SoundSplinter

  1. I am becoming more and more convinced that the RL-I 10" driver will be the driver of choice for my new system in my 2003 Dodge Ram Quad Cab. Ive purchased a stealth box that installs under the rear seat providing enclosure space for 2 10"s with .65 cube of airspace per 10". After debating between the Diamond Audio CM3/D3, Resonant Engineering SE and even the Elemental 11Kv.2 I was given the RL-I 10" as another suggestion that seems to be the best choice. I went to the soundsplinter site to order 2 of these subs and was directed to a page stating they were out of stock. Does anyone here know when they will be replenished enough for sale? I have my enclosure, amp, and H…

I just wanted to say thank you for putting out such an amazing little product. I just purchased an April 2k5 built SoundSplinter RL-i 8" subwoofer off of eBay after ripping a hole in the surround of my old fart JL 8w6. Needless to say, I'm definitely a SoundSplinter convert now. The quality of the product, the performance of the product, and the value of the product blow away anything I've ever experience in the 8" sub arena. Thank you again for such a wonderful line of products. Chances are, I'll be purchasing a couple revised RL-i 8" subs directly from you once they come out. It's about time to add some much needed quality to my home theater setup.

I just recently purchased 4 RLP 15's. This is my first SoundSplinter purchase. I bought the dual 4 ohm version. I have a enclosure built that is 13.14 cubic feet NET volume. All 4 subs share the same 13.14 cubic foot chamber. The port is 6x 24 with a length of 18" tuning it to roughly 31.5 hz. These will be fed by a hifonics colossus. My options are to give each sub 750 watts each or 600 watts each. With each sub seeing 3.2 feet will I be over powering them?? Any suggestions would be helpful. I can easily slug the box if needed. Also, any thoughts on all 4 subs all sharing the same air space? This is for a LSQ daily driver with a emphasis on lower octaves. "I mainly listen…

Sunday I am building a Quasi-Eighth Order Series Tuned Bandpass :-D. This should be quite interesting. Its designs up to a nasty looking box!! I am slamming 148.3s right now with the standard ported box. My hopes are to get a solid 150 out of the pair AND gain SQ, which supposedly this baby should do! *still wonders where his RL-s is :-D*

going to get a new car soon, and i was thinking of going IB with the RL-p. having the extra trunk space would be nice but i'm not sure if the RLp will perform nicely in an IB configuration. right now i have the bad boy in a 2.0 net sealed box, pushed with 1k watts from an arc amp. so how well will the RLp work IB? thanks in advance for any feedback!

my nine.1 just isnt doing it for me anymore. i want to put 1kw on each of my rl-p's daily. they'll handle it right, in the sealed box i have? im not sure what type of amp to get though. new or used i dont care. want to spent 350-600 but 6 is pushing it. basically if you buy an amp that does 2kw rms, you're only going to get like 1800w daily for music with peaks and chit right? so that you aren't peaking into clipping? its going to be next to a diamond d5 600.2, so it would be nice to have it look clean too any suggestions? these are d4 woofers so i need something 1 ohm stable.

So I finally got the courage to buy some quality speakers (my first REAL setup to me). Mike was extremely quick and helpful, and today I got a nice surprise in the form of 2 12" RL-p's waiting for me. I was slacking, honestly didn't think the subs would come in already, so me and a friend put together a box for it today. Right now its sealed with individual chambers for each sub. 1.92 cubes before displacement and 1.74 cubes after. Would it be worth it to port this? If I port it then I MIGHT be able to get 1.5cubes for each sub, but maybe less. Right now I'll be running each sub at 400watts RMS each, how will it perform in the current sealed setup? I really wish I had bui…

Well, I've been thinking that my RL-p 15s are underpowered. I have them down at 1 ohm on a Planet Audio 2250d that has been tested to do ~1600 rms. I have heard of people throwing 1000 - 1200 per Rl-p. I most definatley have the room to go mechanically, I just wonder if I dump 2k+ at the pair....will I run into some seriously limiting thermal problems? Box is 5.5 NET....is it just a box issue as to why my excursion isn't a ton? It gets loud...but I think there is even more bottled inside these puckers.

