Yup I finally made a decision and the sub is in the mail!! My sx12 will be arriving soon and I need to build a box. I want to give it about 2.5 cubes after port displacement tuned to 34-35 hz. Building the box is not a problem, I got that part down. I just need help figuring port area/length. So any way you guys could help out would be awesome!! Thanks Tom

Hey all. I've been riding with the ICON sealed for some time and want to put it in a ported box. Really not sure how to make sure the design is correct or even how to work WinISD but below is what I've gathered. I was posting on diymobile and got some help and was suggested a ported box, 2.0ft^3 @ 30hz will give the flattest response. Below is a copy paste from the sticky of "making a correct box design thread" Vehicle : 08 Acura TL Location in the vehicle: Trunk Space available (Length x Width x Height): 23x19x14 (Can be wider and deeper than height) Subwoofer make and model: SSA ICON Subwoofer Size: 12" Number of Subwoofers: 1 Type of Port (Kerfed, Slot, Aero, etc.…

Okay got 4 Old ass but brand new in box, pioneer SVC 150 RMS TW-W33C subs from the local shop, for 100 bones. I figured it'd be a good start for 4 12's to mess around with. Well i built a Box the size of the Explorer XLT's cargo area. So thats 30" Deep, 40" wide, and 16" tall. (exterior demensions). Anyways made a port thats like 3" wide (give or take), and about 5" deep. Well what did I tune this thing to?? I have no theile small parameters, for the subs so it was just a shot in the dark for this project. Its almost as good as my 2 Vipers in 47hz boxes made for DD's. Anways this setup is prolly going soon. I am trying to get jcc's 4 Vega Vega 12's to put back there next.…

me and my friend made a ported box tuned to 28 hz ... we followed the volume according to the specifications of the subwoofers (2 12" pioneer premier ts-w3002d4) ... we made 2 separate 1.4 cu ft boxes ... the output is not what we thought it would be ... we want it to be louder and maintain sound quality ... what size cu ft box should we make to get more output? .... should we combine them into a single box? ... if so how do you do the portwork insde?

in a hatchback, anybody personally experienced a setup where the subs were within 3.5" from the glass producing over 2,000w of power? Is there any danger or am i worrying too much?

I know that the guys in Potsdam at Northern Music & Video did 4 winter shows this year, but I was just wondering if anyone was going to do that again this year, or are they going to try to kind of synchonize them with the other shops in the area that are going to be putting on shows?? I mean I know the guys at NM&V will put on their shows, I am sure that Ultimate Edge will do their shows again next season, I know that peteyglad and myself will be doing shows in conjunction with Happy Ear nest year. Just wondering if anyone was doing the winter shows again.

I recently purchased an A.P. Axis 15 and was suggested to make this box. Box is to be 3.0 cu. ft. net and to use 4 - 4" pvc ports. Because of box dimensions I'm not able to use flare ports so this is gonna be straight 4" pvc. I'm told the beauty of this type of box it the ability to change tuning and also seal up the box using plumbing inside pipe plugs. A ported and sealed box combination. My concerns is port noise. When I brought this up I was told that I would not have that much and that I would certianly not hear it while playing normal music, just on bass tracks. Is this accurate information? I think this box concept is great but if it's so great why isn't …

I have been messing around with WINISD for the past day or so. Trying to model my 12" Zcons and follow what these graphs are telling me. 1. When I enter the parameters using the autofill for some of them my graph peaks at around 100hz even though my box tuning is much lower. Why is this? Can someone help this NEWB to understand what I have done in error. 2. Also if I enter the paramters of the web site it gives me error messages saying they are incorrect. If I let it autofill some of them then it will graph. Any explanantion why this is? Thanks in advance.

i hope this is the right section butt.... Im still a nexb to box building and I want to make a ported box. It will house two sound splinter Rl-p 12s. I still need to find an amp so i dunno the exact wattage ill be giving them, but i want to give them like 600-800 a piece so thatd be 1200-1600 total. I want kind of an LSQ tuning so would 34hz be alright? (thats what the site suggests) If not then just tell me what you guys would think the best LSQ tuning would be. Then how do I figure out the dims of the slot port once i kno what hz i want??

I have my 3/4 thick mdf cut. Took me about 3 hours just to cut it. The only thing im confused about is putting 2 pieces of wood together. Would i have to apply wood glue to the 2 pieces, attach them together, and wait till it dries, then predrill, then screw? Im really confused. This is my first box. I dont want the edges to crack.

This is a box I am building for a friend. For an 8" Kicker L5, There is very minimal space in his Jeep TJ, so the height is pretty much no give for the size of the sub, even though it is an 8". This is the first box I have ever built before, so I know it may seem a bit rough in some parts, but I am working on it to make it look good for my buddy. If you guys have any comments about it to make it better, please let me know! after all i am only a beginner! Just made a new box for my 21" dp (the amp I will be running is a sundown 3500, I have (2) 1750 strapped right now about 3000 watts) in a 2000 Ford Taurus. (8.3 cu ft/32hertz) The sub is facing up, with a top on it to direct wave more in the car and stop trunk rattle. The port is firing in the car. (I guess its sort of a 4th order/ported box combo) During the build I wanted to make sure since the port would be firing in the car and the sub facing up with a top on it, to completely seal the front wave from the rear trunk. After the installation, it was loud but noticeably louder with the trunk open. Ok I must have missed sealing something..... I noticed I missed a few spot…

I've got a 91' honda prelude, and I'm going to try and use as much of the trunk as possible for a pair of 12's, rather Fi BLs or Fi Qs. I'm thinking of firing the woofers up at the trunk lid or against the back of the trunk, and having the port vent through the trunk opening into the cabin of the car. I've heard how horrible sealed boxes sound if pointed through the trunk into the cabin, I'm just curious if the port would create such a horrible effect. I'm building the box to pretty much use all of the little space I have, so there is nowhere else for the port to be free of obstruction. What do you guys think?

Hi.. this is my first build so i have little experience right now. Im getting 1 ICON 12 with either an AQ1200 or an AP1500 amp. I drive a 2000 jetta, the trunk is about 40 inches wide. I am not really sure what type of enclosure i need, the specifications for it, or where to get one so any help would be nice.
