Hey Guys, i'm sorta new to the forum so do bash me too hard I am designing an enclosure for a 21" Death Penalty. This is my 4th variation: 8.533^ft, Tuned to 33hz, Kerfed port opening, Double baffle, 1 1/2 Port bracing, 1" Dowel bracing, 121^in of Port. This is going in a 1996 Blazer, Port faced towards the hatch. I want it to as good as it can at being "musical", do you think it will sould all around good with this enclosure? Give me your opinions, thanks.

Ok so i have been doing a lot of research for the past 3 months on my plans for a setup. i decided that i am going to go with 4 18"Fi SSD in a blowthrough enclosure designed by peter kulicki (still designing) with a Sundown 3000D (still saving up for it). but my dad told me my subs are going to kill my highs. currently have 4 kicker 6x9s doing the work but i am looking for some suggestions on an extreme setup for some highs in my single cab. by extreme i mean i want way more than a set of comps and tweeters. any help will be appreciated if you wanna check out some pics of my truck you can check it out here!! http://www.cardomain.com/ride/797852

Build details : 99 Tahoe 6 zv4 15s D1 mega roll cones 2 taramps md 12k’s @ .67 ohms dual 270 alts / 135ah cmax full fiber glass cab, box sealed to cab with fiber glass, stripper pole ect ect I’m torn between a 6th and a 4th order wall with this one. I’m told the zv4 do well in a 4th but really wanted to do a 6th tuned to 25/50hz with 4 6” aero ports in the rear and square port up front The plan is loud and windy however my concern is that I’m estimating to clamp 20k or more out of the amps is my general guess (which could be wrong) and throwing that much power at the subs in a 6th will have them slappin like hell. I plan to under size the…

Whats up SSA. Im currently in the middle of my full system install and just took out the stock speakers today. My car has stock 6.5 Infinity components in the doors (woofer and tweeter mounted seperately) and it looks like it has a decent speaker mount/baffle whatever it is called. On the inside of the mount it specifies that it is composed of Polycarbonate with 10% Glass Fiber. I will be replacing them with a JBL P660C component system and was wondering if I would have good results using the stock speaker mount to install them. The new speakers are considerably more powerful and I will be sending ~120watts to them, I imagine the stock ones were seeing less than 45. …

I've been trying to find a 12 that would give me the best output for my 350z....so obviously I don't have a ton of space but I'm thinking 2.5 cubes before displacement. I don't know a lot about this stuff so I thought I would come on here and ask. I was either thinking a xcon or a sundown Z maybe or soundqubed to save some money. Any opinions on what I should do would be great. I forgot to mention that the amp is a older nine.1 which is about 1500 rms at 1ohm.

I want to mount a Double DIN unit in my 1.5DIN dash opening. Yes, I know it is 1" taller, and I know I need to be doing some modifications. I can handle that. My problem is, the unit I want to use does not come with a cage. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-qehudI3MTzg/c...550&I=257AVX706 So, I need to fabricate a way of installing the Double DIN in the dash without use of a cage. Perhaps I can use an already existing kit... and mold it into my factory stereo trim piece. The whole bezel over the stereo and HVAC controls comes off. And use a kit like this one: http://www.scosche.com/scosche_caraudio.as...&ItemID=HA1566B Mold the kit right to the bezel, then slip it in…

when you build a box with a square or round port, isnt it nearly impossible to stay within the 12-16 sq in of port area per cube rule? if so what is the rule for those? and when making a external port it is still the same length as if it would be internal correct, only it is on the outside...

So, I need to find a small, color, wide angle camera to mount in the mustang. looking out the rear window. Prolly mounted to the headliner looking through the hatch glass.... maybe in the hatch keyhole. Inversly, I'd also need to find a cheap LCD monitor to glass into the dash. not so big. 4-7". I need some kind of rearview mirror... a wall will tend to prohibit that. any advice? Google has yielded me alot of $500+ rearview systems for RV's & delivery trucks that are quite big & bulky. Thanks -Nick

I will be building some custom tweeter pods for my new Morel tweeters that are coming, I was wondering if someone with a lot of experience can tell me some of the better directions to aim them. I'm looking for good staging, and good response. Any help will be much appreciated.

