Car Audio Classifieds -- Part I of this project from April 2010. Continued from last year... since we proved the prior box worked so well even made from super low grade plywood we finally got around to making one from genuine Russian 13-ply birch plywood. Derrick was up for some testing yesterday and was able to stay up here to work on this box for me today -- on to the pictures : * Back wall cut -- have some weight on the port to hold the glue down for a bit as it will be permanently attached from the inside. * High strength 3M Epoxy glue to hold it in. -

Greetings, gents. I have an interesting goal where failure is not an option. Sparing details, a 'friend' of mine has a pair of DC level 3 10's being driven off a 3500 watt mono block, clamped around 2200. It hit 144 @ 29 hz and this is a rear-firing ported box in a trailblazer. This dude is a tool. Will not shut up about his setup and thinks he's unbeatable. Well again, sparing more details, I want to one-up his ass with 4 SA8's. Not only louder, but I want it to go lower. Here's what I'm working with: 1996 Nissan Altima. The back seat is out and I hope to have the 4 SA8's sealed against the opening for maybe a 4th order? Or ported with just the subs blowin… -

I am going to start putting corner pieces in my box as well as adding resin. I will be tracking my gains from these things here. I will do each corner with a 45 degree piece first (ripped 4x4 lumber). I will also try pieces that are cut into an arc (same 4x4 but with an arc cut) to see which is louder. This will be done one corner at a time. This may take a while but I am going to start today. Base-Line score from the end of my dampener log : 155.2 dB @ 48 Hz --- First piece in place - screwed in with tape along the top as that edge was rough: This resulted in a GAIN : --- I tested 49 Hz as well to make sure my frequency did not change - I metered 155.2 dB @ 49 Hz. I al… -

I am not planning an 8" for this line any time soon... but I am planning 10s, 12s, and 15s... also... I do not have an ETA just yet, first prototypes are on the way then testing will be in order for a while to make sure the design suits all of my requirements. Just though I would offer a sneak peak of the 15" model. Initial MSRP also posted... may be subject to small changes based on tweaks needed. I AM planning to use spring loaded push terminals on production... I don't like the spade connectors. Some T/S Specs measured on the Klippel machine at the factory... I will measure them myself as well once my prototypes arrive. 10" S4 Coil MSRP: $130 Re: 3.86 ohms Fs: 31.8 Hz… -

My son and I are building an enclosure for a single SA-8 for a school project (much cooler than a birdhouse!) I've built several enclosures growing up, mostly either a medium size sealed or a large ported. I've never been that concerned about the math, just did my best and if it sounded bad just build another. Now that I'm older, I care more lol. Anyway, down to the nitty gritty. Looking at either a slot port box or an external aero port in around a .6-.8 net enclosure. I've looked at several calculators and the such, but looking for real world to double check before we start putting something together. For a slotted box, it comes out to a .8 net with a vent dimension … -

I've been busy... if you cannot tell by all the new product / new prototype threads the last two days. I've been quietly doing testing on some E line prototypes for a bit... and based on what I've learned, tested, etc this is what I've come up with for these guys. Rating will be 300-400 RMS pending a bit more testing on the end product. I've tested some other very good prototypes as well but I feel like these best represent a "Sundown Woofer" as in what our customers expect to get from us. These just finished up at our factory so I should have them in a week or two for some videos and whatnot. IMO these are a little different than what you are used to seeing from an entry… -

Been working on this guy for a while now... what I hope to be final prototypes just arrived a few days back. Based on our testing I am going with a 750 RMS rating on these. I won't say people will not be able to run more... but that is our official rating. They will cost $210 from an authorized dealer. Production models will, of course, have a gasket and magnet boot. ----- * Compared with SA-8 v.2 * Compared with SA-8 v.2 * Compared with X-6.5SW * Compared with X-6.5SW -

... Neo-8 -- here is the other design I'm trying... more traditional over-hung design. Will be testing head to head with the XBL^2 unit when it is ready. Sneak peak as this prototype has been fully assembled at the factory : I would use a different frame if this were to be produced as the spider on this sample is not going to handle the throw I want. -

I recently just got a SA-12 D2 in a 1 cube sealed box running off an AQ1200d at 1 ohm. I wanna get a ported box and was wondering what size and tuning I should go with if I mainly listen to rap, going for more spl, and is good with the power level I'm using. I originally thought to go with 1.5 cubes w/ 35 hz tuning. Does that sound about right or should I go with something else? -

