K, box dimensions are 35x32x16 externally. Internally this gives me roughly 8.57Cubes. I want to port this to 34hz or so, and i need a min area of 6 cubic feet after displacements, is this possible? I also need to know how many sq inches of port i should need. I am just going to run out and grab 2 sheets of MDF right now so any help would be wonderful. The only confusing part is that the RE calculator keeps giving me ridiculous port lengths when removing the second portion of the L to make it a square. Any port dimension recommendations would be wonderful. Thanks in advance. Chris

I came across these pics and was wondering if i could install some 8" mid-bass drivers in the same location. SQ/imagining is what i'm concerned about. Would it fly or should they be installed/positioned somewhere else?

I posted this on another forum and I would like to hear the thoughts from the gurus on here as well I have been ready through pages and pages of threads on adding rear fill to help maximize the front stage. After understanding how rear fill is used for this application many folks (including myself) have been thinking how to acquire the necessary L-R. On a side not L-R seems to be the most common method although there appears to be other methods for generating a rear fill signal which require a fancy processor. The MiniDSP 2x4 has a plug-in Rear/Center Channel. This plug-in gives you the generated L-R signal, xover, 31 band eq, and up to 27ms of delay. You can al…

Hey everyone! I'm looking to replace my current set-up with something new. My amp just died today on the way home from work and so I'm in the need of a replacement. Currently I have a set of RS65.2's up front only, after pulling out the rear deck speakers. Having only a front sound stage is new to me but, after running it a few weeks, I got used to it and really enjoy it. What I'm looking for is either a new amp to power the existing set I already have (not sure how much life is left in them) or get a new amp and a set of components to match. Budget is ~500 but I wouldn't mind going a little more if I could get a nice eq in there to really dial in the system. If you need …

would a port facing the side work in a 2001 eclipse hatchback.......its about a foot away from the panel if I were to face the port to the back ....the port will only be about an inch away from the back panel.... and I don't think it will have any air flow. if I face the port to the side .....will it practically be the same as facing it to the back?

I need to find out what the correct airspace is with this box. The depth is 20" with the sub facing up. The 36" is the bottom of the box. It's shaped like a "T" to fit over the wheel wells. I know it's kinda crazy, but I need to maximize the room I have for an 18" sub I have coming in shortly. Thx for your help, Vic.

  17. Hello all! I am looking to reconfigure my trunk set-up in my Mazda 3 and am looking for some feedback on my idea to see if this would give me my desired result. Currently, I have the subwoofer firing straight to the back of the car, with the port opened up to the rear deck ( I use a flared round port). The problem is that the rear deck is completely solid and this causes quite a bit of rattling, even after deadening the whole trunk. What I am considering doing is rebuilding the box to have the sub firing straight to the back of the car, with the port opened up on the back of the box. In order to do this, I would need to put an elbow on the PVC port because the box will…

my box is going to be 7 cubes after displacemets. box is 20 inces deep (so one port side can be 18.5") 112 inches of port area, 33hz my question is, can i do two ports, each 18.5"x3" at 12" long for ~33hz would that yield a net port area of 112 and keep the 33 hz tuning? if not, how do i go about calculating this? im going to try to do a drawing real quick to help you see what im doing

Well thaks to McVay in Oswego we finally have some "local" shows scheduled for the 2005 competition season for IASCA. The first show is on March 27th, with one show a month all the way up to the month of October. I don't know about the rest of you guys but since I was unable to accrue enough points towards Finals last season, I just can't wait to get back into the lanes this season. im would like to know if port are is THAT important. freind of mine has a BL 12, he wants to buy a box that another friend built, but the port area is under 12 sq inches per cube. the sub that was in the box before sounded pretty good. just wondering if the port are being a lil small is restricting output or SQ in any noticeable way. its off by like 8 sq inches. thanks

I discovered this on a Honda forum that someone had posted, the description of the box are in the web browsers little tag (this is how it is using firefox). They range from 1-2 subs, and 2 cf all the way to 4/5 cf. The tuning is a little high on a few of them from 35-37 hz, but theres some lower. I think this may help a few out, Sub Box Diagrams
