  2. I am picking up 3 SA8 motors and would like get some baskets and recones for them. I'm wondering what my options are, since I've seen v1 and v1.5. I'll be running these off an saz-1500d in a town car with a 240 amp alt, deka starting battery, deka 9a31 in the trunk, big 3, 1/0 wiring throughout etc... I want to wire these to .66 and want to know how big of a box I should go with and how much port area I need. This will be a daily driver, and will be turned down most of the time. I was thinking 2 cu ft net tuned to 34 with 30-35 sq in of port area. I looked in another thread and the recones were listed as $32 and baskets were $10, let me know if those prices are still goo…

Specs where provided from an old friend whos been doing SPL and bandpasses for a long time, just wanted to see some other sundown people input, maybe sean will poke his head in here. The specs I was given was 5.7cuft 1:1 50sqin of port area 8" long. After the suggested BP design I "tried" to mock one up in sketch up. I probably got this all wrong but here is a picture of it with some area's left out to view the measurements. I shortened the port based on 1 shared wall, the way I got the length of the port of 5.25" is that I calculated the box like a standard ported box with torres calc at 50sqin 8" long, got the resulted tuning, then changed it to 1 shared wall, accountin…

I'll be headed out at 3:30 AM to start my CES / west coast trip. See you guys on the 14th when I get back. All of the rest of the crew will be at work until Tuesday evening; when a few of the other guys will join me from then for the rest of the week. They will be back on the 12th. Some of the crew will be at the shop the entire time, of course, we will not be closed completely.

Can we expect the Nightshade to be similar to a BTL? Meaning they will excel in the same application?

  10. I haven't been able to find a good post detailing the differences and improvements between the V1 and V1.5 SA8. If Jacob or someone else that knows could post up I'd appreciate it. Also is the motor the same on all SA8 v1/v1.5? I've seen two different basket styles. Can they be run together? I'm getting some old SA8 v1 motors and need some info. I've emailed Jacob as well, so if I get info from him I'll post it here.

Box outer dimensions (.75 mdf) - 40" x 13.75" x 8.5" = 1.91 cubes After subs, ports and bracing = 1.65 cubes Box will house four E8's firing up. I have 10' of 2" pvc so I'd like to use it since it's free. Will two 2" ports 8.56" long tuned to 34hz give me good output? Also I have a choice of firing the ports down or to either the driver or passenger side, do not have room to fire up with subs. Give me your thoughts please on this design. Power comes from a Sundown SAE-1200D = 1200 watts @ 1 ohm @ 12.8 volts. Box will be behind the seats, raised off the floor, in a small MR2 with about 30 - 35 cubic feet of interior volume.

I was just wondering I notice a lot of direct sales here on the forum and on alot of other forums with great prices. But my question is does this not cut the throat of the dealers by selling direct to consumers and even the ones who go to a retailer to purchase it just seems to be taking money out of the dealers pockets. There is nothing wrong with selling direct but I would just think you are either a direct online manufacturer of a dealer based company?

I hope this isn't a stupid question. A friend of mine has the SAE-1000D and wants to run it at 2 ohms to power his pair of JL Audio W3v3 13.5s with 600 watts until he has the money to get the electrical upgrades he needs for his car. He bought the amp so he could expand his system when ready. Right now he has a Batcap 800. He eventually wants to get a bigger alternator and 2 good drycell batteries in place of the Batcap and a 2nd SAE-1000D and 2 Icon 15s, but for the time being just wants to use his JLs. How should he treat his gain for the JLs being the amp is going to be ran at 2ohms rather than the amps max at 1ohms?

  22. I am looking for some cool designs with Sundown Audio logo for a t-shirt. I've seen one before, it was with some amp guts in the back ground and the logo in the foreground. If someone can post that in good quality so I can give it for a print out, it will be great. Also looking for other ideas. I am going to make a white tee, so something that will look good in white back ground... but, just post whatever you got.

I see that the 1500D have 2 sets of speaker outputs. So the easiest way is to get dual 2 ohm, hook it up in parallel, then the internal are bridge for a final 1 ohm load. What if I were to go with dual 1 ohm (1 sub) wire it in series = 2 ohm, then bridge the connection to the amp, will i get a final load of 1 ohm? I can't tell from the manual if the external outputs are bridgeable. Please confirm. Thanks!