Alright guys, I've had these Bravox 3 ways for a while now. My wife didn't want to tear into the van until the Atlas's had died and they're on the way out. The front passenger mid has been giving the "Death Rattle" from time to time and it's getting worse, so my wife is breaking down and wanting me to begin getting the design, supplies and such together to be ready to make a quick change and build for the new set. That being said, I have some idea's about how I am going to do it, but I wanted to run it by the great minds here and see if there's a better way to go about it. First of all, here's a picture of the inside of the van to give you an idea of what I have to wor…

Way late but as promised here are a few pics, sorry it took so long and even if you don't know it all you guys on the forum have helped me in some way or another. The idea was to obviously keep a sub inside the car (like my 8's that were in there before) those of you who know BMW trunks understand why. Keeping it stealth was a main focus hence the flat black paint it really blends it into the car. Any and all comments are welcome, keep in mind I designed it to be way stiff, sound great, and astetics came in last. I estimate that it is around 1.2 net after polyfill. I set it on top of my 1.5 cu ft net box and it was fairly close. Later, b

There are 2 drivers in each side wall that would acoustically, i assume, act as port length. So, if that's true, does leaving just the opening in the back act as length of the side walls which is ~25" long? also, i've never had the time to question these types of designs but does anyone have anything negative to say about drivers in the side wall like that? I've seen pretty much all different kinds of setups throughout the years and this particular one is not new either. I just don't understand what actually is going on when the front wave of these side wall drivers interacts with the port(2nd question).

I've been reading the Loudspeaker Design Cookbook and found the effects of lobing due to driver placement on the baffle, but am still left wondering two things. Use the picture below as a reference to how the placement would differ. Assume same port length and volume for each. #1: The port ends in a different location inside the box, does this have different loading effects on the sub? From appearance, it would seem that the air flow in each would be somewhat different and affect the subwoofer? #2: What happens to the subwoofer and response as you move it closer or farther away from the port? Is it best to have it centered or off to a particular side?

Hey guys, got a huge favor to ask, i'm doing my first build for a customer, for a neighbor, for an Icon 15d2 in about 4cubes @ 28hz forward firing in a 01 deville What should I shoot for for port area, and have any of you done forward firing setups in a deville before? I'm tryna make a good impression lol. We're going to carpet it to match the trunk for a stealthy look, well, as stealthy as a ported fifteen can be lol. It'll fire through the ski pass. I guess I'm super anxious about it since building for yourself you never have to worry about an upset customer, you just rebuild. Thanks in advance. Edit: It's for a blend of all types of music, and the mids and highs are t…

Sorry for being a thread whore tonight guys but I got a chance to really sit down on my laptop and do stuff and not work through my phone. ANYWAY Question: Can there be a certain tuning for a sealed box depending on size? IE: If you have a 1^3ft box sealed, and a 2^3ft box sealed, would the frequency response be the same with both boxes with the same driver? I've always wondered if there was a way to get a sealed box to produce lower frequencies with a good amount of output without having to port. Pretty much every sealed box I've heard peaks around 45-60hz and doesn't hit lows (35hz and lower) well at all. I didn't know if there was some kind of formula or concept that …

i will be running 4 skar 10's, the box will be in an extended cab dodge dakota, the rough dimensions of the box will be 48" wide, 26" tall, and 15" deep, subs will be on top. now i know if the subs were on the front pannel i would double baffle because of the amount of surface area there is on that panel, but if the panel the subs are on is only 48"x15" would i really need a double baffle? i mean of course i will brace is with allthread or wooden dowels, but i dont want to double baffle if i dont need to, mainly becase that would require me buying an additional 4x8 sheet of mdf.

I'm having trouble getting the right mass to tune a PR enclosure I got ~1200 grams when I used a calculator online but 158 grams when I used the mass of the air in the port as my starting point. I feel like i'm missing something. i'm aiming for 8cu @ 26hz with a single 18" and two 18" PR's What do I need to do to get the correct calculation? The reading seems straightforward but I keep getting these two opposing answers. Thanks, -Chris

I have a ski port with a latch/door that folds down into the trunk to allow air to flow through. If its ported through the hatch, and otherwise sealed off from the cabin, would that yield higher spl would it be a waste of time/money? Im not looking for pure spl, I just thought this might let me keep my sq but make it a little louder. My current setup is a regular 2.5 cube box with a bunch of room around the top/side to get around to the back of the box and through the ski port. Here's my idea(s)..... And sorry that it looks like a third grader made these sketches.. its all i could do with ms paint.... side view of trunk shape with ski port door open/folded down loo…
