Sundown SD-3 Line : In the Works ----- Thanks to the success of the SD-2 8" model I started developing the SD-3 line; this will replace all SD-2 models in 8/10/12" sizes (there is no 15 in this series). The SD-3 motor and coil design will become under-hung like the 8" model on the bigger 10 and 12" models -- I am also further optimizing the parameters of all models for sealed enclosures... even the 8" model will be tweaked a bit more. They have the same topology as the 8" -- a 1" top plate and 1/2" long coil -- but the 10/12 design uses a 2.5" diameter coil compared to the 2" on the eight. As far as release date... by the time prototype is done and production is done …

* 2 3/16" mounting depth - 2.1875" * Compact neo cup motor * Shallow paper cone with inverted rubber surround * Very compact basket ----- This driver has a full 8mm one-way linear excursion in a 2 3/16" deep package. Still in prototype phase... may add even more extensive shorting rings to the motor for production, pending listening tests in a vehicle. Not a fancy "looking" driver - all business in the shallowest package possible. Un-matched for linear excursion in this depth as far as I am aware. Oh yah - no ETA here guys, still in testing phases - and no, I don't have any prototypes to sell and I am not sending this one around

Today we had a gathering in hawaii with some other audiophiles.. some veterans and some new... I asked one of my fellow Sundown users to come down and demo the amp (a sundwon-3000D on a fully loaded 18" BTL)... No chit man his system was the biggest draw... everyone was gathered around his truck and wanted to just stick their head by the window.... Ride Truck x-treme (I think didn't really notice) 18" fully loaded BTL Sundown saz-3000D Iraggi 260 amp alt Kinetik batteries... The 18 BTL was a freaking monster and the sundown 3000D is a freaking BEAST........ With the windows fully down on both sides, we were doing hair tricks with GUYS LOL.... Well I had all of my equipment just sitting at my house so I asked my buddy Cooper if I could put it in his explorer for our competition on saturday since it won't fit in my Grand AM. The whole system was put in starting at 11:00 PM friday, and this is what we got. Three Memphis Mojo 15's Three Sundown SAZ 1500D's Box 12ft^3 @ ~ 31hz With no testing we did a 149.8 TL and took 3rd place Here are some vids Mojo Flex Mojo Excursion In the second vid. the mojo in the middle broke off some of its screws right in the begining of the vid, so no it is not box flex

Well at the last comp. at Sound Check we decided to through all of my equipment in my buddy Coopers explorer because I have a little Pontiac Grand AM. Before we took everything out of his explorer we had got it to a 150.6 @ 35hz with 3 sundown SAZ-1500d's and 3 15" mojos. Well it was my turn to compete so we pute 1 12" SI Mag in my car with 1 sundown 1500d and went to the comp at Buds to see what I could do. I was in class 1B which is 1-160 sq in of cone area and 501 watts and up. I took first place with a 144.7 (which was really funny cause the JL rep. was calling my amp a mut and I was the second loudest car at the comp next to a van with a wall of 6 15's and 6 1200 wa…

Great customer service. The Distibutor *edit(delivered) the amp of right at my door. Needless to say I am one happy customer. But and a Big BUT there is a black mark on my power terminal ??? I know it is possible during the connection of the amp while testing but is this something I should be worried about? I will install Friday and if it works then I suppose i would be happy yet again, but im just worried if it may cause problems down the line.? is this something to be concerned about?

Well, my TL finally came back so put the truck on the meter... my head hurts even with ear plugs AND hearing protective head phones on. First go @ the TL after finding the peak of 48 hz: Legal mic position too: Take a look at my collection of Powermaster D3100s, seven at this time: Used to power four SAZ-3000Ds: Dual Powermaster alternators for the win: While taking that last pic I realized that I forgot to tighten the ground on the top alternator... so I did so and run the truck again: ---- Not too bad! Now... it's time to get tweaking

Just a taste. Building this truck to compete in IASCA SQC. Gear list: Eclipse CD7200MKII Sundown 100.4 Sundown 125.2 Sundown 1000D Hybrid Audio Clarus comps. 2- 12" Alumapro Alchemy Processing is still undecided but leaning towards a Zapco DSP6 or Audison BitOne. Next upgrades will be to a Batcap 2000 under the hood and a Batcap Power Pack somewhere near the amps. 2004 Chevy extended cab.

Went from 2 saz 1500s to 4. We pulled a 157.6 at the head. It was good enough for a best of show at our April fools MECA event. Thought I would just share the info. Amps are killer!!!!

Well, my wife entered the truck last Saturday because it looked like it was going to be a small show. Shortly there after the other cars rolled in and although a smallish show we had to go up against 5 other cars. She took home 2nd in sound quality against the likes of Audison, Hertz, Zapco installed cars. We would have been trailing just behind #1 if it wasnt for some gain hiss and a turn off (mechanical) pop....JAKE you need to get this problem handled. (amps in the cabin and it is indeed mechanical noise). Other than that, with 1/2 hour of tuning and a 2nd place finish is prety nice. We are seriously thinking about doing SQi @ West Coast Regionals (my comp car is …

I entered my Passport in a small sound-off at Hooters today. I'm running 4 Elemental Design 13kv2 in a sealed downfire box off 2 sae-1000d strapped at 2 ohms. It only hit a 143.2 with a termlab mic, but considering the flex that a Passport has, and the intense heat out there, I can't complain too much. No one did anything spectacular. I think the highest reading was a 149.3 in a higher class than me. BTW, I have never built a stereo for competition purposes (including this one) and this was my first time to ever enter into a competition, so I was pretty stoked about it.

The tool is done and the very first unit rolled out of the mold yesterday. I will have a sample to play with next week !!! This one is currently patent pending (our 8, 10, 12, and 15 are already patented) -- ETA for full stock will be Jan-Feb of 2015. This frame is ~8.3" tall, supports 6" p-p excursion, and up to a 12" spider (also have 10" and 9.25" landings)... it weighs in at 10-11 lbs (I'll weigh it myself when it gets here). I will finally be comfortable making TEAM 18s at that point. The main bolt pattern is a new, bigger pattern for coils larger than 4" in diameter. For all current designs we have a cast aluminum adapter piece that attaches to the base for a sta…
