I finally took the plunge and ordered a pair of RL-i10's to replace my single 12" Polk SR124. I'm designing the box for a false floor with the 2 10's inline next to each other. How much space should i leave under the woofer. The mounting depth says 5.55". Would 6" from the face of the box to the back(inside) be sufficient? What is the minium you would recommend? I will be throwing a max of 400 watts at each sub in a sealed enclosure of .65 cubic feet net. Is a 3/4 thick enclosure really necessary with this small of an enclosure? Or can I get away with 5/8 or 1/2"?

Hi guyz, Received my subs in good shape today. What's in the box??? Very well packed, solid second box - Thankx Mike Stickers came with the subs. Sure those aren't Soundsplinter subs but I'm still willing to use it. Nice logo, thought that it would be bigger. Since it is smaller, I'm even happier. Sorry for the pics, taken with phone Those things are heavy craps... Hope my box doesn't fall apart lol I'm having my cousin build the box for me while I'm flying to Japan. I'm so excited to listen to those little buggers. 650rms @ 4ohm from an Audison LRx3.1k --going--> 2xEpic DVC4 in around 0.8cuft sealed. This will be the first Audiopulse setup in Tahiti - Frenc…

At long last, the RL-i8 is slowly but surely making its way through production Big performance in a "little" package, with the improved features we had been hoping for. Among the key differences to note: Improved Suspension for Greater Overall Efficiency New Basket featuring slightly Smaller Mounting Depth Requirement Lower Moving Mass & Lower Inductance Lower Fs, Lower Qts, & slightly Higher Xmax Thiele-Small Parameters: Dual 4 Ohm Qts = 0.280 Qes = 0.316 Qms = 2.515 Fs = 28.967 Hz Re = 7.4 Ohms DCR Ls = 2.961 mH Vas = 21.98 L Mms = 77.97 g Cms = 387.1u m/N Bl = 18.24 T*m Sd = 0.0201 m^2 Xmax = 18.3 mm Sensitivity = 84.11 dB @ 1W Single 4 Ohm Qts - 0.217 Qe…

After a year of negociations and a few months of pedal to the metal design and fabrication - the long awaited Linear Motor Technology from TC Sounds has be- come a production reality! I am very pleased to announce that SoundSplinter is the first public distributor to carry this exciting new technology, and that these drivers are impressive to say the least! Featuring a massive custom-tooled linear voicecoil, these drivers come at you with an RMS rating of 1000 watts, and should comfortably handle 2000 watts in skilled hands. This driver is designed for the most extreme and discerning of audio enthusiasts. If you don't have at least 800 watts to play with, consi…

Hello everyone! Finally snapped some shots of our RL-i8 prototype driver. The finished product will carry a small centered logo. This driver will be one of the beefiest "little" eights out there, optimized for tiny enclosures driven with 175-500wrms. As we get closer to the final launch date for this 8 incher, more information will become available.. but for now, without further ado, the new RL-i series 8" driver from SoundSplinter  .. B)

I've always had 12s sealed. One of my favorite setups I had believe it or not was my old JL Audio W3D4 12s sealed with 500 watts. IMO they got plenty loud for the power and souded good to boot. How would a pair of the RL-i 10s compare vented with 600 watts?

ok so i have my car finished and very happy with it, but now i have an rl-p 12 sitting on a shelf doing nothing. my car is a toyota previa (big socca mom type ride) and my sub amp is an orion2500d) just for fun i want to build another box for when i just want to get stupid (my daily driver box is 2 x prototype soundsplinter 8s sealed) space is almost not an issue, i could probably get 4 x 4 x 4 feet (32 cubic feet?)in there easy. so whats a good box to build just for pure stupid bass factor when i want to go for a cruise with my bros? what dimensions and port area would be good. any ideas....stupid ideas

Someone on another forum is building me a box for 90 shipped and I was wondering if the specs he gave me will be alright? Thanks!! 38" width and 16" height so that your box fits flush with the sides and top of your trunk... The depth comes out to 17"... which makes your net volume 3 cubic feet after driver and port displacements. your port is 3" wide, 14.4" high (making port area 43.5") and 43" long (this is VERY long but makes your tuning 28, which will sound amazing)

Right now I have, one Rl-p running 1000 watts, and even though it hits really nice, I think I am missing something, the sq is nice, but I think is still a little weak as far as lows go. People from outside the car dont even know the sub is nice. Dont get me wrong, I dont want to show off, but I want to know if is normal of the Rl-p. I have a sealed box, 1.25cf. Also I would like to know if I would see a big difference by adding another 12, Would it be night and day difference? What do you guys suggest to run if I want lows, is better to run a ported box if I have 2 subs, and if yes what size should it be?

