I have been searching around now for a good 30 minutes on how to figure out the bass in a song. I know you use some program and play the song through it. You then select a little bit of the audio stream and analyze it somehow and it will show how low the bass gets... (I am trying to figure out the bass line in song. When it drops to the second lowest, I have never heard my car rattle so much nor my woofer get so loud. The first bass "hit" is at 34.5 seconds. And the bass hit at 37.5 seconds I need to filter out. I see the speaker move for it but cant hear anything)

I moving up from an old 200 rms orion 12" sub to 2-fi ssd's with 1600 watts to them ( or what ever my Soundstream will really put down. lol ) Now looking at the follow 2 box designs from here, ( which is super sweet that you guys posted these! ) Box 1. 12" xcon ported Box 2. 12" icon ported Outside of what appears to be an extra dolly of vertical bracing and total port area are the pretty much the same. Of course the overall dimensions are a bit different, but they have the same internal volume and tuning frequency. So which box is better? More port area make a difference when tuning is the same? Any in-site is much appreciated. Got the email today that the subs shippe…

So i have been reading on how to calculate the tuning on a box with a kerf. What is a common kerf radius? and how to you cut the wood to become that radius? google isnt really helping me out here. i know there is some extremely good carpenters here that might be able to help me out. how deep do i cute to wood to cause a certain radius. i would like all the input you guys have on kerfing to help me figure it out completely. Im having a hell of a time fitting a box into my s10, along time ago i bought a pre fabbed sealed enclosure for 2 12's, downfire design.. fits nicely behind the seats.. well the box is crap and im ready to go ported, i have 2 Re SR12's i built a box for and it was garbage as well.. has anyone built a box for these trucks? mine is a 1998. Im thinking about just going with 1 12" to get an optimal box size. More than likely a Fi BL or Q 12". havent decided yet.. so again if anyone has built for this vehicle or can show me some pictures of what other people do i would appreciate it. Also Im a bigger guy so the seat needs to be as far back as possible (no tilt wheel).

I want to design a ported enclosure with one DD9512g to put in my single cab chevy 1500. I want it to be loud, but also as musical as possible. I have about 3.3 cuft to work with. The enclosure is going to be a center console enclosure. If I find the frequency which my vehicle peaks at, will this help me choose my tuning frequency of my enclosure?

So I drive a f150 ext cab with a kicker cvx 15" with a 6 cube box tuned at 32hz. Right now it is powered by this POS sony 1200 2 channel. The first time I metered I did a 139.5 door open. I metered yesterday and the best I could do is a 137.2 The testing was done on a term lab. Now the things that changed: 4 ft shorter power wire than before - better bigger ground - better new rcas - better new bigger remote - I know this wont change anything just thought I'll throw it out there The only difference than before would be the temperature. It is roughly 35-45 degrees hotter outside now. Can the ambient temperature effect db?? Also my buddy metered too and he had a decrea…

Since I have a Ford Taurus my trunck was totally sealed and no bass would come through and had to port my seat and my deck lid and am trying to locate some speaker cloth that will let the bass to travel through without affecting airflow. Do they make this. I did try the metal mesh grill like I saw in an Overhualing tv show but found it affected bass intensity and sound quality. I am a musician and know my bassists amp has a plastic type mesh (grill) that suppesedly doesn't affect sound quality. Just wondering if anyone out there uses anything specific?

I am new hear but installed my first system in 92. I use to have a hatchback and always used sealed boxes. I always used a slightly slanted boxes firing up at about 75 degrees and about 5 inches from the back wall (t5 inches is all the space I had left). Always had clean and awsome bass but I've recently installed a couple of 12's in a flat box firing directly at the back at 90 degrees to the rear with less success. My question is, Is it better to have a slanted box for rear firing and what is the best distance from the rear cause my trunk is huge and am currently about 10 inches from the back. Thanks for your support …

** Coles notes: 12" BTL (D2, loaded, Daily). Maximum Dimensions: 31" x 16" x 18". Want to hit the lows better. ** What is required to build a box specifically for lows. Larger box? More/less port area?.........etc. I had a BL last year, and have "upgraded" to a BTL this year. I have two boxes that were used with the BL, one built by Thumper and another I did myself. The PTS box is tuned to 32, I think mine might be tuned lower, not really sure. Used subwoofertools.com back in the day, and it told me it was 32Hz after displacement. It's 27" x 16" x 18" with port 14.5" x 2.5" x ~33". 3/4 MDF. When I put those dimension in RE Calculator it comes up with 29.81Hz (before dis…

I hear that areo ports "trick" the box into thinking that it actually has more port area than it actually has. Is there some type of calculation so I can figure out the effective port area of an Aero Port? Thanks

ok i have a 2002 dodge dakota extended cab, and i was thinking of putting 4 SA-8's in the back area after taking out the back seat. i will get the D4 coil configuration and run 2 off a dsc1000.1 and the other 2 off another dsc1000.1 (each sub will get 500watts) now i have no clue how to design a box, the only other ported box i made someone else designed for me and i built it. i dunno max dimensions of the box but if you tell me how many cubes it has to be i can figure out how to make that size box fit where it needs to, also for the "easy" factor id like to use aero ports instead of a slot port design, so what size and lengh aeros would i need? and where can i buy thos…

So, Ive been roaming around this forum to find some ideas on some box ideas for my 2 18" Fi Qs going in a 2000 Chevy Blazer. I listen to mostly rap that go into the low 30hz range and higher so yess this is my daily driver, so Ive designed some boxes of my own to see what you guys think about them. Hereeeee we go... Box Design 1: Separate chambers, 7.25 cu. ft. each after displacements @ 28hz - Subs forward, port forward Box Design 2: Separate chambers, 6.75 cu. ft. each after displacements @ 32hz (I knowww its kinda wicked design but oh well..) - Subs back, port forward Let me know what you guys think!! Thanks for looking :)

i am about to attempt to build my first box for my two db drive platinum 12s and a few friends have been telling me that a down fire box would be the way to go I am wondering if it really makes any difference in the bass level or spl I also planning on porting the box but I'm not sure where the best location for the port would be I'm new to all this when it comes to fabricating an enclosure. Its going to be about a 4 cubic foot box in an extended cab s10 with the port tuned to around 32-35 hertz. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi All, Now at my job i search McMaster-Carr very frequently. and today i decided "hey lets see what they have for sound stuff" (cause they have EVERYTHING! lol) so i did a quick search for "Sound" and found they have some nice sound barrier material and some nice sound dampening stuff, looks just like the Sound Deadener Showdown Stuff just thicker and with a backing ( http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi ) any ways i was just wondering if the stuff on mcmaster-carr is good sound barrier or good sound dampening?
