I cannot decide on what to do. 4 SA-15"s in a standard ported wall, or 4 SA-15"s in a 4th order bandpass. What are the positives and negatives of both? I've helped build a 4 15"s wall in the 60's and an 8 12"s 4th in 60's. I like them both, both sound good, both played well. I just cannot decide on what type of enclosure to build.

I'm thinking about getting a professional shop to design and install a setup of 2 10" Icon's for me. Reason being is that it's going into a trunk (not a show car) and I want it to be practical (able to put THINGS in the trunk again) rather than having a simple carpeted box ... I want it to look good! I'm thinking about firing in (seats can fold down), sealed off, all carpet ... They talked about covering the amplifiers ... covering my battery in the trunk ... But if I'm paying a shop, what are some options that I should inquire about? Removable plates ... Plexiglass ... Company Logos on the inside deck lid ... stealth on both sides of the trunk ... lighting ... I don't w…

I have modeled up a box for a 12" Fi.SSD Now I'd just some of you box builders to just verify what I've done. And let me know if its good or not Here is a pic since they're worth 1000 words: Port and Sub displacement has been accounted for. Where would be the best location on the port side to place the sub? I dont quite understand port loading and such. Thanks in advance

I was wondering if i could run two rl-p 18's in only 7.6 cubes sealed after the sub displacement. Sounsplinter suggests 4 cubes for each 18, so would running them in a smaller box not be a good idea?

I got a box built for my 2 Funkin Audio 12" subs but something is wrong with one of them So I used 2 of my Mass destruction napalm's I had never used them before. I had the box built at 2.742 cubes ported to 40 for the funking audios the Mass destruction napalm seem to be doing ok and they seem very very loud.. My question is do you think they will be ok in this space or should I get 2 of something else like the BTL that is good up to 3 cubes.. I am running a xxx-6500d and they seem to be taking it ok I don't want to push them just yet as they are brand new. Open to suggestions don't want to smoke to new subs for sure.

So I'm taking my setup to a 1x event in timmonsville sc. I'll finally be getting metered on a t/l, but I'm wondering what I should bring with me, and if anyone has any tips. There are 2 classes they said I could compete in, truck/suv or something else like extreme personal or something like that. I don't know what would be better, or if it makes much of a difference because like I said, it's my first competition. I've already been told not to do anything to drain the batteries before getting metered, don't know how sound that is or not... Just wondering if there's anything I should know before driving 70+ miles away tomarrow moring. ;D Thanks.

Okay, Im not much of a box-builder. Nor do I know any of the concepts to box-building. I was wondering for my MAW-15's, Which I'm putting in a 4.0 ^3cu. ft. box sealed, When I get the box built does it need to be two independent chambers with 2 cu ft on each side or 1 big 4 cu ft. box. I wasn't sure what if that had an effect on the subs and/or their performance. Thanks in advance. ~MadroX

I am in the process of building my car and I am wanting to do something different. I started out with 3 solox 12's but traded them for 2 solox 18's. I have 4 crunch Gp3000d's to use but I only have 18 cubes total to use. So i thought of using only one solox 18 with 2 GP's in a 4th or 6th order bandpass enclosure. This is for daily and maybe a once in a while bass race/street beat run. Would it be better to run 2 18's ported or one in a bandpass? If a bandpass how big sealed and ported.

Height = 13Inches Width = 48 Inches split in half for two seperate compartments one for each sub. Depth1 = 6.5 Inches top Depth2 = 12 Inches bottem Now I donw know much about porting or tuneing. Im running two CVX's dual 2ohm VC wired @ 2ohm load off a 1500.1 zx This long skinny box fits behind my two seats in my pickup truck with one sub behind each seat. When my cousin made the box for me he put a board in the center to seperate the two subs so they both have different compartments. I wanted to maybe port the box to get a deeper boom. But i have no clue how big to cut a port hole... VentedCompact (MinimumEnclosureVolume from the manual CVX12 1.7…

I'm designing a new box and have a sort of kink in my design. I'm looking to do a baffle with a 30 degree angle in it. Now the issue with this that I do not know the clearance for the sub since it will be angled downwards. It is a 15" Havoc (standard basket), and I just wanted to know if anyone had any ideas about the clearance. I basically need to know how far above the bottom of the baffle the sub needs to be to clear the bottom piece. Thanks!

