SPL & SQ / Fabrication

i'm new to car audio, but would really like to learn to custom build and fabricate (amongst other things), so i was wondering where i could go to learn to do those things. i know there are tutorials, but i learn better with hands-on experience, so are there any places anyone could suggest. thanks for your suggestions

I have an old lanzar max12 subwoofer. My friend wants to get a system for his car but really dosnt have much money for one. If i put the max12 in a custom made t-line box that i made and gave it like 200rms would it be decently loud? Or is there something else i should do to get the most out of it? Im being paid to install everything and make his box so i do want it to turn out very nicely if possible. What does it usualy cost to wire for an amp and just put the box and sub in? (iv done all my own stereo on my own so idk how much to charge him...)

Assuming all have the same sealed/ported volume and same port size. I know the pics aren't to scale so don't take that into consideration. I have seen pretty much all of these types used, so I know any would technically work but I wonder about cancellation with all but # 2. The box would be for 8 10's, tuned to 45hz with about 35 cubes total if you're curious. I would have never considered facing subs at each other in the past but I've seen some of the loudest 4th orders with subs facing right at each other like design 1 and 3 so it might not be as much of an issue as I was always told. here is a pic of my trunk: I have a 12'' DC lvl 4 sub. I drive a sedan. I like to listen to a lot of pop rock // pop punk // metal music, some have fast bass drums//guitars I think I'm going to go with some type of ported box, which should I go with? a slotted, vented, ported, or what? Can anyone help me design a box for my subs? I also don't know which way to port it, towards the trunk? I'd like to have the box toward the side of the trunk, so I can still fold down the back seat and access the trunk.

Hi i've had my fi btl in now for over two months and although im fine with it i've noticed its not hitting the highs quite as well as i want it too....but the lows are exremely awesome i have the box tuned to 33hz could that be the problem...any help is appreciated.

1 18" DC Level 5. Still waiting for some other bits to come in (amp/battery). But in the mean time, we want to go ahead and start on the box. We were thinking of these two options. 1) Sub up/ports up. Have sub in middle, with a port on each side of sub instead of a single port. Does anyone see any negatives to this besides using up more wood/cost more? etc... Basically would like to do it this way because OCD side is taking over, and we would like to keep it symmetrical. 2) Sub up/port back. So... me and my dad are in the process of rebuilding a 1970 vw bug, and of course... i plan on putting a system into it. the main problem will be with the placement of the subwoofers, bugs are tiny vehicals with almost no extra space. we would prefer to keep a backseat but would be willing to give it up if need be. So does anyone have any ideas for a good subwoofer and somewhere to put it. money shouldnt be too much of an issue but it must be within reason... The enclosure i am looking for would need to be 1 cubic foot with aero ports tune at 35hz. As far as space i have to work with i draw a simple image of what the space i have to work with.

whats the smallest ported box, but most spl with 1100w. its going in the trunk of a 94 corolla so size is a issue. thanks jamie

I have an older corolla, i want to go with a 4.0 ft^3 slot-port tuned @ 32Hz. Its a small trunk the max dimensions are 33x16.5x21.

I want to built a box for four 10" Dcons max demissions are 37"W x 15"H x 22"D but can stretch the depth a little. . Im using a rockford T1000 at 1ohm. What is suggestions out there thanks in advance

ok i built a box the length is 31 inch's with is 21 inch's hight is 17 inch's now i have 1 port comming off each side of of the outer 31 inch walls they are 3by21by22 one port on each side of the outer walls of the 31 inch's iam trying to find what cubic feet i have and what is my box tuned at on hurtz ?? any help would be verry helpfull i dident no i could get so stressed on a speaker box!18 fi btl iswhat i have

I've decided to build a box for my 15" SSD that will fit in my trunk. I was wondering if these numbers sound right or what it really should be. Lol Box will be 28" wide, 17" tall, and 22" deep. Port is 3.5" wide and 21 inches long. Looking to be around 4cuft tuned around 31- 33hz Does this sound right?? If not help is very appreciated!

well i competed today w/ my new amps. 2 rockford bd 1500's on my 2 kicker L7's in a new CRX and just thrown, finished at 3:30am we did a 147.7 on the new termlab. good thing is we didnt blow an amp so now we can progress instead of blowing an amp everyshow. now to play and get loud :boink:

Alright guys, im in college for Mechanic Apprenticeship and one of my courses next semester is Electrical Accessories, Guess what we get to build! A sub box, Considering i already have a daily box for my BTL 18, i was considering building something for pure SPL if i ever want to try out a competiton.. Anyways, i was just curious from your experiences what platform is the best for pure spl builds, just a basic slot port, 4th order, 6th order ect. (This will be in the trunk so no walls.) okay guys i have finished everything on my box expect the circle for the sub and the hole for the wires.. my friends router is broken now and no one seems to have one.. what tool can i purchase that is CHEAP and works alright.. it doesnt have to be perfect...

After i told him my system he txted me two days later telling me he got a new system he said he got four dual 2 ohm 12s running off a 1400 watt rms amp and he says the box he has is 1.4 cubic feet per sub sealed but he said its tuned to 40 hertz. You cant tune a sealed box cam you? and anothr reason i dont believe him is he drives a pt cruiser and when i asked he said he still has his back seat in. Could u even fit an almost 6 cube box in that timy a** storage compartment? Thanks for all replies
