Topic says is.. I'm still running a Fi ssd 15 and a Sundown sae-1200d.. I know I'm not giving a lot of detail here, but should this setup hit the lows like in the song " White Girl " ? If so do I need a new box tuned to a lower hz?

Not really sure where to post this but in my 30 yrs experience I've never seen anything like this and thought I'd share. I bought my 16 yr old daughter a beat down Toyota Avalon for her first car. It's got a junker JVC head works but the sound was extremely anemic. I popped the trunk thinking a cheap set of 6x9's would be a quick fix but these cars never had rear deck speakers. Well shit, I'm pullin door panels. That's when I saw them. ABS ported enclosures? Harmon made? The factory speakers were trashed, foam surrounds completely gone but I was intrigued. I grabbed a set of 4"ers, went to install and found out they're 4 1/2" holes. Cant really open the fronts up …

For my next set up I'm thinking of running an active 3 way system. I would like to run an Sax-125.2 or a Sax100.4 whichever is better for a 3 way setup. My budget its slightly fixed anywhere from 200-250 for the 3 way set up. This will be going into a 4 Door Explorer. I typically listen to anything from Rap to death metal to spoken word; I would like a system that is well versed and able to transit from genre to genre with ease. Also to be able to reproduce it accurately but also i need something loud to be behind 4 15's. I am able to fabricate things; i have fiberglassed and know how, also i have access to many tools. I need to start off finding Tweeter, Midrange, and a…

I am currently building a new setup and I am torn on how to tune my box. I will be running 2 18" Fi BTL N2's, 2 Hifonics 2600.10's, and 4 XS D2400's. I am posting to get feedback on which setup would be best, going with a spl setup and tune my box around 32-35 Hz, or go with a wave setup and tune my box around 25-28 Hz.? Feedback and oppinions are needed thanks.

I bought 2 aurum cantus ac165/50c2c to go in a 2 way active setup (morel 378s for tweets). The speakers are not made to run infinite baffle, but I figured I could make something work. I'm not quite sure dimensions yet for the door, but at first I was thinking of using those 6.5 foam speaker baffles that seal the speaker. I am doubtful that these will give them enough space or will be optimal but Id rather they be sealed in a tiny airspace then free air. I am going for sound quality in my front stage, so I want a more permanent better solution to this. Any tips on going about making an enclosure? Also to note this will be in a new chrysler 300 so I don't want to cut up t…

I have noticed that my subs (2 12 inch pioneer champs) are peaking high. I think my tune may be messed up but I just cant get it right. It will get real low and then attempt to hit a few high notes. The amp itself should be tuned with lpf at around 35 and ssf at around 20. Any suggestions?

I'm adding a budget sub stage to my girlfriends 99 Chevy Blazer. It will be 2 powerbass PS-12's on a 600 watt el cheapo amp. Her main choices of music are mainly alternative rock (Matchbox Twenty, Weezer, Audioslave, etc), and country. My question is, what would be the optimal enclosure for this listening style? Would sealed be best for this setup, or a slightly high tuned ported one? (If so, what frequency?) The goals of this system is not necessarily major output, but mainly just adding a good sounding blended sub stage. She doesn't need it to be super loud, but she does want some decent output to be there when she wants it. I will be installing a bass knob for her so s…

So a few months ago I built a ported box for my HT with an IDmax at 3.2 cubes plenty of bracing and tuned to 27. Although it is plenty loud I find it quite boomy. If I'm listening to music that doesn't have much below low 30's it sounds fine, but on Hip hop and rap it just slams from 26-34ish like holy hell. I finally broke down and bought a table saw. Holy..akdkdfd its nice having a good saw (550 for Delta contranctor 680, that lists for 720 so I didn't do too bad. anyway here is a t-line (or part of one that I put together last night, I'll try to keep updating pics. Assuming line length is nearly doubled when fully stuffed, tapering from 2sd to .95sd. around 7.3 cubes …

If you have two boxes at the same volume and say one had a 2" slot port width and the other had a 3.5" port width tuned to the same frequency would there be a difference? Would the 3.5" port allow you to feel the lows better than the 2" port but sound the same since they are tuned the same?