hey guys, im about to build a ported box to sit on my back seat, just for a little fun. amp is an saz1500d@1 ohm wired up to a diehard gold with 2/0 welding cable I realize box recommendations are 1.5 to 2 cubes ported at around 30-35hz with 12-15sq inches of port area per cube, but i was wondering if there was something more exact due to my lower power and config (being in a truck on the seat) its going to be a slot port because im going to use re's box calculator. oh and i planned on going sub firing up and port facing the windshield, is this a good or bad idea? im just looking for a daily street beater

I'd appreciate any help you guys can give me on this.... I have a 12'' Nightshade on the way and need some help with the enclosure. I currently have a 10'' Fi BL in 1.6 cubes tuned to 35 hz in my reg cab Ranger. I know it isn't the prettiest thing in the world, but it's the optimum size for the 12'' Nightshade and I'd like to re-use it. My first problem is the mounting depth.....I'm going to have to add some spacer rings to allow the Nightshade to fit depth wise and obviously I'm going to have to increase the cutout to allow a 12'' 12 spoke basket to fit. I wanted to ask you guys what would be the best way to go about this? Should I make a few circular spacers around the…

i switched to the Pap Moabs 2-15" and switched to a set of batterys 8v & 6v tied in sieres do a 14.97v and im not sure if it was the batterys or the subs that made the differance so im going to put the 2-15" SoundStream back in the boxx and see if that is the cause of the 2db drop or the batterys ? i need a bigg@ss battery charger...too cook the batterys to 20v and try agine !!! any input is welcome the guy grinning to the left in the background is my friend BEN we put his 2-15" Mtx 9500 subs in my old boxx & he beat be with my own boxx by 1.6db / 150.6db the boxx was built for street beat @ 35Hz his peek was 46Hz

Hello, I am looking for some help on whether I should do a sealed box, ported or slotted enclosure for my SA-8 V.2 SPL Dual 2OHM. For now, I'm putting a Sony Xplod XM-GTR2022 amp on it. Which runs 500RMS when bridged. I want to build the box slotted preferably, unless you guys give me enough reason to just do a sealed box if its going to be a better setup. If anyone out there already has some plans for a box they have built for their SA-8 V2, shoot them over to me! I'm open to pretty much anything right now. Im putting this sub in a Kia Forte Koup. Working with 19"Hx32"Wx13"D Thanks SSA!

W'sup guys, i'd like a little assistance on my box build. I'm doing revisions 2 my blowthrough in my 99' s-10 and need help on port size. My box will consist of 2 12" orion hcca's and will be 14.5" tall, 43" wide, and i'm not sure as 2 how much depth i'll need. I'm still in the process of learning how 2 calculate port size so assistance with this will be greatly appreciated. I currently have a blowthrough with a bandpass box formulated from Pete at hexibase. I've been trying 2 get him 2 help me construct a ported box but he's busy as hell and i've been trying 2 contact him for like 2 months with no reply. Can u guys possibly assist me? Thx alot.

I'm thinking about doing something that I've only see Steve Meade do, on a much larger scale. I want to build a small setup to just listen to music in the garage with. I have a cheap set of Pyle component speakers that I can use.. I'd like to build a ported enclosure like this. They would be ran off of a really old 100 watt 2 channel Pyramid amplifier. I do not plan on adding a subwoofer to the setup, just this set of components. Since this old amp doesn't have any sort of SSF, HPF, or LPF, it's playing a full range. I will have a crossover for the tweeter, but the woofer will be seeing even subsonic frequencies. I'm thinking about using 1" PVC for a port tuned around 40h…

Hey, I have a whole trunk to fill on a Impala 1972. I plan on either getting (4) 12 BTL or (2) 15 BTL. What do you guys suggest for this trunk and setup? I have seen 4 12s in a straight box going across but dont know if these require more space. Maybe have two on either side in an arrow up formation, speakers facing the rear trunk. ( ^ ). I plan to build it square ported and have an appeal once done.