Well the topic pretty much sums it up. After having (2) RL-P 12" in a car for several years I have decided to put the subs inside the house. This frees up the space restrictions, and I have been enticed to build a ported box. So with all the experience most of you guys have on this board, I would appreciate some feedback or advice on building a ported box. Here is some info about what i got/need -I listen to mainly rap/R&B -Would like a strong balance between Home Theatre Use and Music listening -I will be using a EP2500 Amplifier (This gives me 500 watts if I run it at 8 ohms or 1200 watts if i choose to run it at 2 ohm) I would prefer to run it off 8 ohms and r…

Hey guys, I don't like my current box so i'm thinking about making another one. My current one is about 2.6ft^3 @ ~32, and the one I want to make is 2ft^3 @ 29 ^^ Thats the one I'd be building. From the free box plans at Caraudio.com . Would it be worth enough of my time to make a new box? The one I have is too big I think.

Would a Hifonics BX1205D be good for a pair of Rl-i8's. I think theyll get about 500 watts each at 1 ohm because theyre overrated. Tell me what you think of this combo or other amp choices?

I got a job at an audio shop :-D. When I get the RL-s in my hands, OH BOY. I basically can do whatever I want with it here. Power is easy to get, and I can slap out boxes like no one's business. Sweet!! Oh the job, I'm starting at minimum wage and after I get the hang of it I'll be on commision. 6.15 an hour, 3% of my sales, 50% of my installation fees. Even cooler I make my own install fees. Say run some new RCAs for a guy. I charge 25 bucks, I make 12.50 :-D. Cool ass shist.

I got my RL-p12 to day. Going to put it in this weekend. All I have to say right now is that is one heavy sub. I am going to put it in the same box my 12 SE is in 2feet @ 32hz and see how she sounds. I will build a new box in the future. I have a PG X600.1 to push it. Thats it for now I will tell every one how I like it and I will compare it to the SE12. Same amp same box so all will be equal. i went to my local alpine dealership to get my RL-p15 metered in my '93 Explorer and I managed to get 141.5dbs. my box is 2.5ft^3 @34Hz powered by a JL 1800d amp. I was being cautious though with my amp 1/2 power and the gains on the deck conservative. ive only had the sub for about month so i didnt want to risk something going wrong. the suprise was when i hooked up a single audiobahn AW1206T afterwards and hit a 138.6. it was in a 2.3 ft^3 @36Hz. i thought that was pretty decent for a $120ish sub. absolutely no competition in SQ though. RL-ps are something else. when i play System of a Down's "BYOB", it hit every single drum note. i'll try and post some pics of the se…

I got my 12" RLP in a 2.0 cu ft ported box, tuned to 29hz and powered by a RF t5002. This setup replaced my 2 12" JLw4 in a 2.5 cu ft sealed box that was powered by an old kicker ZR240 amp. On certain songs, it has the same "tight" bass I got in my sealed box and on other songs it just seems like the bass grew some balls. This setup is louder and has more visceral impact than my old JL setup. I'm really enjoying it. Only thing better is perhaps a 15" RLP in my trunk, but if went that route, I wouldn't have any space left in my trunk. A great product with even better customer service. Edit: James, a local box builder made this enclosure for me.

Thanks Mike for all the help. I got one thing to say about Mike and Soundsplinter BAD ASS service and BAD ASS little (beefy) 8's. I got my subs delivered in one frickin day! Told Mike I wanted two on Monday night, sent him the money on Tuesday night, order confirmed and sent out Wednesday and Thursday I come home from work and they are on my porch. Now that is top notch.

too lazy to paint or carpet the box, but supa_c spraypainted the port haha. All in all it came out decent...had a couple air leaks in the face and i was too lazy to take the subs back out and seal from the inside so I glued some spots from the exterior...then i realized i should have just added a couple extra screws on top lol. 3.0 ft^3 net ~34hz. and i get to say i met mike from SS! who else can say that? i wanted the logoless + sig but he was out of the logoless, but the anodized cones w/ logos were my 2nd choice. i haven't had extensive playing time with these babies yet, but they are quite the impressive drivers. i've only listened to rap and stuff like that so …
