Sundown Audio

  1. Started by Silverbane,

Well gents, I have accepted the task of getting the 'Rides' section of Sundown Audio website back up and keep it relativly updated. Glad to be 'partially on-board' the team here... . Anyways, in order to make a successful 'Rides' section, I need some rides to feature. Basically I am looking for anyone to up some pics and descriptions for us to throw up on SundownAudio.com. Also if you have ideas or suggestions for the rides section, I would very much like to hear your input. Oh, and my name is Brad (SilverBane here on forums) and you can contact me at [email protected] I hope to get some mail soon!!!

Fully tested down to 1/2 ohm each. Both were mounted and used and show a few signs of use on the mounting feet and near the speaker connections. Both come with remotes but no manuals, you can download the manual here: http://www.sundownaudio.com/products/SAX-1...manual_0607.pdf The white dot in the picture is from the flash and is not a mark on the amp. $475 shipped each or $900 shipped for both. They come with the full warranty from date of purchase.

As of March 31st, 2007 the "Z" series amplifiers will no longer carry 0.5 ohm warranty coverage. You can read a more complete explanation as to why this came about here: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...?showtopic=7556 Old SAZ-1500D 1/2 ohm warranty coverage thread for amps sold before March 31st: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...?showtopic=7151

  6. Started by sundownz,

Based on the amount of support required for people who have failed to do their research and install amps properly I may be pulling 0.5 ohm warranty coverage from future "Z" series Class-D amplifier sales. Plenty of information is posted on the forum but I continually get support questions about sub-1 ohm operation. It turns out that 90% of the time it is a gain knob set too high, insufficient voltage, or a load that is incredibly low beyond 0.5 ohms due to wiring errors. Have there been any failures? Not any more than I would expect from just factory defects and user error. I've had one come back that was actually toasted beyond recognition... but that user had an issue i…

Do you guys offer a custom finish that won't sacrifice thermal dissipation capabilities? In particular, I'm looking for blue.

http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...?showtopic=7406 It is a sticky post up top... updated today with pictures on how to strap the amps. I've had several problems lately with customers who has not hooked up the amps correctly when strapped due to confusion as to what the manual is saying. Hopefully these photos will answer your questions.

Running a strapped pair of Sundown 1500d's at 2ohm daily, and .5 for comps. Kinetik 1400 up front, two 1800's in the back. Or, to the point, will an excessive amperage 200a be ok?

  15. I'm curious to see what kind of power these guys put out. I know they're hella underrated so I'm curious what kind of power they ACTUALLY do? 200rms per channel? or closer to 150? I'd love to have 150-200 a side running some DD 6.5" LTs would get retarded loud imo, thanks, Tom

Truck/SUV 0-30 - We did a 146.4 dB. Good enough for first place for the day. Truck is unmodified factory electrical and no sound deadening. 1 SAZ-1500D on 2 SI Mags D2 12's wired to .5 ohms in a 5cu ft box; did a good amount of work to get the port just right. Looks like the key frequency was 48 hz.

  22. Hey, jacob or whoeevr is helping me out here, i need some input on the voltage im looking for on my dmm to acheive the full rms. I need some clarification on if i did the calculations right. 1st my sub amp, i running it at 1 ohm load to get the rated 1000 rms. so i would do sqrt(1000*1) = 31.6? 2nd (part i don't get) when i run my 100.4 bridged to 2 channels at 325 rms @ 4 ohm load, how do i do the equation? is it sqrt(325*4) or sqrt(650*4)? so would it be 36 volts, or 51 volts? I found it really outrageously high for the 100.4 to have a 51 volt supply when bridged, so i hope i right at guessing its 36 volts per channel bridged correct? Also, would you recommend runnin…

My SAZ-1500D's have been just sitting waiting for my subs to come so I haven't really looked them over but I installed my SAX-100.2 today for some temporary bass. I noticed you used screw terminals. Any reason for this? Any hookup where I could get allen terminals? Screw terminals just seem cheap to me and nice allen ones look clean. Nitpicking.

Well, I noticed the 1st victim thread, so I figured I'd post up the 2nd victim of the strapped Sundowns here. Sub is a Mmats Juggernaut motor that was reconed by RE. It had about 10 burps on it, and 30 seconds on music, although it wasn't happy before the 30 seconds on music run. It was already rattling, but I figured I might as well take it out in style:

  25. 143.3db out of a trunk, unmodified rear deck, seats up with a single 15, a new NSPL World Record. Found out my alternator was dying and was only charging at 11.6V also, so burps were done in the 10.7V range also, so not too bad for the 1st time out with the overnight install. Another show on April 8th, at that show we'll get serious and throw down some 149-150's with the seats up.
