Just wondering what the cut out is for the 12" sd-1? I'm not too familiar with making holes for subs so I don't know if there is a pretty much close to standard size or if theres a specific size I need. I was also gonna try to make it with a double baffle to try to have that flush mount look. I would probably need the outside diameter of the speaker also. As I type this I'm in the process of building the box. I'm realizing I'm not that great at cutting wood. Some of the pieces are mm longer or shorter than others. It's too hard to get perfect cuts with no experience in wood working. Honestly I'm not to confident in the box. Should I put maybe silicon or somethin…

  2. Well guys, after getting haggled so bad at the last FX comp, I decided I needed to do something different for this comp. A 140 is not sufficient for 2 12's and 2 1500D's. I had 3 issues I needed to fix... 1. I was running a single run of 4 ga for 2 1500D's...Obviously a HUGE bottleneck on the amps. Now have a run of 1/0 per 1500D. 2. I had a prefab box which we tossed in the Cavi trunk to hold us out for the day...chit box, will have a newly designed box for this one, maybe a version of "CRX style". 3. For some reason the final load on the subs last time was 3.5 ohms (dual 2 subs). We didnt have time to check it, so we put it in a let it go. Discovered that one of th…

Hey guys, I'm new here.....thought I would come ask the experts. Well I recently purchased a barely used 1500D. Previously I ran an mrd-m501 for about 2 years to 2 12" R's, then I swapped it out for the saz, running it at 2 ohms. alls I did was swap the wires. the 1500D worked flawlessly for about 2 weeks, then all of a sudden today it got protection happy. my electrical is stock 105amp alt. stock batt. with 4 gauge wiring. It was fairly hot today, +35*C......so when it kicked into protection the 1st time I pulled over, checked the connections, turned it back on and it worked. the 2nd time it kicked into protect it wouldnt go back on I turned everything off except the a…

The market seems to be apprehensive about adopting a small and efficient SQ speaker, seems that most consumers are interested in putting huge power into woofers these days So... the SD-1 model is being closed out and discontinued due to sluggish sales. They will still carry full warranty as I will hold onto some of them for warranty replacements: http://www.sundownaudio.com/ppsd10.html -- 10" Model Information http://www.sundownaudio.com/ppsd12.html -- 12" Model Information These subs actually perform very well but have really been slow sellers... see some first hand reviews here: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...?showtopic=9883 http://www.soundsolutionsaudio…

I am looking for an amp that is 80-90watts at 8 ohms. Will any of the new amps coming out be able to put this out or am I basically stuck with a 100.4 bridged with gains down?

At this time these are just known as the "X10 and X12" speakers. The photos are of the first prototypes. I am already working on revising the prototypes with several important improvements. These are geared towards "daily beating" and are made to be used as a pair with either an SAE-1000D or SAZ-1500D. Sound quality is good, but output at moderate power levels is the number one goal. * Basket with extremely long clearances. The motor also has enough clearance to travel over 33mm rearward before bottoming out, this is well beyond linear coil travel limits. * Vented pole and vented gap for increased power handling. * The cone is a fiberglass weave with paper composite ba…

so i got this 1500d and i have someone who wants to buy it this weekend, what im trying to decide is will the 3000d at 1 ohm be better on my electrical system than 2 1500s strapped @ 2 ohms. its either sell this 1500 and get a 3000, or get another 1500 and strap. if anyone has ran both and could let me know their opinions i'd appreciate it.

Hooked up the 1500D today after it has been sitting for about 2 months and now it keeps blowing all the car's fuses. Putting it in a late 90's Tahoe which originally had a 1,000watt amp hooked up that ran without any problems. Now after hooking the 1500D we've already been through 2 fuses so far and are unsure on how to fix it. All help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

  15. Ok guys, well im doing an install update on wends in which im adding a kinetik 2400, 1800, replacing some crappy rcas with nice knu krystals, adding a 1/0 negative run between kinetiks, adding more power wire etc, adding 880 prs to replace my crappy alpine, and last adding the second sae-1000D proto for substage. anyways. i want to create an amp rack that provide the proper airflow that the amps need to allow them to cool and breathe. and im tossing around how i will design it. but it will house my 2 sub amps, the 1000's. I want to put the amp rack on the back of my box, that is 40" long, but i want to keep the amp rack to around 32 - 33" so it fits between my trunk braci…

Been working on an install for a guy and finally got to his front stage tonight. AA poly mids & CAL25 tweets running active off a 100.4 I spent about 5 minutes figuring out the dials, etc... and did a "best guess" for initial settings, then played some test tones to dial it in. I was SO close from the start and it only took about 30 minutes to get it all set up and sounding good. VERY nice amp for running active!!! Can't wait to strap the 1500D's to his sub tomorrow...

So... stuff was piling up again. I found more b-stocks, more used 1500Ds are coming back from Team members, and some refurbished amps are popping up here and there as well: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZsundownzQQhtZ-1 B-Stock, Used, and Refurbished amps do come with a warranty but it is reduced compared to a brand new unit from a dealer: Used / B-Stock = 1-year warranty Refurbished = 90-day warranty All amps listed for sale on e-bay are tested thoroughly on my bench here before leaving.

Well I am in love with my audio setup which consists of a 1500, 100.2, fi 18" Q, and CDT special editions up front. I have only burped her a few times around 3/4 volume and have never had any issues. Today I was playing the system about 2/3 and noticed that I started having voltage drop pretty bad but before I never had any electrical issues, my guess here is that the battery is struggling now with the demand (brand new red top). I have all 0 gauge wiring up to a dist. block with 2 foot runs of 4 gauge. I do not have the big 3 done yet and is on my to do list which brings me to my question: What else can I do besides the big three that isnt over the top for this setup? I …
