http://www.springshowdown.com/main07.html How many of you fools will be at the show? There are no shows in this area, so i'm glad that MECA is finally in this area. With that being said, all of the haters out there(you know who you are), don't start any negative comments

So I come today bearing questions... I have two ideas for a system and really am at a standstill and could use some advice. Both ideas will be forward firing with the truck sealed off from the front. My first idea is two 12's in a sealed box. Due to the fact that the max height in the trunk is 12.5in, I would have to tilt the sub back to make it fit, and for the sake of visuals, tilting them inward at the same time. I would prefer this setup, but due to limited resources, I'm not sure if I could cut any mdf with the angled edges required to achieve this. So this leads to my second idea... If I ran two 10in subs, I could run them straight up and down, and I could port them…

Currently running my 12" ICON in a 1.35 cu ft sealed enclosure. The car is a hatchback. While the sub itself sounds clean and puts out decent volume, I'm often wishing it hit the lower notes a bit better and was louder. Is anyone able to help me design a ported enclosure for this sub? I'm trying to keep the footprint of the enclosure as small as possible, but I understand it'll take more space than the sealed setup currently. This is the current setup: Untitled by riored4v, on Flickr Regarding the height, i can't really go much taller since this still allows me to use my hatch cover to keep everything out of eye sight. Its at 13.5" tall. Any help would be ap…

Well chaps I'm not 100% happpy with the SPL of my box, its 16.5cuft before displacement, and tuned onto 30hz, port area is 8.3in^2 per cuft, now recommended space for the subs is 6.5 per driver, and I presume port area should be 10^2inches per cuft, so should I line the entire inside of the box with an extra skin of MDF(flex is another issue except on the front baffle) this will reduce area, and also should I change the port for a larger one on the same tuning?? Any advice greatly appreciated lads

I sm trying to get my trunk ready for everything but before I start deadening I need to decide what to do with my spare tire well. I know I cant leave everything in there cuz it will vibrate like a mother. But if I take everything out there is just a big hole so what can I do to cover this that won't cause any noise?

Unfortunately due to some extenuating circumstances this year's event has been POSTPONED!!!!!! The Clayton Chamber of Commerce has postponed this year's Clayton Classic Car Show. Since the show is put on in conjunction with the Classic Car Show, we have to postpone the Clayton Car Stereo Show. We will be in close talks with the Clayton Chamber of Commerce and see when they will decide on a new date for the Classic Car Show, when we get a new date for the show I let everyone know and we will try to have it then.

I have yet to personally use an RTA for my own personal use so let's see if I get this right- I want to use Pink noise because that is generated to play how our ears perceive sound. When analyzing what pink noise looks like on a computer, it appears from 20hz-20khz, for every octave from 20hz, the amplitude drops 3db. So, at 20khz, it's very low compared to 20hz but our ears must be very sensitive there(if you can hear it) to perceive a flat response. So, when i go to RTA my front stage, is my goal to also (if it were perfectly possible) to achieve a full range reading exactly how pink noise is generated? 3db drop for every octave up? In the end, I would assu…

This is going to sound awfully newbish, because...well it is. I see all over this forum and various others about what to tune a ported box to. Well it dawned on me a while back, what does it mean if you tune a box to, ah lets say 32 hz? Does that mean that the subwoofer can only play notes above this frequency, or what? Also what particular specification(s) point you in the right direction on what to tune the enclosure to (besides the obvious manufacturer's recommended boxes, as I see a lot of people that don't necessarily stick to what the company provides.) Please go easy on me, as I am really clueless when it comes to ported enclosures (as I personally like sealed …

This is my first go at trying to design a ported box so just want to make sure I got the numbers right. This is for a coworker. The sub is a DD 9515. According to their site it should be 3 cu with 48"^2 of port. Here's what I came up with: 24" x 22" x 15" and the port 3 9/16" x 13 1/2". If I follow the "rules" and make it 20" long it'll be 38ish tune. I appreciate any input you can give. 15" height is to keep it under the window line and cannot be modified. Other than that any suggestions welcome!

I made up a few pages for port tuning, that account for port displacement, as I haven't seen anything online that offered it. Slot Port: http://portsgalore.stefanhinote.com/?do=portlength Aero Ports: http://portsgalore.stefanhinote.com/?do=portaerolength It uses the port length equation from the loudspeaker cookbook. Input: volume, port dimensions, tuning. It figures out the port length, and port volume (port length * port area). Subtracts port volume from original volume = net volume. With the found port length and net volume, it figures out the real tuning. From there it has something to start with, and starts adjusting the original tuning frequency until the net tuning…

i will have 2 or 3 amps in my truck to power my speakers. I want to remove them from under the rear seat and build some type of mounting device for them. i have an 8 cubic foot box for my SP4 - could i mount the amps on the side of this box or on some wood attached to this box OR would the vibrations be less than ideal for my amps?

Hey Guys, i'm sorta new to the forum so do bash me too hard I am designing an enclosure for a 21" Death Penalty. This is my 4th variation: 8.533^ft, Tuned to 33hz, Kerfed port opening, Double baffle, 1 1/2 Port bracing, 1" Dowel bracing, 121^in of Port. This is going in a 1996 Blazer, Port faced towards the hatch. I want it to as good as it can at being "musical", do you think it will sould all around good with this enclosure? Give me your opinions, thanks.

I was told by a former "audio guy" that althought 3/4 MDF is used in car audio enclousers, 3/4 partical board could be used to reduce the weight of the encloser. How tru is this?

My 12" ICON is coming in the mail today so I want to finalize a design before before having my buddy build it for me. What I want to know is if I have calculated everything correctly and will in fact end up with 2.3ft^3 at 32.5hz. Here's how I measured the port length. 19.2140 + 14.8723 + 1.375 = 35.312 The the12volt calculator says that this length gives me about 32.5hz. Did I design this correctly? Also, I just used the displacement listed on the product page which is .16. Does doing a double baffle affect this? Click here if you want to download my SketchUp design
