Ok basically I had an ok box, performed well'ish, ported 2.4ft3 60sq" port @ 33hz, then I made an adaptor to sit over the front and channel the ported box into the cabin via the skii port. This worked a treat and made it much cleaner sounding and changed my tuning down to 27hz. Now, I have a new box finished I payed some $$ for and its 2.8ft3 tuned to 32hz with 50" inch of port, the concern is pretty much straight away below 32hz the sub seems to sort of get stuck in and doesnt excurt properly and have stuff all output also, what is this and what can cause it?? I know it could be a lack of backpressure in the box but the new box I thought was a much better design than m…

I'm planning on securing my sub box to my trunk using L brackets. I'm also putting in a plywood floor so I can mount amps/batteries/etc to it also. But my question is that, when using the L brackets on the box, do I just bolt straight through the side of the box? And if I ever move the box to another vehicle or change the arrangement, it will have a handful of holes in the side? Just seems odd. Is this the right was to do it though?

Why do you compete? Since I opened, I will let you all know why I compete. I compete to have fun and to represent. One of the main reasons why I compete is because of the gear I run. Back when i started, it was about fun and there were plenty of Orion competitors, now there is a few of us, and I doubt that none are as serious as I with the Orion equipment. That would be the main reason, to bring back the Orion name to the competition arena, make them the proud people they used to be. Many of you might not remember Orion back in the days when Wayne Harris used to work for them, or when you could see atleast 40 cars at finals with their equipment. Not only am I bringi…

  7. aight. i have 3 12" california profiles. i have 3 custom 1/2 mdf wood boxes. there in a ranger single cab. i have 2 behind the seats and one where the center floor console/ cup holders were. i dont have the exact specs but there .40-.50 cu. ft. of airspace for each. the subs need 1.25 cu. ft. of airspace, but there just temporary till i get sum new ones. well my question is..they really dont have any excursion at all. they really bump but dont really move. i figured its cuz of the super small boxes. and probally cuz i didn't put any poly fill in em.or maybe cuz there low rated subs, they have like 50 rms and 350 watts peak but if i get sum 12" kicker cvr's or even some sh…

Hey guys, I have my second Xcon and needing new enclosure but have been debating staying ported or going back to sealed (save cargo space) Anyway, I am first time user of Winisd and not sure if I did this correct so could someone let me know if it looks ok? How do you interpret this graph? To me it looks like ported is the way to go. (I modeled using two 15" Xcons at 1000rms each) Let me know if you need any additional info about my setup...believe my SUV cabin gain peaks @ 49 Hz.

i will be purchasing either an IA DP 15D1 or an IA judge 15D1 and i would like to know a box recommendation for it and what tune would be good since there are no specs on here and their website. the other question is i want to fill the whole trunk with the box amp and second battery/ultracap i notice i will have a very tiny gap with the port facing the back(the trunk lid not the inside) for the ports to push air so i was going to do port and sub face up, just curious to know how much db i will lose from doing that instead of port back sub back or sub up

  13. so in a month or 2 i will be starting on my rebuild to run 2 old style XXX15's, 2 sundown saz-1500d's and other goodies i haven't decided yet(sound deading, comps and such). well, what my plan is on running these is to seal my trunk off from the cabin. for the box i want to forward fire it along with the port. from where i see it the baffle will sit 2-3 inches from the rear seat opening. the trunk space i have available is 40" wide, 17" tall, and about 29" deep. though for the size enclosure I'm going for about 6cu before displacement. i believe i have about 8-9cu before displacement total. here is a quick sketch i drew up on a graph paper. each cube length stands for 1" …

I sm trying to get my trunk ready for everything but before I start deadening I need to decide what to do with my spare tire well. I know I cant leave everything in there cuz it will vibrate like a mother. But if I take everything out there is just a big hole so what can I do to cover this that won't cause any noise?

  16. So I couldn't sleep last night and decided to start designing the box I want to build for my 4 SA-10s that im getting in next week. Thought I'd post up the pics.... Also, After discussing yesterday with a few of you and trying to decide how to do port area and everything with some aero ports, I decided on the (4) 4" aero ports.. But then after I designed it and everything I realized that the tuning you guys said was about 39hz.... and Sundown recommends 30-35hz for these subs.. 39hz was like the only tuning we could get to work in order to get enough port area for my setup.. So I wanted to make sure before I buy everything and build this,.. Are the subs going to do/sound …

ok a couple of months ago i had woodlawn cabinetry build an ensclure for the subs that i thought i was going to use. well like a couple of weeks ago it arrived. and i really like it but the subs i had told him i was going to use i no longer want to use. so i figured that if the subs that i wind up using have a smaller displacement then the ones i was going to use then the port would be tuned a little lower and vise versa for bigger. now am i wrong and the ensclure is a 4.5 c^3 tuned to 33hz after displacement, common chambered for 2 12" ICONS. i want to use either 2 eclipse sw7200 or 2 12" aa aresanals powered by a sae1000d if u want to know.

Like the title says, im building a new speakerbag. The fun of causing mischief at the mall and walmart n stuff has disappeared, I want this one for something easily movable, for bragging rights, but mostly as my room system. The backpack aspect makes it more fun =) I am purchasing 12 bazooka OEM 5" subwoofer/midbass drivers, and three 20wrms x2ch Class T amps. I have my two previous batteries (12v Motorcyle battery, 12.5v modem battery) to power the amps, they run on 12v. I have four 5.25" mid/highs speakers already, and will add foam baffles to finish those off If i can work them in. I'm thinking (8) 5's isobaric, sealed, w/ polyfill, in .5cuft. I'm not really looking f…

Well chaps I'm not 100% happpy with the SPL of my box, its 16.5cuft before displacement, and tuned onto 30hz, port area is 8.3in^2 per cuft, now recommended space for the subs is 6.5 per driver, and I presume port area should be 10^2inches per cuft, so should I line the entire inside of the box with an extra skin of MDF(flex is another issue except on the front baffle) this will reduce area, and also should I change the port for a larger one on the same tuning?? Any advice greatly appreciated lads

I have yet to personally use an RTA for my own personal use so let's see if I get this right- I want to use Pink noise because that is generated to play how our ears perceive sound. When analyzing what pink noise looks like on a computer, it appears from 20hz-20khz, for every octave from 20hz, the amplitude drops 3db. So, at 20khz, it's very low compared to 20hz but our ears must be very sensitive there(if you can hear it) to perceive a flat response. So, when i go to RTA my front stage, is my goal to also (if it were perfectly possible) to achieve a full range reading exactly how pink noise is generated? 3db drop for every octave up? In the end, I would assu…