ookay i was givin this some thought.... if mike is able to special order a blank cone to sign for me, should i have 1 rlp, 2 cubes ported to 32hz w/800w goin into it, or have a dual RLp 1-1.2kw/piece at 1cube sealed (prolly with some pollyfill) im gonna use the same box no matter what: IMO the dual RL-ps would look way hotter, but would there be THAT much acoustical difference? mike said they would be similar, what do you think? the dual setup also gives me an excuse to run an AX2000

I need subwoofer witch has more than good sound, tight, musically, not just same sound putting out. So i need a HIFI subwoofer I were looking 80litres sealed box with Linkwitz Transform circuit and Linkwitz Riley 24db/okt lowpass filter. -6db point to 15hz. My amplifier works better at 4ohms so 15d2 could be better than 15d4? I got 2x1200w/4ohms or 2x 650w/8ohms. I only use channel A on my amplifier, so i nees 4 ohms to channel A. e: Is that ok? I just want good sound, soundpressure level doesn't matter, 100db is enough for me. On the attachment is my old subwoofer parameters. re 3,656 and bl 22 on my installation.

I got a job at an audio shop :-D. When I get the RL-s in my hands, OH BOY. I basically can do whatever I want with it here. Power is easy to get, and I can slap out boxes like no one's business. Sweet!! Oh the job, I'm starting at minimum wage and after I get the hang of it I'll be on commision. 6.15 an hour, 3% of my sales, 50% of my installation fees. Even cooler I make my own install fees. Say run some new RCAs for a guy. I charge 25 bucks, I make 12.50 :-D. Cool ass shist.

so i installed my rl-p i.b. again over the weekend, but this time i sealed the rear of the car completely, expanding foam, mdf, rammat etc.(fold down seats) well the sound is amazing and doesnt deteriorate as volume goes up (like it used to before i sealed her up proper) ..my question is this, i experienced a little boominess with my rl-p in a bigger sealed box (1.8 maybe 1.9 before disp)but there is absolutely no boom with the i.b.arrangement? i wonder if the trunk was the reason for the resonance / boom rather than the sub itself? because a sub in a box in a trunk is actually a sub in a box..in another box? i.b. has to be the only way to go if a car has a trunk?.....tho…

Should I go down to 5.5 again, but get tuning to 32hz and ~90in^2 port area?? 5.5 NET 70in^2 @ 36hz currently. Wanting more from 30 - 50hz WHAT TO DO...blah ??

well i've gotten used to the sealed box, wanting a little more output so i think im going to tackle a ported box. i have some generic plans, another person from another forum is building this box for his solobarics. the outer dimensions would be basically the same, but i'm not sure about the port. i think i want it to fire upwards. heres the link to the plans. also, i've never built a ported box, could someone explain to me why its in square inches? thats the surface area of the inside of the port right? i would like to tune the box to around 30 hz, no higher than 32, any suggestions for the port? http://thirdgen.org/techbb2/showthread.php...threadid=327887 scroll down …

Im looking to put a pair of sl-i10 in my dodge quad cab. The box will be fitting underneath the seat with dual .57 cu. ft. chambers. I need to know if this is enough airspace to run these, and also how much power to run to them. I am looking at either a KX 850.2, or maybe a KX1200.1 or something to that sort. Also, i shoud use polyfill in the box...right?

with 300 watts went to a small audio meet in here in town, and many people had their stuff metered. i figured what the hell, so i borrowed a friend's amp (i STILL don't have my main amp yet...but that's for another thread). his amp puts out 300 @ 2 ohms. the termlab was used, and was placed in the passenger side kick panel. i hit 137 dB... guess that doesn't seem TOO bad considering the sub is in a 2.0 sealed, and in the trunk....with only 300 going to it....

  22. A nice feature of the Soundsplinter drivers is the aluminum cone for its heat dissipation capability. I've never quite understood why all the supposed power people feed their drivers in sealed, insulated boxes doesn't cause them to burst into flames. Well, paper cone drivers, anyway. Has anyone ever checked how warm the cones get? Thanks
