Yesterday my girlfriend was doing homework on my computer and was trying to open Microsoft Word when the computer froze. She said it was making "thinking noises" but grew impatient and did a hard turn-off. Then when she turned it back on it said "Operating system not found" and wouldn't load. I've never had problems with it before other than an occassional blue screen if I leave the computer on too long because it seems that it doesn't like my wireless adapter sometimes. I just unplug it and it reloads fine. It's a Dell Inspiron 2600 laptop that's almost 7 years old now. I get home after work, oblivious to the problem, and turn it on. It comes up with an options scr…

Looking for a decent laptop for under $650 ($500 or less would be ideal) and I'm laptop dumb. I don't do any gaming. I don't download movies/music or do any video editing. Just needs to be used for basic uses......Microsoft Office, internet (I'm going to purchase a wireless router aswell), and eventually I want to get the software and hardware for a MLS measurement system. So processor, RAM and HDD don't need to be industry leading, but I also don't want something that will overly limit future uses. For example, I would probably take a higher quality videocard over a huge HDD. I want a minimum screen size of 15" and DVD RW (which anymore seems to be the standard). I'…

I got a laptop a couple years ago and now I primarily use it at work or for work-related things. So, now I am looking for something else. No games, no movies, little music ... mainly used for Word/Excel documents and surfing the internet. 17" screen would be great. Price range - somewhere around $1500? Anyone have any suggestions? I have been completely out of the game since I bought mine two years ago so I am unsure as to what is regarded as the best right now. Is it still down to the whole AMD vs. Intel Core 2 Due thing? To be honest I have not looked around much, but I was wondering if anyone had anything off the top of their heads. I will get some model numbers…

So, it goes like this, i got up from my chair and i forgot the power cord was still plugged into my laptop. So this resuted in my computer being yanked right out of my hands. So i took it into our local computer guy and he said that i fvcked up my hard drive beyond repair. This makes sense to me because everytime i try to boot it, it says "Cannot find operating System". So my question is, instead buying a brand new Hard Drive for my computer could i just use my Portable Hard Drive for my main hard drive and then just buy a brand new Windows Vista for my computer? My Only problem "I" think i will have with this is that it wont be fast enough because it really isnt made …

Alright, so I'm in the market for a large capacity portable music player (atleast 80GB+). I would like for the player to be FLAC compatible and also be able to hook it up to a headunit like the Alpine W205/W505. I really have no bias on players and have no problem considering an Ipod. This will be used mostly in my truck and maybe every now and then around the house when I need to be quiet or plug the headphone jack into whatever system might be available at the time.

Found this on another forum, should be very cool. Site is running a little slow, but loads of free storage. http://www.filesavr.com/deal.php FileSavr.com was created as a fresh alternative to sites like MegaUpload and RapidShare. Unlike those sites, we do not reel the user in and make them wait for annoying countdown timers. We do not hide the download link with aggressively placed ads. Our goal is simple, to offer the most basic file hosting and image hosting service so you can share your stuff quickly. As a thank you to the community we are offering free accounts on FileSavr.com to bloggers as well as members of Digg, Stumble, Reddit, Mixx, Del.icio.us. To get your fre…

So I'm rocking a 46" Panasonic Plasma 720P that I bought from Circuit City in probably 2007'ish. Its basically the flip phone of TVs. Finally looking to upgrade. 55", TV (digital over the air) and movies (streaming HD, bluray) only. No gaming. Price point under $500. From everything I can find, something like the TCL S515 seems to be the best bang for the buck. Any cheaper but equivalent options, or better options at the same price point?

I can get a 2500 watt inverter for $100, but really don't think I need that beast in my truck just to power a few hard drives and computers. I can get a 500watt inverter for $35 but it might have a lighter adapter instead of terminals. Can I cut the wire to a lighter adapter and directly connect it to a battery terminal?

I am looking for some music editing software on the net for free. Programs like Audacity are wonderful. I was wondering were there any other ones that might have more effects. Also I am looking for music compression software. I had Blaze Media Pro.... but that was only for a trial version. I like making my own ringtones but I need the compression software so I can use them on my Phone. Thanks in Advance ~MadroX

I have been wanting to buy a new desktop for a while now. I am not a gamer. Other than internet browsing I use numerous photo editing software packages including CS5. 1TB of internal memory is a must. I already have a monitor that I am happy with. I would like to stay under $500. I have been looking at these two. I'm looking for free software for windows that would help me create a mash up. Something comparable to Garage Band that simply allows me to import music and control their fade in/out time/volume. I have Sony Acid, but it's not with me at school.

I got the first one they put out last year ... was looking at the MB site at some vehicles ( ) and the newest version is Version 8 ... I bet it's a longshot ... but I'm wondering if anyone has the six versions in the middle that I'm missing. Guess this gives me an excuse to check the website more often.
