpine 7949 deck, and a sony xm5046(mobile es) so plenty of power for a nice front stage. First time running active. I usually run passive comp sets, which I have liked, but want to try my hand at active and see the differecne. I was considering a set of seas excels, with a lpg tweeter. What would you suggest that would sound as good and …

i know pretty much nothing about mids and highs just to throw that out there. Is there a big enough difference between running mids/highs on 2 ohms vs 4 ohms that is actually worth sacrificing the power to run @ 4 ohms? or is 2 ohms going to be good enough for a daily driver? edit: by the way if anyone has a good place to educate myself on mids/highs that would be greatly appreciated.

http://www.craftsman.com/shc/s/p_10155_12602_00964473000P I found one of these at a local pawn shop and was wondering if it would be worth picking up for 50 bucks. The one at the shop has a attachment that looks something like a router and has a circle cutting attachment among other things. Really would just need it for cutting circles, and then possibly other household things. Sorry if this is in the wrong section didnt really know where to ask about tools here.

I have been messing around with SketchUp to design a box for my 15 Xcon, I have only built a few boxes all of which I used the re box calculator so this is new for me. I'm looking for any suggestions or recommended changes to what i have so far, as far as port area and tuning frequency. This is based off an estimated max size 34"w 17" h 18" d. (I'm going to make a test cardboard box to see the largest size that can fit through the opening)

So my game plan is to do 2 twelves facing front with port facing driver side rear fender area. The box width is going to be just wide enough to accommodate the subs so a little more than 25" but would it be better to have the height about the same as the subs or would it matter, in terms of SPL? If it's around 13.5" (internal height 12") then I wouldn't be able to stack the 4" aeros. If it's 15" then I can stack them but to me, I feel as though the more streamlined shape of the other box would allow for higher SPL. The taller enclosure would be shorter on depth too, obvioulsy. I could also just be thinking about this way too much but whatever

Ive never built a box that wasn't square all around so this is new to me. I have an angled back plate, so if I angle the port a long with it, the bottom of the port is shorter in length than the top. Which should make the tuning on one side of the port different then the other or how does that work? How do I create a center port like this and have the tuning and airspace I require? These are interior dimensions. I'm sure I'm over thinking this, but I want to stay as close to 13 cubes and 30hz as possible.

I have a Acura Integra Integra GSR, a ED 9.1 Amp, and a RL-P D4. I'm competing in the IASCA competition at the Nopi Nationals this year in Atlanta. I need help designing a box. People have told me I need a big box with alot of port area, and some people say I need a small box. So I'm confused and have no clue what to go with, I can't seem to find ANY information about any SPL box designs anywhere, out of a number of forums. If someone could help me, even with a roundabout guess of how big and how much port area I need, it would be GREATLY appreciated. I believe the resonant freq of my car is around 58 Hz, which I'm told is a good thing, I know how to tune the box and ever…

Ok I have an 08 atima coupe and just redone my trunk floor for new box. Anyway I have 3.7-4.4cuft (internal box volume) to play with, I'm pretty sure a round port isn't going to work and not sure how to go about a slot or sqaure port. I know I need around 52in of port area for 32 to 33hz but I'm just stuck due to my box shape which I uploaded a picture of. any suggestions would be great.

OK, so I am hoping that some box building gurus can help me stop pulling may hair out trying to decide on what box design and subwoofer choice I should go with. As you know, the Toyota MR2 is a very small car with not much room behind its only 2 seats. It is mid engine, so the trunk in the back is of no use to me for subs. they must go right behind the seats in a wedge style box. Here is an MR2 and a pic of the space behind the seats: So I listen to all kinds of music literally, well maybe not country so much, but lots of stuff. I want it to sound musically nice but definitely want to produce as much SPL or should I say """SQL""" as possible if s…

Well, I'm adding 2 more DP21"s to my Expedition in a month or two. I was planning on doing a clam wall at the B-pillars. But I also started thinking doing a diamond type enclosure would be pretty sweet too. So I'm looking for some opinions on what you think would be louder, first and foremost, and look better. Which ever design I go with will be at the B-pillars, between 35 and 40 cubes, tuned to 32hz. Please explain why you voted the way you did. I have never done either of these designs, so any tips are also appreciated. The subs.

Any advice on doing an external port, like how to attach it and are there any negatives to doing this? Im planning on getting 2 sa-8's and putting them under the back seat of my 03 extended cab 1500. I will have the port coming out the side of the box under the seat as well. I plan on making it so I can remove the port to exchange with others, really just to see the difference and also because of size restictions. Box will be 2 cubes after sub displacement, so I will probably do a 5"x6" port 32.5 inches long for 33hz tuning and another one fro 38 or 40 hz. Thanks for any input guys.
