I was checking out the parameters for the icon and the aa havoc. They're pretty close spec wise. So would using the the pre made box plans work for the havoc? From my calculations its 30-32hz tuning.

I currently have my sub in a poorly designed enclosure accidently tuned to 53hz. Im going to have my dad build me a new one for my birthday. I designed one using the RE calc and came out with a "classic" L port box with the sub and port on same side, tuned to 31.5hz a 4.03 cubes. I want to have the sub facing up and the port back though because i use my trunk frequently and am paranoid about my sub. My question is how would i go about designing this? The total dimensions for the box i designed with sub and port same side are 26" W 21" H 20"D. I also was wondering how this would affect the sound and volume. Thanks alot for the help.

Hey guys I am in meca and I am hitting a 144.9 on music with the car off because I am in AS2. I was told at the lastest show the Vinny if I were to make a so called fart box box size of 3.5 cubic feet with like two 6 in aero ports and tuning at like 50 hertz my current setup is 5 cubic ft after displacment and tuned at 40 htz I beleive. What I am wanting to know will this so called fart box get me any louder and see the bad thing is we don't have anyone with a termlab around me to test it. My set is a up memphis mojo 15d2 and I have a sundown 1200.1 with four guage and soon to be hopefully two runs of 0guage. Any help with this guys would mean alot to me and my dad. Also…

Is the opening of a slot port supposed to be on the face of the enclosure, same direction as the sub is facing? All the boxes I have seen have them there...is that the requirement, or, just common way to build it?

Alright well I finally have a new box design for my level 5 15". I just need some help with those of you who have built boxes in very tight situations. I have about an inch on the left and right side to spare and a few inches on top. I cannot build it outside and then toss the box in because my trunk space is too small. Rotating it will be difficult as well.. I have read on here people doing very big boxes in small areas inside their car. Pictures will be posted soon in my build log as well!

I have heard that mounting a 15" subwoofer (btl) in a car will be louder, or at least shake more, if it is facing up rather than back. does anyone have any experience or insight on this topic?

  17. I know I've seen plenty of people use spray/roll on bed linings for the outside of their enclosures and such. I am wondering two things though, was it applied to the bare MDF or with a primer on the MDF first and how well is it holding up after "x" amount of time? I'm about to start on the enclosure and amp rack for my Jimmy. I had planned to paint the port to match the truck and use standard charcoal colored cabinet carpet to cover the box and amp rack with. Though upon thinking about possible liquid damage to the MDF on the floor/amp rack I'll be building I thought perhaps the liquid bed liner may be the better route. I have no experience with it though so I was ho…

I am currently waiting on my 1st xcon and want to run 2 eventually but don't know if I can. I can slide a 31W x 12 3/4H x 29D through the rear seat opening. That is about the max size i can do through the seat opening i could go an extra half inch in the sides and maybe an inch on height but would be tight squeeze. Also i want ported if possible. Thanks for any help.

Well I went to my teams shop last weekend and decided I would do a little testing with my new setup. The equipment used is a 21in warden and SAZ 3500. The vehicle is a 97 blazer. Electrical is one yellow top under the hood one extra battery in the back and 2/0 welding cable. Box is a little over 9 cubes and tuned at 40 htz. If any one would like to give feedback on how to get it louder or just comments in general everything helps. ok i am pending the idea of having an amp rack instead of a backseat ( it depends on the qoute i get) and since the amp's would be in the open i was thinking about totally enclosing it and having the top back pexiglass so since i think to think totally through i was looking at ventliation for it since has been hot out latley ( i live in florida) and i am wondering what others with amp racks have used to. first i was thinking 12v fans but then i thought that i would need a exit hole for the air to move out. then i started looking at Liquid Cooling for computers since computers are 12v. and that is all i could think of.

The past few weeks I have been going to a few comps here and there and noticing a lot of talk about what to tune your box to to get the highest SPL. Just looking to get opinions on here since there are a lot of competitors. Me personally, Im running 2 DC level 5 15's box tuned to 40hz @ 7.7 cubes doing 149.4 @ 53 hz........Not sure if i could tune it down to get better results or to tune it higher. Anyone got any suggestions?

Has anyone done one of these before ? I reciently picked up a eD e8a and I wanted to try it in one. I found a formula that seems fairly simple to follow. Build a box with 2 chambers, one at 3 cuft and the other one EXACTLY half of that, ie 1.5 cuft. Next cut 3 ports all IDENTICAL in length. Put one in the face of each chamber and the third in the wall separating the two chambers. In this instance each port would be either 12.5" long for a little deeper response or 8" long for a little more SPL. Now you have a box with a big chamber with a vent in it, a small chamber with a vent in it, and a third vent in the wall between the two. The woofer also mounts in the large chambe…
