Okay. So I've got very limited trunk space. And a small-ish. Budget. I'm hoping for someone to help me with some sort of box design for an FI Q 10, in a ported box. Max dimensions being 30" Wide, 14" High, and 17" Deep. Already have an Amp picked out too that i'm gonna buy from a buddy for good.

I saw this on a video and I want to know if its possible for me. Here is some info: I want to go with the musical ported measurements. 2.5^ft., 4" Vd, 13.5" Vl, tuned to 28htz I want the outside length to be 31" (including ports) max, I want it 14" high. What I don't know is the depth. I have a 3000 watt amp and listen to various kinds of music. If someone can help me on the dimensions and maybe even a plot of the spl curve, it would be greatly appreciated and I can get to building. Thank You. Edited to add, If I left anything out, please let me know so I can provide you with the info. Thanks

I have an old sub box that came with an RE SX15 I bought used. It is 3.1 cu ft net before driver displacement. It has 2-3" aero ports in it. 9" long. I used it before with the sx15 wired at 2 ohms on my saz-1500d. I never heard any port noise, but it didn't sound great. I later built a 4.25 net cu ft box for the RE tuned to 30 hz. It sounds great. Well I think I have a buyer for the RE and was wondering if an SA15 would work in the old box. It's about the right volume and tuning would be right about 35hz(recommended) but it's seriously low on port volume. I was also thinking I could put a third port in it for burps and bump tuning from 35-45hz. Not to mention increasing …

well i ran into an issue today, which isnt TOO bad just its one of those things that dont go as planned that you gotta get around well i was going to start a portion of my new build today, or at least test fit (thank god i test fit on this and didnt run into it last minute) but i had originally planned to fit my ID CTX65cs comps in my doors, the mids are 6.5" which generally i can fit that circumfrance, however.. not that specific depth i made these rings to go on the door panel, they are 3/4" MDF, with a 1/4" flush cut out for them.. flush is king and they fit in the rings like a charm (first time i made my own rings - so i was happy) i primered them and painted em so th…

as u can tell, no where to put subs under the seat. behind the seat, there is very very little space. The back seat is a 60/40 bench seat. that means one side is a seat and the middle seat, while the other seat is just 1 seat. lastly u can see that the console is not very wide, its not even 10" wide so cant even do a 10" sub there unless someone has an idea. only way i see console box working is if i downfire it, but it would be a tall box, as the sub cant mount between the seats, so it would be above the seats. so take a good 5" or more mounting depth sub, +the 4 inches to get over the seat+ 2-3 inches behind sub, it would be really tall. also behind the console, i tried…

Well, as some may know (from my thread in the subwoofer/speaker forum) I have an RE Audio seX 15D4 coming my way. So, I am in need of building an enclosure for it. So, this will be going in the back of a Chev S-10, and will be powered by a JBL 601.1 amp (receiving ~600 watts RMS) This will not be for competitions of any kind, however I do enjoy listening to music, as such I want something that has the ability to sound decent and yet still get fairly loud for just general driving around use. So, for dimensions, I can go up to 40.5" wide by 18" high by 14" deep (outside measures). I am looking to do a ported enclosure. Not decided on whether I should go slot port or roun…

I am getting ready to build a nice simple sealed enclosure for my 12" Xcon. While im building this, I would like to go ahead and build an amp rack. I want something fairly simple. A false floor with the amps mounted down in the floor would look nice IMO but I need help as to how to start or what to do? this rack is for my 2000 Celica and the two amps are a Kicker 10ZX350.4 and a SAZ-1500. Pics or videos or just advice would be great!

Im BACK! After being gone for a while traveling the world I have come back to my fellow members / friends / people / dudes / dudettes and folks on the good 'ol ssa forums (good job Mark). I am starting a rebuild once again. I literally blew my old box apart so its time to go bigger, badder and more bracing! I noticed a huge improvement from my 3.5cuFt box to my 4.25cuFt box. I hope to do the same when I hit a 4.75 ish box. I am installing into this box a single DC 15" woofer being powered by a 3500D. Here is what my plan is: BOX: Height: 17.5in Width: 38in Depth: 18.5 CuFt: 5.083 Square Port Volume Internal: 1134 Square Port Volume Displacement: 1144.125 Tuning Freque…

