Got a new car and want to run the single biggest FI BTL NEO I can fit. I have measured my trunk and I have 32x32x18 to work with, the car is a 2012 chevy cruze LTZ. My question is, about how big of a box I can use. I'm thinking I could possibly fit 1 15" at 4-5 cubes but I'm no box builder. I would love to run 1 18" inch but the btl requires 6-8 cubic foot so I doubt it would fit.

Hello. I've got a BTL 12, the new model, with the spl gap, short coil and cooling and I'm looking for some ideas on a box volume I can use for burps and keep it mechanically safe. I had an old 1.3cf box laying around so I used that for some quick testing. The highest score with all testing was only 147dB on 3600w clamped watts. The actual power to the woofer will be a bit over 4000w once I get good battery. The goal is to score 150dB out of this single 12 and the small box is 3dB short. This is how the 1.3cf box looked at the end of the testing: I also tried all combinations of sub / port facing except both of them back. A max volume suggestion would be useful as I …

What type of design would this be considered? Would it have any disadvantages to a regular ported enclosure? Drivers would be mounted during the enclosure being built. Is there any negative effects by having the drivers facing each other? any cancellation? What would be a good distance to have between the opposing cones? The more the better? Thanks

I have a 2000 Toyota 4runner.. Throwing in 4 old skool 15" ROCKFORD FOSGATE HX2. Sorry, I had to put the name in caps for respect!! Anywho, I got some measurements here... I want the box 40" (width from wheel well to wheel well) x 36" (length from back seat to back door) x 20" (from bottom to top). So measurements are 40"x36"x20", outside measurements (roughly 16 cubic ft) . Here are my questions... Has anybody had 4 15" subs facing down towards the floor and had rectangle port facing up? My reason is, if you look real close at my pic, you can see 2 6x9 Kenwwods bolted on top of box. Also, I usually haul wood and crap for my work and would really hate to get a sub busted…

Hey guys, I originally made a topic where I landed on the idea of running an 8" midbass paired along with a 3" fullrange. After giving it a bunch of thought, because of the harsh drop off of the full rangers at higher frequencies (if not directly on axis with the listener.) I don't think that this would be the best option for me. I would prefer if both me and my passenger would be able to have the best listening experience. Would this be best achieved by just a simple 6.5" and tweeter combination, or are there different options that might work best? Just looking for some advice, -Mike

I'm down for a few day for recovery from a surgery. So I'm brainstorming about my front stage. 99 2dr blazer is the vehicle. Right now I'm thinking about loading my pillars will multiple full range drivers. Not really looking for super ess que but half assed decent imaging and response. The sub stage is going to be decently loud so I need loud up front. Right now, I'm looking at 3-4 of these per pillar. I really like the look of these too. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=295-352 Possibly four of these. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=290-226 Then I like the idea of 6 of these in each pillar but I need to make su…

I'm running 1 SSA DCON in a 2.3ft^3 ported box at 31hz, its down firing in a 02 GMC sierra on a Diamond Audio 400.1. It just doesn't seem to hit the low low notes like my last subs, I dont know if its because its ported and they were sealed or if its the Subsonic filter or what, just looking for suggestions. I can feel the lows and the port fires like a hurricane, I just can't hear them that well, it seems to be only below around 30hz, for everything else it slams, and seems to play everything accurately.

The SQ of the Qs are great but I want to know want the size and specs of a box that would maximize the dbs on daily music. I would think that the max ported box specs at 32hz would do that but would a smaller box be louder? And I know its "install dependent" but just want to see what others say.

This kind of goes with myths and lies. Here I am trying to figure out why some insist on a port box for spl? Is there a specific reason why? Some pros and Cons I know of for ported verses transmission lines. Ported: High spl output= pro High x max =con Loud bass output. Pro Box size= pro or con Transmission lines: Loud bass output below 70 hertz. = pro Reduced x-max =pro High spl output the same as a ported. = pro Large boxes =con The reason I see the transmission line is better is x max is reduced so when you add 8,000 watt burp to a 2,500 watts rms sub the tinsel leads do not come apart as easily. The t lines can be tuned the same as a ported for high outp…

Now that i'm playing the find-a-car game again, the beetle is back on my list, for price reasons. I currently have nothing planned (well i know i want thump, but beyond that, nothing) With a budget of $3k what is the loudest you could get a beetle, tuned low, to peak around 27-29hz. Back seats are optional. Would like a pair of subs, but a single badass sub wouldn't be the worst. everything besides the fabrication of the box, is done by my hand. This seems like a backwards goal, but my desired show off songs would be, like, Trunk Bang by dorrough and I cook - by OJ da Juiceman. If the low tuning doesn't murk the score, i'd like to be able to compete. Mid 140's would be a …

max dimensions are 17"h x 31"w x 27"d i will be running a crescendo bc2000 thinking pretty much the same thing anton miller has setup in his cavi it seems to be really efficient i want to be able to hit the low's really well so im thinking 30hz tuning ? this is what i have come up with so far 27w x 16h x 25d using 3/4 mdf should get me 5 cubes after sub displacement of .14 i should be at 4.72 using a 6" aero tuned to 30hz i need 14.5 inch flared and with port displacement i should be at around 4.5 cubes witch is max recommended for the sa-12's if im doing something wrong please let me no i plan on building tomorrow

Would it be possible to make a box out of the clear material and have it sound just as good as MDF if not better? I think Id like to go that route, why I dont know but a clear box would look cool to me.

Lately I've been pretty frustrated with my sub stage in my vehicle. I am not any kind of box designer but I can and have built my own from others blueprints. I've always helped my friend with systems in his 08 Grand Prix. I have installed a lot of my enclosures in his vehicle with good results. Then I put the same boxes in my vehicle and get something totally different. Every vehicle is different I understand this. We both have trunk cars. Mine is an 11' Malibu. He clearly has a slightly bigger trunk than I do. What I'm looking for is a better low end. The boxes I've used have all been tuned around 30-32ish. What do I need to take into consideration to build a box to ex…

I'm gonna be trying a lot of things and reporting what does and doesnt work. Unfortunately, i can't post back everything as the wall and corners have already been made. What i will be focusing on is head unit settings, amp settings, port area, port length, port angle, car seal jobs, car bracing, car mods, internal box coating, etc... As of right now, i did discover something rather interesting- The difference between playing a sine wave vs a square wave on the meter using a TLab. At low volume, a got a reading of 140.2 using a sine wave. At the same volume, i got a reading of 142.1 using a square wave. Now, when ran full tilt and clipped- SQUARE wave- 147.2 SINE wave - 14…

What material do you think is better to build with MDF or birch. I seen alot of builds using birch, but I have never used it. Does it hold up as well as mdf or better? What are the advantages of useing birch over MDF? Just want some input before I start building, thanks.