I was driving home from my girls house listening to some of decafs songs I just downloaded and all a sudden my slave amp turned off, I reset my head unit seeing if it was some freak accident and it'd turn back on, but it didn't, so I continued driving home with my head unit off, with it being so late I didn't have the energy to do a lot of trouble shooting. Both amps are grounded in the same spot and share the same remote wire. I checked both 300 amp fuses and they didn't look blown, the remote wire didn't come loose and fall out. What do I need to do to fix this problem? Thanks, Dom -

				* SAE-800D, SAE-50.4, SAE-1200D * SAE-800D, SAE-50.4, SAE-1200D, SAX-1200D * SAE-1200D * SAE-50.4 * SAE-800D * 800D / 1200D * SAE-50.4 ----- The 800D did well and exceeding ratings but wasn't really THAT much stronger than the 500D -- so I likely will not end up making it. The 500D will be named 600D based on the testing results from it (over 700 after impedance rise). The SAE-1200D did very well, though, and is pretty much on par with the SAX-1200D in terms of power but not quite as small in size. So far what I have pricing worked out is like this : SAE-600D -- $200 MAP SAE-1200D -- $285 MAP SAE-50.4 -- $155 MAP Pricing from an authorized dealer. Testing on the amp… -

I wanted to get a post going so everyone could get an idea of what I am working with. The main reason is because in Feb-Mar I will be doing some test on the SAZ-3000ds. I will be updating this thread as often as I can do any work and/or testing on the van. To start it is a 1993 Dodge Caravan, and I run StreeMax 1-2 in DB Drag. I bought it from Rooney Bianco of Team 420 in July of last season. Here it is the day I picked it up: A few specifics, I picked it up in Connecticuit at a show. When I picked it up it had the following: (2) MA 4000d (2)T3 tsns 18" old pioneer deck(2volt output) Kinetik 2400 one run of 0 ga At the show I hit a 154.7 and took first place. -

I ran into wat i think is a big problem today. here is wat my system consists of: one 15" audiopulse sub on a Sundown 3000D, and an Alpine PDX-5 with goldwood speakers I was drivin down the road, took a sharp turn and all the sudden my sub made a very loud thump sound and then the amp shut off. So i turned everythin off until i got where i was goin and checked it out. I popped the trunk to check my circuit breaker and it was still closed. then i noticed one of the batteries in my trunk had moved. What im pretty sure happened was when i took the turn, the batt tilted and the terminal on the negative post hit both the pos and neg bolts attatching my speaker wire to the sub … -

Well I was part of the pre-order and been having all my equipment for a while. I installed it about two months ago and I'm just getting a chance to post some pictures. I am not completely satisfied with the box. I wanted to get something made quickly so the woofers weren't just sitting around. I had a local box builder build it and he built it to fit under the seat. I told him I want the optimal box so if I needed I could raise the seat but I guess he figured he would work with what I already had. My buddy has two of these on the same set-up and his box is almost twice as loud. My box size is .667 cu ft w/o the woofer displacement (i didn't know it) with a port size of 1.… -

The new NS v.3 woofers will have a HUGE number of options. 1) The motor supports two sleeves to configure it's gap size / overall performance. • POLE SLEEVES (these are permanent; only selected when built) : * Copper sleeve – for low inductance / low distortion * Steel sleeve – for higher BL / higher SPL – STOCK SETUP • OUTER GAP SLEEVE (these can be swapped when re-coning the driver) : * 83mm OD – Z v.2 style coils; lowers mass / lowest inductance – for high frequency burps. My next round of Z v.2 coils will have a longer former for use on the new platforms. * 85.2mm OD – Standard coil; VERY long 4-layer flat coil – maximum linear travel / good mix of SPL and day-… -

Prototype motor paired with new 12" frame, 9.25" spider (what we use on Z v.3 18s now), and the new cone / surround. I literally JUST finished it so I cannot play it until tomorrow. That being said... it won't QUITE be able to use ALL of the clearance we have -- and that is great -- should be INCREDIBLY rugged and hard to damage  For those not current on all of these parts -- they are ALL prototype parts. They are not in production yet. Production parts will start appearing 1Q 2013. -