Is it cheaper to buy my own MDF and make a box than having professionals at a audio store do it? I plan on having a SA-12 and a box Ported tuned to about 32hz with about 1.7 cubic ft of space. I have the measurements and such. I used the re audio box calculator. I can get help from my woodshop teacher and some friends but I'm curious if it's cheaper. Idk how much they charge at the audio store but I'm sure it's not cheap. And another thing how good is birch over MDF? I can get birch free but everyone tells me MDF sounds better. Build would be musical and everyday driver not spl. Thanks guys can't wait to hear from you all.

I don't want to upset anyone by saying I'm looking for an SQ setup if I'm actually looking for SPL, so I'm hoping someone can steer me in the right direction. I don't like mainstream rap music, and I don't ever plan on getting my setup metered or compete, so big dB numbers arent a concern. I listen to mostly underground hip hop and a little bit of rock, like 80s metallica/slayer, so hardly any of the songs I listen to dip into the really low frequency range. I'm running 2 audiobahns in a sealed box at about 2.7cf, and because of their design, they are incredibly cramped in my enclosure (go into WinISD and look up the Audiobahn AW1251 and let it select the optimum sealed b…

I'm in the process of starting a new install in my '95 Probe. Purchasing a DD 3500 series 15 and RF 1000a2 from a friend. Initially I plan on running the box he was using in his Explorer which is around 5cf. with 3 4" aero ports, can't remember the length. I'd like to build a new box to better fit the Probe, and I'd like to see if I can't get a little more out of the setup in the process. In the Explorer this setup has metered at 147.?db and I'd like to see if I can't manage 150. Any suggestions on box design would be appreciated. I'd like to keep it tuned low ~30-32hz.

Currently I have four Kicker Comp 15s doing a pretty good #, really pounding for a street beater on such a low budget. In the vehicle, we have room for a 4th Order Bandpass. I used a calculator from www.carstereo.com to design one but doubt its accuracy. Can anyone aid me in designing a 4th order bandpass, or link me to a site with theory/equations for one? Simple calculators are hard to trust w/o knowing the math behind them!!

I have a DC XL m1 18 that i am wanting to put in my truck (02 Silverado 1500HD). I am thinking about taking the 60 part of my 60/40 back seat and making a box above my amp rack. I am wanting to tune to 30 hz or lower and would like to possibly do a hairtrick. Is it possible to do in my truck with a single 18? Here is what I have right now: 1 DC XL m1 18 D2 1 Crescendo BC2000D 1 Mechman 270 amp alternator 1 Stinger SPP1500D battery under the hood All 1/0 for big 3 and running to amp This is a box I come up with Would I need more port? Should I change anything else? And where should I place the port? the sub will either be facing up or forward. Should the port face forward…

I'm thinking about trying out a new enclosure for the Xcon's. Current box is 7+ cubes I'm thinking about going sealed and having them firing up. However, I don't think I'm going to like them sealed. If I do a new box and it's sealed, I'd like to keep within these dimensions 48" w x 16" d x 12" h And if I do another ported enclosure, I'd cut the width down and just build a taller enclosure and tune it to 30-33hz. Let me know what yall think and what suggestions yall may have. Thanks!

  21. Howdy, I am going to be walling the astro soon and wanted to get some ideas of what type of walls there are and whats the benefits to them.I am walling it with 8 18" icons I havent set the amp in stone yet but I am contemplating between a DC 12k or a Soundigital 16k. once again the amp is up for debate. There will be a multiple alternator setup with battery bank to supply the amp or amps that are chosen. but with all that out of the way! Dimensions I have to go with are 48" tall 51" wide and up to 97" deep but I really dont need that deep lol! we still need to leave room for amps and batteries! I was throwing around the idea of a clamshell or maybe a 4th order just not …

Ok guys, I was looking into a few stats on bench testing, and noticed that amps wired to ".5 ohms nominal" could see up to 1.5 ohms in reality. So, with that in mind, I read into box rise and all that good stuffs. I was just wondering, If I skip terminals on the box altogether and run wires through a small hole (that would be sealed up after of course) or out through a port would this help at all? Or would the longer length of wire just defeat the purpose? Thanks in advance, as always.

Hello again! Wanted to have a quick poll/question. So do most of you use MDF or HDPE for door speaker applications? I know some people won't touch any plastic for audio, but some would swear by some of the high quality stuff like HDPE. Your guy's votes/opinions?
