I was just wondering how much space between the end of the driver to the wall of the enclosure is sufficient? Meaning what wont hurt the driver or sq/ spl. I'm thinking of a 15" havoc ported. The xmax spec is 30 mm if that matters. Thanks in advance and merry Christmas to all.

Hi guys, I'm about to start on my first build. I've got a temp. sub that has been laying around for a while that I want to use until i get some money saved up to rebuild. It's a sonly Xplod 12 (I know) it'll be running off a rockford fosgate 300.1 in a trunk. I'd like to have the tuning somewhere around 28hz-32hz.. I'm not sure how the driver will like it so i'll let you guys tell me what ya'll think. It'll be going in a 2002 Buick Regal trunk. The demensions are: W=45", L=45", H=21.5". Those are the max demensions. If you guys need any more information just feel free to ask. The subwoofer model is: XS-L120P5W

I'm planning a box for a trunk setup w/ folding rear seat. The subwoofer will be facing the rear and port at the rear or side, and enclosure moved as close to the cabin. What is the rule on height and width clearance of the enclosure in relation to the rear deck and side panels? Is there supposed to be space in between? Can either be flush?

I have loved my 18's since I got them, but due to a baby being on the way, I have to get rid of the 150 pound 12 cu.ft monster in the back of my little XUV. I'm replacing them with......(drum roll please)...... A pair of Critical Mass UL 12's! I hope to god that they fit the bill for me output and soundwise.

What would be the best way to wire into the box. Best as in the most secure, and most current flow. A friend of mine just drilled holes and fed the wire through, then just siliconed around to seal it up. I have also heard of people driving bolts through and wiring to them. If this will work, what type/metal bolt would be best. My last setup used actual terminals that I got from Sound Advice. I siliconed the back of them in, but not sure if they were secure enough. All advice is appreciated.

I'm new to this forum, so let me know if this has already been covered. I have a Carvin HD900 amp and a RLP15d2 driver and want to build an MDF enclosure. I would like to position the driver so it is downward firing and would also like to have port(s), perhaps on the rear. I would like to have a width of 20" and height isn't a concern. I think I want to tune to around 14hz (want something really low) and need to know about amounts of polyfill inside the enclosure as well as internal bracing requirements, etc. Basically the whole picture:) I'm gonna run 900w in 4ohm bridged mono mode for power (think that makes sense...lol). Please help!! Thanks!!

Hello all. I was hoping to get some advice from the SSA community. I have a 2009 Sierra Ext Cab. Currently for substage i am running a 18" Zcon and AQ2200d. The box is 6.6cu ft. net @ 28hz. with 112sq in port area. Sub is firing forward behind drivers seat, port is up. The whole truck has been deadened other than the roof (not too much flex). Pics can be seen im my build thread. Since the pics i have added the AQ2200d and changed the tuning from 34hz to 28hz with a port extension. (the port now fires up from the top front instead of the top back) Changing the tuning really helped with my lows but its still not quite where i want it to be volume wise. Some songs that slamm…

I know those precision sound ports from parts express are pretty popular so i am thinking someone might have an answer for me when using the psp flared port length calculator (http://www.psp-inc.com/tools.html) is the "flare length port required" from the ends of the flared portion of the port? or is it the straight length portion that the flared ends connect to? thanks in advance

ghs_wrestler 189 and I went to a local comp yesterday and they were using an old K & M mic that had been calibrated by Audiocontrol, according to the JL rep there. Somehow we went from 143 dB on a new Termlab with 5.1 cubes @ 36hz to 131 on this mic with 5 cubes @ 46 hz. Everyone was hitting kind of low, but there were people there that I guarantee would not have done better than us, but did. Any suggestions?

I am quickly becoming overwhelmed trying to plan a box for my BTL. I want to rebuild, as my current box is water damaged and pretty ugly at that; not to mention, it's tiny; 5cu @ 34 before displacement, and the port is small as well, 4" x 15.5" (it was free with my woofer) My max dimensions are 34"x26"x23", and i'm aiming for a pretty low tuning, thinking 28-30hz, I like a lot of slowed music, Decaf, etc. I have a local builder, but I haven't seen any of his work in some time, so I'd feel better walking in with a design in hand, and simply having him make the cuts and assemble it. It'll end up in an SUV, so I'm thinking sub up port back, same as my current box. Would…

Hello to everyone on SSAudio! I've been asked by my freind Aaron to use this section of the forum to help with technical, enginneering and just good all around mobile electronics information. I think in order to make this successful, Dave Edwards and I need to know HOW technical you want this to be. My company is an engineering based consultation and testing facility for manufactures, etc. I've got 30 years of technical knowledge to share so lets get the ball rolling. Thanks
