Ive read on some forums that peel and seal will work for sound deadening just like dynomat. I was walking through home depot yesterday and saw the roofing tar, would this work like the roadkill liquid stuff? Its alot cheaper.

alright so im building a box for 2 15" LI's. the box would be 33" in depth which gives me 3 inches from the hatch on my jimmy. i think i read on here somewhere that there should be a least 6 inches for it to load off whatever the ports facing. the subs would be on top and port on bottom.

I want to use 2 6" or 1 8" for my next box since it will allow me to tune lower and also give me more internal space using the same dimensions. But on the face of the box I can't actually use a flare like the one Adrian has or the ones that partexpress sells, because it won't fit. Now can I use a round over bit on the port opening of the wood to make it a flare? Pic below is how I made a box for 4 15s and I had 4 6" pvc pipes. It's double baffled. The front baffle was used as .75" of the port length since the pvc didn't go all the way out of the box. It only went into the inner baffle. So can I use a round over bit to make the outer baffle a flare by using the bit? I'm no…

Am trying to figure out the port area for round ports in my design. Am going to build an enclosure that is 4 cu.ft. after all displacement turned to 30Hz for a 15" Fi Q. I know that for a slot port, that its length X width to calculate port area (i.e 14 X 4 = 56 sq.in. of port). I also know that for a round port, that its Phi X radius sq. to calculate port area (i.e 3.142X4 for a 4" pipe = 12.568 sq.in of port). This is what am not understanding is, to get the needed port area for using 4" port in a 4 cu.ft. enclosure, you would need about 4 or 5 of them, or am i just full speed down the wrong side of the track? I was going to use a slot port but decided that it would ea…

I have read a lot on the subject, but I can't get a final answer. Like a lot of people in my country (we have small cars), I have limited space in my trunk, but still want to use a ported box. I've read that round ports can make me save space. But I don't understand how. The same rules should apply : 12-16 sq inch of port area per ch ft. What can I expect for a 3.5 cu ft box ? I would like to make a smaller box so that my amps can breathe Thanks

Can I get away with using a single 4 inch port for my Icon 12? I don't have enough room to get 2 ports in due to the length. Lets assume the box is 3 cubes after sub displacement. Can be made smaller if that is optimal.

Ive seen people that compete use thin pvc pipes cut in half and taping it to the walls/edges of the enclosure. Does this help create better airflow? Increase SPL?

Im a noob at woodworking and have a couple of questions for those that are experienced with routers. I currently have a porter cable fixed based router i snatched up from a pawn shop for $20. I wanna get a plunge router as well in the near future. Collet size is not an issue because both routers are 1/2 and 1/4 shank interchangeable. What kind/size/length bit do i need to do hole cutouts and also what size bit for roundover's for port edges? Assuming 3/4 mdf is being used. Thanks

I have yet to personally use an RTA for my own personal use so let's see if I get this right- I want to use Pink noise because that is generated to play how our ears perceive sound. When analyzing what pink noise looks like on a computer, it appears from 20hz-20khz, for every octave from 20hz, the amplitude drops 3db. So, at 20khz, it's very low compared to 20hz but our ears must be very sensitive there(if you can hear it) to perceive a flat response. So, when i go to RTA my front stage, is my goal to also (if it were perfectly possible) to achieve a full range reading exactly how pink noise is generated? 3db drop for every octave up? In the end, I would assu…

I am going to make a box with aeroports for a 15" Fi Q powered by a SAZ-1500. My deminsions that I have available are 34"x30"x14". I was able to get 4 4" aeroports with both sides flared from someone which should fit in the 12-16 of area per cubic foot. I was looking at a box that had outer deminsions of 32"x28"x13" to get just over 4 cu. ft. after sub and port displacements tuned to 32 hz. After doing the calculations for the box I have found out that I am suppose to use 29-30" long aero ports and that will not be able to fit so I was thinking of tuning a little higher. I was wondering what is the rule on the distance the aeroport should be from the back wall so I c…

I was wondering what the consequences of running 16v in a daily driver car would be. I know the car is designed for 12v, so it probably wouldn't like it. I was just wondering if it would cause damage to the car's electrical components. <--I like that smilie

Just need a little help with my box. Running 2 15" Lanzars http://www.lanzar.com/itempage.asp?MODEL=MAXP154D This is the box I've drawn up. Driving a 2004 Ford Taurus. Not very good with boxes. Can anyone come up with a better design?.. Max dimensions 36L x 18H x 20W I'm not sure about "tuning" to certain hz but I would like to hit LOWWW bass please Current Design:

