Not really sure where to post this but in my 30 yrs experience I've never seen anything like this and thought I'd share. I bought my 16 yr old daughter a beat down Toyota Avalon for her first car. It's got a junker JVC head works but the sound was extremely anemic. I popped the trunk thinking a cheap set of 6x9's would be a quick fix but these cars never had rear deck speakers. Well shit, I'm pullin door panels. That's when I saw them. ABS ported enclosures? Harmon made? The factory speakers were trashed, foam surrounds completely gone but I was intrigued. I grabbed a set of 4"ers, went to install and found out they're 4 1/2" holes. Cant really open the fronts up …

Getting ready to do a little sound deadening this weekend. This is going into an 07 Altima. Do I need to remove any factory deadener that is glued to the floorboard or any other place. I'm not talking about any jute carpet or material that can be easily removed with my hands. I know that some cars have factory carpet/rubber like padding on the floorboards, does this need to get removed or can I just deaden around it? Thanks. Thanks!!! :drink40:

I am going to start on this project very soon so I thought I'd start planning right now.. Here is what I wanted to do.. I did not want to sacrifice my whole cargo area so I got my sub box made to take up only half of the whole cargo space so I can have half of the space to store things or whatever.. And then I realized that I have no place to mount my kicker 2500.1 which is a fairly large amp so I decided that I would want to build a false floor with plexiglass on the other half of the cargo space in front of my subwoofer box.. (as of now my amp is sitting on my rear seat folded down (i definitely do not like it at all and I do not want to mount my amp on the sub box as …

So I want to build a false floor in the trunk of my Miata, to cover the amps that are sitting in the recessed well of the trunk. Never having done this before, and not too skilled at woodworking, how do I make a template design that conforms to the outlines of the trunk? I know they say to trace it out on cardboard, but how do you get the cardboard pressed up into all the nooks and corners of the trunk so the tracing is accurate, to trace out a line that shows the exact curve or square of the trunk floor? So the final wood floor basically press fits into the corners and walls of the trunk? My thought is to have a floor that covers the entire trunk, with the section cove…

What has been your favorite show you have attended, not necessarily competed in? I would say the best show (besides SBN) would be the first show at Ft. Drum, NY back in July of '00. It was a smaller IASCA show hosted by Terry Floyd. There were maybe 25 or so SPL cars and about 10 or so SQ cars. I met a lot of people at that show that wound up being good friends. Highlights from the show. I had the high SPL for the day at 151.0 I caught my car on fire! 2 of my other buddy;s got 1st in their respected SQ classes Here is a buddy's truck that won one of the pro classes. He went on to IASCA Finals that year. Real sweet truck.

I have a non wall box for a 21 warden going in a 2 door blazer, I have two boxes saved as a design right now. Both are about 8cu after all displacements and have 120-130sq in of port. The box is set up for sub up port back. My question is, would having the port on the side vertically facing the hatch make any much difference then if the port was on the bottom running length wise horizontally facing the hatch. I know each vehicle is diff and theres no telling whats better, but figured maybe the way the air moved would be diff or somthing. Thanks for any help

1 18" DC Level 5. Still waiting for some other bits to come in (amp/battery). But in the mean time, we want to go ahead and start on the box. We were thinking of these two options. 1) Sub up/ports up. Have sub in middle, with a port on each side of sub instead of a single port. Does anyone see any negatives to this besides using up more wood/cost more? etc... Basically would like to do it this way because OCD side is taking over, and we would like to keep it symmetrical. 2) Sub up/port back. This would just be sub up, with a single port along the bottom of the back of the enclosure. Pretty straight forward. Basically, just looking for yall's opinions. Which do you t…

  9. Hey everyone. I was wondering if anyone could explain to me how the freq of a box affects the sound, like what a low freq is good for and how it sounds along with a higher freq? Also, when the inside corners/edges of the box are angled, will that give you better spl? And I was thinking of sanding the edges on the outside of the box to a curve to make them round instead of a straight edge...is that a bad idea? Thanks in advance, Jack3d **Any help is always appreciated

Does anyone know any online dealers that build fiberglass boxes anymore for a decent price? I emailed Fisher Audio but they no longer make FG ones. I would do it locally but they charge an arm and a leg for them.

I'm currently thinking about building a box for a 12 btl with both the sub and the port aimed into the cabin, sealing off the trunk from the cabin. I have looked at tons of boxes doing this but they all port on either the right or left side of the box. I often have 4 people in my car so this would mean the seats would have to remain up giving the port very little room to breath. My middle seat has an arm rest that comes down and my idea was to have the box port right there so that i can just put the arm rest down and give the port a place to breath. My question is can i port the box in the middle and place the sub to either the right or left of the port. I don't have a i…

  16. Hey guys I have a Fi BL 15" fully loaded woofer on the way. I will be building my box very soon here. I'm going to be running a Sundown 1500 D amp to it. I will listen mostly to low HZ rap or bass songs. I am looking for 32 HZ. Few questions: - Can someone give me some measurements for a ported box that is meant specifically for a BL 15" with 1500 RMS going to it? - I have read that this sub woofer recommends a 3-5 cu ft box. Does leaning towards 5 cu ft box have any benefits in SPL? -Any internal box bracing necessary with 3/4 " MDF wood? - Any cotton material necessary inside the box? Thank you

Wiring: Knuconcepts.. look Not included in the kit are RCAs and the speaker wire. Also should i get 10 or 12 gauage, and what do i need to fit it into the terminal on the sub? Enclosure: 6^3ft after all displacement and port, and tuned to 34.4xxx hz. I guess what i'm looking for is the O…

I'm going to build a truck-style enclosure for a Fi Bl10 with a 3'' aero. Dimensions are w: 38 h: 12 d1: 6 d2:8 This is 1.217ft^3 internally. After the bl10 displacement it comes out to roughly 1.1ft^3. Ok,so far a lot of testing and tweaking I cannot get my 187s to sound right or get nearly as loud as two 15s should. So I am doing a swap out, I have narrowed it down to 2-3 subs. The Fi BL d1 12, the DC sound labs level 3 D1 or this is a huge "maybe" I was recommended to try the lanzar opti drive 12..........? just trying to get some feedback and if anyone has personally used/tested any of these subs going to run it off my AQ 1200d
