First post, Please bare with me. I did a search but didn't find what I was looking for. 2005 Ram 1500 Quad Cab My truck is all set-up with highs, deck, EQ, Kicker ZX.1000 amp (~1150W @ 2ohms). Looking to run a 12" BL Dual 1Ohm. I listen to mostly rap and hard rock, looking for a good box for the daily driver, I'd say mostly rap, real deep lows but I'd still like to hear the kick drums. I've never built a custom box before; I'm looking at 2.0 ft3 slot ported box @ 32hz. Will this limit the sub from reaching its full potential? The amp puts out real good clean power, I'd like the best possible box for my truck. Are there any pre-built boxes that will work well with …

I know this question has been posted before all over, but many of the discussions just turn into b***hfests, and no straight good answer is given. Would stuffing (polyfill etc...), or lining (vibration damper, mlv, etc...) a properly sized and well built box make any difference on the sound quality/characteristics of the subwoofer it contains? I'm looking for one good answer please, not a million random opinions. My head is just in a daze after looking at how many odd forum posts that don't answer the question I'm posing. Thanks to anyone who has good knowledge on this topic!

I need helping figuring out how to go about getting 6.5s in the doors of my 86 GMC Sonoma. As some of you might know that S Series trucks (S15s and S10s) around that year didn't come with door speakers from the factory, only dash and back panels. I never fiberglassed before so if possible i would like to stay away from that.. but if i must i will take on the challenge, if i could get away with just putting a sheet of MDF on the door and cut holes for my 6.5s that would be great.. but i don't think there is enough space between the door and where the MDF would sit because there was no speaker in before hand so GMC didn't give it the room for speakers so somehow i have to m…

I just finished my box for my fi btl and now I'm looking for something to cover it but not sure what yet. I've looked at CF and Carpet together (having the entire box black carpet with the fi bomb sticker as a cutout with CF over top) and thought about bed liner but I've never tired either and I'm not sue what would be the best look and if there are any more ideas out there throw them at me in open to anything.

I'm designing a box with the help of the torres box calc and sketchup and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or if this looks right. I believe I included all necessary dimensions, but if I forgot any let me know. The subs will be mounted on double baffle up top, with rear facing port. Any help/suggestions/comments are appreciated!

my subs are going to be upfiring (towards roof), would it sound best to have the port facing the rear of car? or facing roof (same direction as subs)? Or does it even matter? This is going in a 2door jeep wrangler. Thanks

I don't want to upset anyone by saying I'm looking for an SQ setup if I'm actually looking for SPL, so I'm hoping someone can steer me in the right direction. I don't like mainstream rap music, and I don't ever plan on getting my setup metered or compete, so big dB numbers arent a concern. I listen to mostly underground hip hop and a little bit of rock, like 80s metallica/slayer, so hardly any of the songs I listen to dip into the really low frequency range. I'm running 2 audiobahns in a sealed box at about 2.7cf, and because of their design, they are incredibly cramped in my enclosure (go into WinISD and look up the Audiobahn AW1251 and let it select the optimum sealed b…

The title says it all. How much space should I have between my port and rear wall? My port will have a 9,5" x 20.5" surface area, the enclosure is 20 cu.ft., I will be using two Fi Q 18" powered by a Hifonics XX Colossus II amplifier that will deliver about 3000W rms. The reason I ask is that I don't have enough room for the tuning I want, so I want to make it as close to the intended tuning as possible. I was thinking that 8" will be enough if I make the end flared and the wall "pointy" to reduce turbulence. Would this be enough? Picture of how I was thinking about making the enclosure:

i have been killin myself trying to figure out a box design for my ranger and have gotten nowhere with it. i got a couple reply's on other forums but nothing set in stone. the sub is a 15"btl and my dem are 50" wide x 16 tall x 16 deep, 5.9cf before sub displacement and port displacement. i need it to have ports on both sides of the sub cause i want the sub in the center of the box (its that way to even out the weight in the truck). i would like it tuned to around 33-34hz.. any help on figuring my port length would be great. please put in laymans terms cause i am not very bright when it comes to this kinda stuff. any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks btw the sub…

Help Please. I want to build a ported box for 4 FI 15" BTL's Currently I have a 9 Cuft box with 2 FI 15" BTL's. Each sub in it's own enclosure. FI suggests 3-5 Cuft per sub. Can I make just one box for all 4 with one port? Or do I make a box that seperates all 4 or two? I like the sound with 4.5 Cuft per sub. I am also lost on the port area if I make one 18 Cuft box for all 4. Really appreciate your suggestions here. Thanks, JR

I have never built a box for a sub before, and now I am going to be building one for a 8" Kicker L7. This is going to be put into a Jeep TJ, so it does NOT have much trunk space at all. I am not too worried about the size of the box, because I can dimension it to the size of the trunk myself. What I am worried about and have no clue is how to make the port inside the box. I need to know how much space I need in the port to get the most air. Although it is an 8", I want it to perform the best it can through the box. I am looking on Kicker's website and these are the dimensions it says: Mounting Depth (IN.,CM) 4-3/4, 12.1 Mounting Cutout, Square (IN.,CM) 7-1/4, 18.4 Min Re…

Hi all, A friend of mine has a 15" xcon DVC1 in a 3.7 cu ft box (32 Hz tuning, flared port)Look at my avatar : it's his box !! He uses 2 Sundown saz 1000 d amps strapped to run the sub. Now, he wants another xcon 15 and 1 more saz 1000 (he just bought mine ). Here is the question : What would you do ? Build another same box for the second xcon, or build a new box for 2 xcons ? He is the box builder, so there is no problem to build boxes. What are the pros and cons of your choices ? Thanks for your help !!! (He has room in the car, no backseats, he knows he has to upgrade the electrical system for more than 4000 watts !)

I am using 14 square inches per cubic foot Does this sound about right with my calculations or am I way off? I have the cut sheets written down but not sure if its needed in this post.