I am going the wall route and am in the designing stages to make sure everything is going to fit. The issue I am having is with my ports... I can get my tuning around 35 which is where I want it when there is only 4 inches ^2 of port per square inch but I know that is WAYYY low. When I get my ratio of port in^3 to box volume right my tuning ends up in the teens.... what can I do? The dimensions I'm going with are 48 inches wide, 36.5 inches tall, 33 inches front to back. I just need some help with tuning... this is going to be a daily heavily demoed setup. edit** and the port in this picture is 17x8 which is about as big as I'm going to be able to go. And this setup is f…

Im having a hell of a time fitting a box into my s10, along time ago i bought a pre fabbed sealed enclosure for 2 12's, downfire design.. fits nicely behind the seats.. well the box is crap and im ready to go ported, i have 2 Re SR12's i built a box for and it was garbage as well.. has anyone built a box for these trucks? mine is a 1998. Im thinking about just going with 1 12" to get an optimal box size. More than likely a Fi BL or Q 12". havent decided yet.. so again if anyone has built for this vehicle or can show me some pictures of what other people do i would appreciate it. Also Im a bigger guy so the seat needs to be as far back as possible (no tilt wheel).

Alright, so I'm planning a build for my S10 reg cab, and need help designing the box. It's going to be 2 SA-10's in a 2 cu. ft box net, ported, tuned to 33-35 Hz. Also powered by a SAZ-1500. My max dimensions are 50"L, 22"H, 9"D bottom, 5"D top. I made up a box using the torres box calculator, but I was having problems with the port. I'm planning on using aeroports, but they were needing to be too long for that tuning in a small box. Not sure what diameter, and how many I would need. If anyone can help me out I'd appreciate it!

Okay, so ive been trying to decide what i want to do with my 600 dollar tax return. i get it in a week. =) not bad for only working two months eh? lol anyways... I have a 96 tacoma regular cab pickup with the bench seat in it. I have had a few systems in it. I have a brutus bxi2008d. My PLAN is to get an SA 12 and build a box as big as can behind my seat. (after many measurements and few boxes that ive already built i think i can get about 2.3 cube inside of a 3/4 box before any displacements) with that said onto my questions... i have been using the12volts calculator for port length.... with from i have heard the general rule of thumb is 12-16 inches of port area per c…

Ported SA does this make sense? Hey guys iv been searching back and forth between forums to calculate my box as close as possible. Before I spend more time and most importantly money on my design I'd like to know if I'm on the right track. Any help would be greatly appreciated Box width - 24 Box height -11 Depth 1- 8 Depth 2- 8.5 Total Net - .835 Port measurements Height - 3 Width- 3.5 Length - 29.64 Now when i put that port in the calculator it says my total net will be .653 the sa 8 calls for .5-.75 ported so I guess I'm right in the middle the other forum I used says that port will have the boxs original net volume of .641 ft3 tuned to 36 hertz Does this seem to be co…

Hey everyone, First off I wanna apologize for changing my mind so much. My financial situation has changed, so my future setup ideas have too. Even though I have not followed through with other plans ya'll have helped me with, I have learned a lot for each comment or post I read. On to the enclosure idea. I will be getting a single SA-10 D2 as soon as my current setup sells. I will be running it off of a BRZ1200 @ 1 Ohm (for headroom). My goals are for it to be decently loud (I have had an E-12, hope to be comparable to that), and flat sounding for all music types... From dubstep to decaf to classic rock to country. It will be in my daily which is the trunk of a 2000 H…

Okay, so I have a quick question. I am planning on getting 2 Sundown SA-15's. I already have an enclosure built by the local shop, but I believe it's for an SUV. It fits in my trunk, so I was considering just rollin' with it. Only problem is, it's subs up, port back. It's 3.1ft^3 per sub, which seems fine.. but I could also have someone build me a custom enclosure that would be more of a traditional trunk style enclosure. I'm trying to save as much money as possible. What should I do? What would sound better? Thanks.

I am thinking about putting 2 SA-8 in my truck. I have a reg cab 03 S10. I need something small cause of the room issue. The box calculator on the RE Audio site gave me some weird dimensions. Like the port only having .25 inches gap to the back plate with a fz of around 33hz. Does that sound right? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Just picked up a SA-8 v.2 and I need some help designing a box. Every design I find is for 2 subs, but I'm only going to be running one. This will be in a trunk car and powered by a DSC1500.1D. Maximum dimensions are 14" H x 36" W x 18" D

i am building a sub box for a m3. it will be in the spare tire well. the box size that i am shooting for is about 0.5cu ft after sub and port. the cubes i am using i got for sundown audio. i am just looking for a nice sq sound. i am not sure where to tune it but my best guess would be 35hz. i am looking to go ported and need the port size and how long the port should be. i'm only running about 300watts.
