US AMPS

  1. Started by benz280se,

i was just wondering can the old 1999 us amps 400 be modified to do 1200 @1ohm bridged instead of its factory setting of 1200@2ohm bridged? just curious. i have read about people having amps modified and was wondering about this one. thanks for any info.

I just got one of these not too long ago and finally hooked it up to my VLX-400 and my USA-150. Now my question is the setting of the "gain" on the crossover. From what I understand in the 2000 manual, that knob controls input voltage to the the amp from 0-9 volts. I have it at 3/4 on every channel. I didn't have time for long term testing and nothing sounded distorted or anything. I just want to make sure I'm not going to damage my speakers by having it at that point. So my question is, it it actually a gain knob, or does it act like a line driver and just increase the voltage while turning it up (obviously unlike a line driver, it is not adding voltage to the 8 vo…

OK I have a old USA-3000 it still works however there are four burned up resistors right by the power supply they are M106 M107 M116 and M117 they are light blue and have five lines on them Red Gold Green Purple and Yellow I looked at the amp guts site and every amp that us amps ever made while they were in Florida had this resistor in them. Does anyone know why they are blown and if I can just replace them and not have to replace something else as well? also does anyone know what value these resistors are so I can buy new ones?

Hey guys what are the real Dimensions ofthe 2007 US Amps Merlin Series? I'm interested in the MD-3D and the MD-21 but since i'm tight on space i wanna know the real Dimensions before i buy. Here on SSA I've seen that the MD-21 WxHxD is 7.9 x 2.5 x 8.75, on www.woofersetc.com I've seen it the same, but on their website it is WxHxD is 10.5 x 2.5 x 10.75.(now what?) The MD-3D here on SSA it is ?? x 2.5 x 8.75 WxHxD the W is unknow( wich in my case it's very important), on WoofersEtc.com it is WxHxD: 13.8 x 2.5 x 8.75 and on their WebSite it is WxHxD: 21.75 x 2.5 x 10.5, now I'm very confused and i realy need to know the real dimension mainly the W(L) thus how long they are…

  9. To get the best sound what is the difference of gain from 15 HZ to 40Hz. Putting the gains clockwise would be the best choice right, closer towards 40 hz. Do to the type of of install I have it is very difficult to work on my gains. My space is limited to work with.

I just recently got a US Amps VLX-200 and I'm working on a USA-150. I really liked these old amps from the first time I saw a USA-400. What I wanted to know was, is there anywhere I can get information on these amps (like a website). Also how hard are these on electrical systems? I'm going to be running two amps and a XM-6 Crossover and I'm concerned with my setup. I have the 3 big in 1/0, 140 amp alt. and a really good wet cell. I didn't really dimm @ full volume with a Sundown 1500D and a small four channel, but the VLX is huge. Well LMK guys.

Well, it was just me and Mr. Casey Walsh I thought it was a fun little time. Walked through the factory, there wasnt much production actually, just one guy in the back soldering, and dirk in his lab workin it because the CES stuff was set up in the work room. Ill have pix later on tonight but ill post what i thought was the most informative part of the tour, the interview with JR. This is just the section of the Q&A in which people from the forums asked questions. We talked for a good hour afterwards about different things usamps has been designing, most notably their venture into home audio But that is for another time. the vids might take some time to load, ki…

Just as the title states... Who wins in terms of SQ? In my eyes, the prices are comparable, and I've heard good about both. I'm leaning towards going with the USamps XT series over the GTO's... One major issue that shouldn't be so major is the looks... The GTO's a gawdy, and the XT's are plain & simple. Any thoughts or input on the comparison?

hi, i am going to be getting a XT-1600.4 in a month or so and i am going to be putting it in a false floor and i notice that it has fins and i am wondering are they for looks or do they serve as the heat sink like jl's. because i need to know where to focus the fans on since it will have pexiglass over it but i will try to make the flase floor as breathable as possable. and does it make 180 at 2 ohm right. and also i saw that the input goes up to 6 volt but i was planing on using a line driver because i dont want to spend alot of getting longer rca's/ and most line drivers arre atleast 8 volts
