I have 2 12" DB Drives the model number is: PLW12D4. I would like to know what the total dimensions for a box should be like the inside area and the LxWxD should be? What should it be made out of? How the port should be and where the port should be? how many Hz should it be for the best possible SPL? Also, the box is going in a 1997 Ford Thunderbird. Right now I have the subs each wired to there own amp and the amps are Crunch Pzi1500.1 so are these amps good enough or should I look into buying a new amp, If so what amp? The subs are rated as follows: 2000 watts total power and 1000 Watts RMS. I don't think I am powering them to there full capacity. So any sugges…

I found a sweet deal on an older model eclipse. I am trying to get a job, but the economy sucks. I also decided, i am going to wait on the lincoln, until i prove to myself that i can treat my car nice, because i just dont trust myself enough yet (i'm clumsy). So for the mean time (and while i save up for insurance, the car and the stereo, i am toying with the idea of building a t-box for the back seat-area and into the hatch. Subs in question are (2) SSA xcon 18's, and a sundown 3500D. i am still deciding on a powermaster battery batteries, but Knu wires and fuses for sure. My goal is a low-end monster, maybe 25-28hz. i would like some of you box-gurus to throw me some po…

How do i tell if its my sub or my box or my tuning that is making certain notes hit weird like the song run this town by jay z sounds like s**t in my car. Btw i have an L715 in a 4.44 cubic ft internal box tuned to 34hz and it is ran by a kx1200.1 that does 1400 rms. Thanks.

I want you guys to post things here such as materials and bracing methods used to create the stiffest, non-flex box out there and how it's done. I'm tryin to find some materials so when i go to tear down my wall that i have something to fall back on. I've came across this but the comments are up in the air... Some competitors say it's good... others who haven't used it say it won't hold up... Durock... I had visioned on using 5 layers of 5\16" thick in between 2 layers of 0.75" MDF = approximately 3" thick total material. Then cross brace it with - 0.75" all-thread. Now, i'm looking for the stiffest out there... I had read to pour resin in, on and around each Durock lay…

box dimensions 38 * 13 * 15.98= 7894.12 in³ = 4.56835 ft³ tuned to 32hz Bracing with 1 in dowel rod up/down r=.5 h=15.95 3.142 * .25 * 15.94 = 12.5 in³ = 0.007233 ft³ front/back r=.5 h 12.97 3.142 * .25* 12.97 = 10.188 in³ = 0.005895 ft³ probably two of these.. perpendicular or parallel so this leaves either 4.553884 for parallel or 4.555222 for perpendicular, up/down and front/back plus sub displacement of .19 4.363884 parallel.......... and for port area, with 57.25 in² slotted, ~50% for aero is 28.625 in² so a 6in aero port will be about 13.62 in long with the flare, with 28.26 in² without. round is also about 55% more efficient than slot so.. i think all my math …

Im Helping a friend design a box he kinda wants a half wall. Two subs inside the cab ( no rear seat) and two in the trunk area. My idea is 3.5 cubic feet per sub about 55 cubic inches of port per sub. It will b one big box but inside it will be like each speaker has its own box and they all have their own port. So i suppose 14 cub ft internal after sub and port displacement and overall about 220 cub inches of port how does that sound any advice is appreciated. He has none of the equipment yet but he wants 4 cvr 15s and for power either two kicker kx1200.1 or one zx or kx 2500.1?

Hey, I just built my first box. 2.18 cubic feet tuned to 34hz, for under the seat of a 2003 Silverado. The box sounds great, but looks horrible. So, my questions are. Do you use wood glue to hold the box together? Or just screws? Do you use screws or nails? What type of silicone do you use to seal the box? Help is greatly appreciated. And for those wondering; the box was built for an RE Audio SX 10", so far we've tested it with a Soundstream SPL 10" and it sounds great, the RE should be here in a few days.

In anyone's experience, does it matter if the elbow of an L-Port is angled or kept at 90*? As far as sound quality or output is concerned.. It would be easier to build boxes with a 90* angle like that found on the RE box calculator. I've always used an angled elbow, as shown below.. It just seems to make sense, but just wondering!

I think I got my first box design down, hope to have you guys double check it all for me....... tunning will be at 35 hz. port area is 62 sqaure inches box volume is 4.29 ( havn't figured out what the 45's and braceing will displace) I just used 4 cubes for all my math. useing 3/4" mdf and will use double baffle. port opening will measure 15.5" W X 4" H , useing the bottom of the enclosure as the bottom of the port, ported to the side. port length will be 27.5" long the port will fire toward a vertical mdf wall on the drivers side. sub will fire up, and i will plan on having it inverted, for now. it will work out that the sub will be almost centered in the vehicle. kee…

Hey guys just need some advice here. I have a 98 Dodge Ram Extended cab and plan to install a BTL 18 in the back. The seat will come out and I have ample room for enclosure. I just want to know if anyone else has done this kind of install in a similar truck and I basically want to know if the FI specs for box will be the best, maybe someone else has found something that works better. I have an Exile X2400.1 that is going to push it. I listen to mainly rap music and I want that sucker to pound. I already performed big 3 upgrade and have cap ready to go, my truck is diesel so I have 2 batteries already. I figured FI's specs for enclosure are on the money just looking to see…

Hi, I am curious as to what the best way it is to have the system not be choked up in a trunk. currently my box leaves about 4-5 inches of room between it and the side of the opening that goes into the cabin from the trunk. so thats the only gap there is between the trunk and the cabin, unless you count the rear deck, but that doesnt let much air through. so im designing a new enclosure to fix this problem, now my question is, is it better to have space for air to flow above the box or on the side of the box? this will be for a sinlge 12" BTL, and if i do it with the airspace above the box i will have about 3 inches tall by around 28-30 inches wide of a gap between the …

So I have heard to get optimum spl out of my box and best proforance out of my sub I would have to find the resonant frequency of my car. So I fired up the SSA forum seachers and i didn't come across so I imediatly fired up the google machine and did some seaching and here is my findings: I can use math by: Now you measure the distance from the cone to the meter(the whole path it takes). remember the soundwave comes out of the front of the cone at 90 degress(straight) and out the back at 180. once you get the distance from the cone to the meter placement in inches, you divide that into 13,560. you will probobly get a high number, which is suspected. Since its 90 degrees, …