Tomarrow I will build a new box for my new Xcon 12. I have two designs to pick from, one will be 2 cubes at 30hz and other will be 2.4 cubes at 30hz depending how much room I want to give up. (or anywhere in between I suppose) When I first got the Xcon, I put it in the box my Death Row was in. About 2.1 cubes at 31 hz, with 25^2 inches of port. There was definately some chuffing going on. My new box I want more port area. Max height of port will be 12.5 inches (14inch max height for box). Will either do 2.5 or 2.75 inch wide, for 31.25^2 in or 34.38^2in. Will either of these help with the port chuff I experienced with my old box? I know the bigger the better usually…

Just purchased a couple of eclipse 88120s in a custom enclosure. I threw it in today and, similar to my hdc3, I am lacking in low end output. The box is dual chambered, tuned to 34 hz, and each driver has about 1.6 cubes. I thought that I did not need to build a new box because the tuning of 34 hz is low enough to achieve the lows Im looking for. However, like i previously stated, Im lacking low end output. It seems like Im never going to be able to get the flat response Im looking for. Thanks for the help guys! edit: The custom enclosure has two seperate ports, one for each driver. I could remove the divider between the two ports if that would help. But, as far as I know…

I'll be building a new box this weekend for my new Xcon 12. I have seen quite a few boxes with black carpet and white ports lately, and I really do like how they look. So I was gonna try one myself. Parts Express has some black carpet. One has a latex backing and the other one doesn't. Is there a plus to one over the other? Should I be looking else where for carpet? What have you guys used? I've never done carpet, just textured paint, and want something differant. I am just unsure what to get. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Tony Nelson

I'm gonna be helping a friend build a box for 2 cvr 15's. It will be in the trunk of a 4 door saturn ported through the rear deck. I haven't played with cvr's much so im not too sure how to get the most out of them. Space is limited so i was thinking maybe 7 cubes with 112" of port tuned around 50. Starting it this weekend and could really use some help. Anybody have experience with these subs in different boxes?

Hey guys, I have been into car audio for about 5 years now and I believe I am fully ready to to do what I would consider a high end setup. I currently have a 2002 Hyundai XG350L with my 2 mtx 4500's, alpine amp, and rockford fosgate p1 components and 2 ways in the rear deck, with a P300.2 powering them. I am getting ready to move into my parents new house within the next month and will have a full size garage to work in. This will give me the place to let my mind expand and come up with ideas. I have been looking around at some new subs, I Have a couple of ideas in mind but am open to any suggestions as I havn't heard any system bigger then 2 cvx's on a JL 1000. I a…

Hey guys, I am in the talks with Steve, the owner of subthump.com. They make some of the best sealed prefabbed boxes I have ever dealt with. They are simply amazing, the prices are budget friendly. Their main focus are on sealed boxes, because they aim at the people who are on a budget and they can mass produce. So I have been throwing emails back and forth and emphazised how much pupularity there is out there for the Sundown Audio SA8's. Now we all know these things shine better in ported boxes. My box building days are over and subthump is nortorious for squeezing out as much air space and the deepest depth for subwoofers. Here is my first subthump box. Ran this box in…

Right now, Im running an audioque hdc3 12 in a 2.2 cubic ft box ported at 30 hz. Im losing alot of sound quality with this box and I was wondering if there are any specific box types (other than sealed) in which I may be able to retain a bit more quality. Im aware that the hdc3 is known for poor sound quality but Id rather not purchase a new driver at this time. I know anybody could tell me that it varies from car to car or something general like that but Im just looking for anyone with some experience who may be able to help me out. Open to any suggestions! Thanks

Now that i'm playing the find-a-car game again, the beetle is back on my list, for price reasons. I currently have nothing planned (well i know i want thump, but beyond that, nothing) With a budget of $3k what is the loudest you could get a beetle, tuned low, to peak around 27-29hz. Back seats are optional. Would like a pair of subs, but a single badass sub wouldn't be the worst. everything besides the fabrication of the box, is done by my hand. This seems like a backwards goal, but my desired show off songs would be, like, Trunk Bang by dorrough and I cook - by OJ da Juiceman. If the low tuning doesn't murk the score, i'd like to be able to compete. Mid 140's would be a …

I am doing a 4th order in my GF's 1998 Mustang GT convertible. The box will be where the back seat should be since the trunk is sealed off. She has 2 db Drive K9 12"s and a db Drive A7 1,500. I want to do a 4th order bandpass with a woofers behind either seat facing into the ported wide which wiill port into thr middle. = I am thinking 1 cube each sealed with 2 each in the ported side. So 2 sealed 4 ported with 80-100^2 port tuned to 48Hz. Any thoughts?
