Got a new car and want to run the single biggest FI BTL NEO I can fit. I have measured my trunk and I have 32x32x18 to work with, the car is a 2012 chevy cruze LTZ. My question is, about how big of a box I can use. I'm thinking I could possibly fit 1 15" at 4-5 cubes but I'm no box builder. I would love to run 1 18" inch but the btl requires 6-8 cubic foot so I doubt it would fit.

Just curious on how much a shop should charge for a box if i supplied them with cut sheet and just had them supply and cut the wood? I enjoy the box building process but don't have the time, skill or equipment to do nice straight cuts. I should be able to design assemble and finish. What do you think? Around $100? Ill talk to my local shop this week but wanted to get yalls opinion.

I'm going to attempt fiberglassing for the first time. I'm going to make some kick pods for 6.5" Midbass and Softdome Tweets. I've read just about every forum and "How To" I can find so I'm pretty sure I know what I'm in for, but the one thing I haven't been able to find is how much chopped mat do I need to buy. I'm going to order from US Composites and they have 3/4, 1 1/5 and 2 oz chopped mat. Which size is most commonly used and how many yards would be adequate? I'm sure I'll need some extra just incase I do some beginners f*ck ups Thanks, Bob.

I'm well aware of the complexity (or so it might seem for some) involved in creating a ported enclosure built to specs. I'm also aware of situations where different subs have been dropped right in to a ported box previously housing another sub and working well. With that being the case I was wondering how bad a prefab box like this one I stumbled across on ebay could possibly be. I'm absolutely prepaired to pay for a properly made custom box but was just curious a) if anyones had any experience and b) if this is just a COMPLETELY bad idea. Heres the link to a prefab 4 cu ft ported box tuned to 32 hz (almost exactly what I'd be getting custom made): 15" CUSTOM-PORTED MDF S…

Hey guys, I have been modeling different alignments for my Dayton RSS265-4 HO woofers. I like the look of 1.2-1.4 cu.ft after displacement for both of the tens, tuned around 30 hz. My question to you guys is how much port area I should shoot for? Would two 3" aeros be adequate? According to the modeling program, I would exceed 25m/s vent velocity using 2 3" aeros, but not by much. This install isn't meant to shatter spl records and each woofer will probably never see more than 300 watts, so taking this into account I don't really think I need such large port area. Looking for suggestions, Thanks

Hello , I am building a box with a round port. I'll try to flare the openings to have a nice flare port It will be a 6" port or an 8", I don't know yet ! How far from the box side can I have the port ? How much "room" does it need to play correctly, safely ? I know I can use an elbow, and I will if it's necessary. Thanks in advance for your advices.

Im tired of my setup so i sold my 4 15's but now im stuck with the box..so im really looking for some advice on how much should i sell my box for.. Specs: 4 15's, 15ft^3 tuned to 35hz via a 45"x4.5" port. The overall dimensions are 48" wide x 25" tall x 34" deep. The entire thing is double layered, except for the bottom..its bare mdf on the outside but the whole inside is coated in fiberglass resin.. http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd509/Elrey7698/de7c216c.jpg http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd509/Elrey7698/fe895540.jpg http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd509/Elrey7698/abd78364.jpg

In this episode of "Car Audio Fabrication" I share the proper way to utilize T-Nuts in an install. The advantages of T Nuts are as follows: Screws can be removed several times if you need to access the inside of the enclosure with no worry of srtipping or degrading the thread quality (like what would occur with wood screws into wood)More secure mounting, they cannot be pulled loose from the mounting surface as occurs with wood screws.Other notes: Adding a dab of super glue before securing the t nut to the wood can prevent them from falling into the enclosure before installing. Using a size down from the shank of the t nut for your drill hole allows for a tighter squ…

In my last design in my hatchback, i had 2 12s off of 4,400w of power and a local team in my area was bracing the outside of my car and let me know that they could feel air seeping through the seal of my sunroof. Also, the sunroof was flexing pretty good which isn't good either for SPL. I am currently building a wall so it will REALLY flex now with lots and lots of air seepage... So, hehe, what do i do? The only thing i could think of is stick as many towels or shirts in between the glass and sliding door as possible but this is a temporary solution only in the lanes. For longterm bracing, what should i do?

So like it says how do you figure out the right measurments for 2 or more round or square port? and im asking because im thinking of doing a dual L port design for a 12" BTL. box will be tuned to 34 hz and will be 2.5 cu ft after displacement. so how do you figure out length and port area for each port? also if you know how ot do the circle ports it would be nice to know that as well. because i might end up going the aero port route.

There are 2 drivers in each side wall that would acoustically, i assume, act as port length. So, if that's true, does leaving just the opening in the back act as length of the side walls which is ~25" long? also, i've never had the time to question these types of designs but does anyone have anything negative to say about drivers in the side wall like that? I've seen pretty much all different kinds of setups throughout the years and this particular one is not new either. I just don't understand what actually is going on when the front wave of these side wall drivers interacts with the port(2nd question).

snoopdan uses pink panther insulation to seal around his box so it acts like a wall in his cherokee. I just got done building my box in my scion tc with 4 15s and i need to seal around it so it can act like a wall. I was gonna use pink panther but have 2nd thoughts because it states that it's purely a thermal barrier, not acoustic barrier. Is there any methods u guys use or can persuade me with facts as to continue to go with pink panther insulation or is there a better method?

Pardon the dust, under construction Hey guys! Have you ever seen panels in installs like this and wondered how in the world did they get those shapes? (Shown on right). Take your installs to the next level with these shaped panels that you can use for hiding amps and crossovers, trimming around speakers, making amazing port shapes, the possibilities are endless! Let's get down to the nitty gritty: What you Need: Safety First! Make sure…

I have been searching around now for a good 30 minutes on how to figure out the bass in a song. I know you use some program and play the song through it. You then select a little bit of the audio stream and analyze it somehow and it will show how low the bass gets... (I am trying to figure out the bass line in song. When it drops to the second lowest, I have never heard my car rattle so much nor my woofer get so loud. The first bass "hit" is at 34.5 seconds. And the bass hit at 37.5 seconds I need to filter out. I see the speaker move for it but cant hear anything)
