i am building a sub box for a m3. it will be in the spare tire well. the box size that i am shooting for is about 0.5cu ft after sub and port. the cubes i am using i got for sundown audio. i am just looking for a nice sq sound. i am not sure where to tune it but my best guess would be 35hz. i am looking to go ported and need the port size and how long the port should be. i'm only running about 300watts.

  2. I'm posting this up again....... THIS time heavily revised, it now has slot port calculations, and CUT SHEETS! This EXCEL based box calculator will take your enclosure size, woofer displacement, the wood thickness you plan on using and the frequency you wish to tune it to and gives you the GROSS enclosure size, dimensions (Including CUSTOM dimensions in which you input two of the OUTSIDE measurements and it gives you the last one.) PLUS gives you the cutout sizes for each panel of the enclosure you just asked for....... I'm putting it out for real world testing to be sure the math is good and the cuts are helpful......... Let me know ASAP what you think and what proble…

((2 * 250.3125 * 10) - (0.159230769 * 2 * (12^3)) - (30.830229 * 2)) / (12^3) = 2.54299074 cu ft. That’s with port, sub, 45s and skeletal displacement taken into consideration. That makes the box tuned to around 34.02Hz if the math is correct..... let me know guys, what you think it is for 2 dc audio xl 10"s powered by an aq3500d1 in a 1ohm load, think my tunining is to high? still able to hit the lows you think? i wanted to be able to play normal music as well since its my daily driver 1st real build so im just taking everything into condsideration since this box is built already just waitin on my other d3100 to come monday

  12. So Im building my box but am confused as hell. Ive read I need 12-14sq. in. of port per ^3 but the manufacturer insists on 40sq. in. x10" long @32hz. for a 6^3 net box for my 18. Its an Atomic APX. When I spoke with them they said dont listen to anybody build this exact. WTF?! Any idea why? Its rated at 5000rms. Would the larger port make it unload at low freq. with that much power and thats why they say what they say? Shouldnt it have massive port noise?! Im so confused. Someone please straighten me out on why they want it EXACTLY as they say and yet the port area doesnt make sense?

I decided to finally sack up and start planning a blow through. I just can't find anything around the web that actually explains. I really want to use aero ports. Do you think, if I sent two aero ports through the bed, and into the cab, that would be sufficient? I'd like to cut the smallest holes possible. Although I said before that I sacked up, I'm still pretty scared about cutting up my relatively new truck =). So, anyone have personal experience, pictures, or even tutorials? Thanks OH. Before I forget, My goals are to sound good, but have a really nice side of spl on the side. Just a daily ground pounder that sounds good,. I'm still trying to decide on which subs, bu…

Subs: two DC Audio LVL4XL 15's Here is the room I have set aside for the box. I can possibly go bigger. But, if possible, would like to not go bigger. 23 inches high 20 inches deep 38 inches wide I want subs up and the port up. I would like to use a slot port. Tunning could be at whatever would work best with the dimensions given. Anywhere between 30hz to 40hz would be fine with me. I dont know what my cabin peaks at but I have had two setups, one 18 tuned to 32 and two tens, not sure on tunning, Both setups peaked at between 40 to 45 hz. I will be using a US Amps AX3200DE to power them. This will be in a small SUV, 07' Honda CR-V.

Just got metered on an Audio control...Did it with music. One song (The one I figured was the loudest) hit 145.0db! The song was Plies - All Black slowed by wattz305 All the other songs we tried were in the 140-143.5 range. I went in figuring I'd be happy hitting those numbers. Around 40hz seems to be the sweet spot. Still wish I had access to a termlab though.

My speaker cups have huge gapr around them where air can escape. The glue is not thick or sealing the box very well. No I am not building a new one. a few questions. 1= What would you use to reglue it from the inside?? 2= What would you cover the terminal holes with?? 3= what are you installing the speaker with??
