Hey all. I've been riding with the ICON sealed for some time and want to put it in a ported box. Really not sure how to make sure the design is correct or even how to work WinISD but below is what I've gathered. I was posting on diymobile and got some help and was suggested a ported box, 2.0ft^3 @ 30hz will give the flattest response. Below is a copy paste from the sticky of "making a correct box design thread" Vehicle : 08 Acura TL Location in the vehicle: Trunk Space available (Length x Width x Height): 23x19x14 (Can be wider and deeper than height) Subwoofer make and model: SSA ICON Subwoofer Size: 12" Number of Subwoofers: 1 Type of Port (Kerfed, Slot, Aero, etc.…

Just made a new box for my 21" dp (the amp I will be running is a sundown 3500, I have (2) 1750 strapped right now about 3000 watts) in a 2000 Ford Taurus. (8.3 cu ft/32hertz) The sub is facing up, with a top on it to direct wave more in the car and stop trunk rattle. The port is firing in the car. (I guess its sort of a 4th order/ported box combo) During the build I wanted to make sure since the port would be firing in the car and the sub facing up with a top on it, to completely seal the front wave from the rear trunk. After the installation, it was loud but noticeably louder with the trunk open. Ok I must have missed sealing something..... I noticed I missed a few spot…

Please contact Josh at http://www.facebook.com/#!/josh.w.hart or http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/449888281732464/ and PLEASE tell him I sent you! He is truely a great guy to deal with. I was sent to him from Duran. He responds very fast, and is easy to deal with. He has just finished up my design for my 18" SSA Evil and really went above and beyond my expectiations. This is not just any ordinary designer who build an enclosure around your limited space. He actually aims for your goals and utilizes your intended goals into every aspect of the enclosure. When you message him, I would suggest to include any additional information that you may think that could help the desi…

Just to start off, I'm building this for the heck of it and recently picked up an inexpensive Memphis audio 15-ms84 to build a box around. This box might be placed in a car just to see what it will do but will stay mostly in the office. The pictures should give you an idea what I'm trying to do, and should show most of the specs of the box. Basically using an 8.25" x 1" slot port that is 23" in length with a tuning around 38 hz. The box volume is .59 f^3. The response curve seemed to have an nice flat-ish shape that hopefully will make it sound 'full' to the Fs. If I'm doing something completely wrong, please let me know - Gently please. Thanks John

I came up with this design for my subs, but I am having trouble figuring out what size the enclosure will be since it's an odd shape. Just wondering how much space each sub will have with these dimensions.

Attempting to fit two 18" drivers (fi bl) in 34" width. Each driver would be mounted to an angled piece of double baffle mdf. I made a simple rendering to give a visual: Width is 34", each angled piece would be 20"x20" and angled at 45degree angle. The distance from edge of box to where the angled pieces meet would be approx 10". enclosure will be ported, most likely with aero ports for the sake of being easy. Has anyone had any experience with a enclosure like this? output wise vs conventional ported enclosures? Does the fact of the drivers being angled towards each other cause any problems, cancellation, etc. any other input? thank you

Tought to explain, but here it goes. I plan on using an 18" sub in my car. Due to size restraints it will be firing up into the lid of the trunk. Now, has anyone tried to make a baffle to go on top of the sub? The baffle would be touching the box at the back of the trunk and be touching the very top of the trunk at the front of the trunk. The baffle would span the entire length of the trunk. The sub would then fire into the baffle and create compression loading like in a hatchback. Damn, that is tough to understand. If anyone knows what I am talking about and has a better explanation than please feel free to elaborate. I just drew it up quick. I am just wondering if the …

I'm working on a home theater sub. It'll be an aa avalanche 18 in an 21 cu ft llt tuned to 15 hz. I'm trying to figure out how to cut the complicated bracing in this box design. So I was thinking if I got someone to CNC the bracing I can cut the rest of the boards and will have a much easier build. Any suggestions are appreciated. Here is a link. And some pics of the design. I have the google sketchup file, and was wondering if it would be able to make templates of each piece and print them on a plotter. Then I'd cut them to size with a table saw and cut them out with a jig saw. Link to build post

Bass race death match was awesome to, I'll get the video later. Anyway, I built for this thing and I won, it ended up with a 146.1 for a 5min average. It could have been higher but there was no need to turn it up (as you'll see i started at a 148 and backed it down) This was taken this past weekend in Augusta, GA at one of the db drag events. Car off, 5minutes, four loudest street cars at once! I started high, and then turned it down just above the guy next to me. The guy with crx got a late start, so he only did a 138(burps a 151), the guy in the red truck had 2 L510's and a Orion 1200D and held a 138 for the 5min. Not bad! It was a looong five minutes sitting inside …

Okay got 4 Old ass but brand new in box, pioneer SVC 150 RMS TW-W33C subs from the local shop, for 100 bones. I figured it'd be a good start for 4 12's to mess around with. Well i built a Box the size of the Explorer XLT's cargo area. So thats 30" Deep, 40" wide, and 16" tall. (exterior demensions). Anyways made a port thats like 3" wide (give or take), and about 5" deep. Well what did I tune this thing to?? I have no theile small parameters, for the subs so it was just a shot in the dark for this project. Its almost as good as my 2 Vipers in 47hz boxes made for DD's. Anways this setup is prolly going soon. I am trying to get jcc's 4 Vega Vega 12's to put back there next.…

There used to be a few threads about things people were doing for SQ competition and some of the things each organization makes you have for max points in each category. I have a few questions about some of those things. I will be building based off of Usaci rules mainly because besides SBN (which offers Iasca as well) they have the most SQ comps in logical distances from me. My first question is about Processors, crossovers and EQ's. Do I need any of those three for max points or if I buy a HU that has all of those things built in will that count? If need be I will buy a cheaper HU and add something like the PPI-DCX730 as opposed to something like the Pioneer 880 or the…

I have been messing around with WINISD for the past day or so. Trying to model my 12" Zcons and follow what these graphs are telling me. 1. When I enter the parameters using the autofill for some of them my graph peaks at around 100hz even though my box tuning is much lower. Why is this? Can someone help this NEWB to understand what I have done in error. 2. Also if I enter the paramters of the web site it gives me error messages saying they are incorrect. If I let it autofill some of them then it will graph. Any explanantion why this is? Thanks in advance.

Subs:2, Sundown Audio E-12 v1, 400rms Amp: Hifonics 1700.1 wired to 1 ohm (so 850rms per sub) Box. Custom mustang vert box, .9 cubes per sub sealed. Right now the E-12s are reversed mounted to get the most usable airspace. Is there a subwoofer that would better handle the power such as the soundqubed HDS 200 or 300. Also, should I stuff the box with polyfill or something? I can't turn my volume up to even half on some songs before the subs start to distort or bottom out. So what can I do to improve my setup?

Sorry for being a thread whore tonight guys but I got a chance to really sit down on my laptop and do stuff and not work through my phone. ANYWAY Question: Can there be a certain tuning for a sealed box depending on size? IE: If you have a 1^3ft box sealed, and a 2^3ft box sealed, would the frequency response be the same with both boxes with the same driver? I've always wondered if there was a way to get a sealed box to produce lower frequencies with a good amount of output without having to port. Pretty much every sealed box I've heard peaks around 45-60hz and doesn't hit lows (35hz and lower) well at all. I didn't know if there was some kind of formula or concept that …
