We have been using a plastic domed pole plug for our cooling option for some time now. I decided to take a new route and these will be shipping as of orders placed today and beyond. They were made down the street here in Troutman, NC Solid aluminum plugs! The shape is a bit more aerodynamic than the old plug as well: Also, being aluminum, the plug itself will soak up some heat.

I started talking about doing this line back in November on Facebook then on CACO. I decided to take it all the way to the prototype phase -- this is what I came up with so far. We are talking $60-70 MAP on these from a dealer ----- Here are some initial photos of the FIRST rough prototypes. I am essentially testing for ruggedness and for the soft parts and coil being what I want first. The motor will likely increase in OD a bit if I can't get Qts down with other methods but I started small to ensure we aren't wasting any costs on making it too large off the bat. Had to get a feel for what % I would be off compared to FEA to go from there. If we go to production the f…

My (2) SAZ-3500 get hot, really hot. Is this common in this amplifier? My Voltage stays around 13.5 on full tilt, and sometimes it'll go to 12.7 on long continues bass notes when on full tilt, when not on full tilt it's 14's. I got a 320amp Alternator from DC and (4) XS Power D3100s as secondary batts. Thanks Jacob

Okay guys. I have decided that the program was too successful to cancel over one sour deal. So... it is back. This is what it is all about for those that do not know: * You contact me with what you have that you want to trade-in * I look up average re-sale value and send you an offer * You can choose to take my offer OR NOT but I am not going to haggle, my offer is what it is * If you choose to accept the offer you confirm with me then I add you to the trade-in list * You ship your amp(s) in so we can test them * You can either send money with the trade or we can contact you after testing for the balance via Paypal * Once the balance is paid, if there is one, we ship your…

Promised I would show some pictures... we got some of our SA shipment yesterday (8s, 10s, 12s, E8s) and it showed up in a nice container with no pallets. So we had alot of fun unloading * First thing we saw - exciting, right ? * Does it end ?! * My view from inside... I was in the container the whole time tossing boxes to the other guys * Expanding dramatically when it came out of the container *laughs* Had to stand back this far to get them all in the picture. We shipped all the E8 v.2 pre-orders today and SA-15 pre-orders will start going out on Monday. DO NOT e-mail me asking when your specific SA-15 order will go out -- the answer is as soon as we possibly can sh…

The frame renderings themselves are not ready to be shared yet but the cone body and surrounds are ready. Each surround has the following calculated geometric capacity : 10 -- 50mm one-way (frame allows 45) 12 -- 55mm one-way (frame allows 50) 15 -- 60mm one-way (frame allows 55) Therefore; each one has a 5mm cushion beyond what the frame can handle in it so the surround CANNOT reach the maximum geometric limit -- as this can cause stress and eventually tear the surround. We've taken note that no open tool / readily available surround can handle what some of our newer designs can dish out already... and future designs will be even more extreme on throw so these surrounds …

We got bored a few minutes after close and decided we were going to smoke a pair of mechanically damaged SA-8s -- well it turned out to be harder than we suspected to thermal these little guys... even the 2" coil SA-8 was able to out-last the Type-R 12" that we tested - I am pretty satisfied with that. Video comment : "Comes online at 69v/9.5A=655 watts so 325 each... crank it up a bit and land at 81.5v/10.5A=855 watts so ~427 each. All the way down at 3 minutes we are still at 82.6v/9.16A=756 watts... we keep playing nice until 5 full minutes elapsed at right around rated power levels then crank it up all the way to 115v/12.5A=1437 watts or 718 each !!! Then continued to…

I have a box on the way from Dave The Box Guy with interchangeable ports and what not and would like to use it for a long time without modifying the sub cut out holes. It is going to be for 2 SA-12s that I have laying around. I was just curoius to see what the cut out diameters were for the Zv4 or X series because I will eventually upgrade to one of them. Thanks everyone. Sorry if the answer is somewhere else, I have looked and looked but haven't found it yet.

I'm about to order a PSI Platform 1 and I want to run it with my Sundown 1000D. On the PSI website it gives you the option to bump it up to 1000 Rms and to change the ohm to 1 and to run 8 gauge wire straight from the speaker and so on. Before I order I want to know how I am going to get the best results. Order the dual 1 ohm? Go 1000 RMS or stay at 750? Go with the 8 gauge as the speaker wire etc. I have 4 gauge power and ground for my alpine also. Do I need to change that? Do I need a extra battery or alternator? Any help would be great. I want to order this sub asap and it's killing me.

Setting up this sa 12 in my brothers car its in a 2.25 ported box tuned to 34hz. It's in a eclipse . if we get the crossover past 60hz the sub sounds horrible. Should the sa be able to play naturally past that say up to 80 or 90hz?

Based on the amount of support required for people who have failed to do their research and install amps properly I may be pulling 0.5 ohm warranty coverage from future "Z" series Class-D amplifier sales. Plenty of information is posted on the forum but I continually get support questions about sub-1 ohm operation. It turns out that 90% of the time it is a gain knob set too high, insufficient voltage, or a load that is incredibly low beyond 0.5 ohms due to wiring errors. Have there been any failures? Not any more than I would expect from just factory defects and user error. I've had one come back that was actually toasted beyond recognition... but that user had an issue i…

Hey followers of Sundown. I am thinking I want to use the SA-8 in my car. I designed an enclosure and am now looking for feedback before I jump in the Sundown pool. Let me give you some background of the car it is going in and the sound I am looking for. I own a 2003 VW Jetta GLI. It has the factory Monsoon sound system with an aftermarket Kenwood Double Din. The factory monsoon amp consists of an 8 channel amp running a component set in each door. The woofers are low in the door and the tweeters are in the A-pillars in the front, and by the door handle in the rear. It gets plenty loud, and is relatively clean. What it is missing however is some low range. I want enough…

March 2011 issue, P54,55 There is a 2nd Gen S10, that has a 15" FI BL powered by a Sundown SAZ-1200 and a 125.2 for the mid/tweets.... Might be a repost, but I think its great to to see some of the cooler brands like this finally getting some play in the Magazines, not just companies that buy full page adds in every magazine they see on the stands.....

Ok I am wandering will a 1500d at 1.5 ohms will put out? I have a 100 amp denso alternator hair pin design i have heard there amps is higher then what they rate them. I have a group 35 battery i think it is 450 cca and i wil be using a 1500d on 2 jbl gti's 12's running 1.5 ohm load. My question is will my electrical hold up or will i need a new battery? I plan on getting a kinetik in the future when i get the money it is a brand new 2009 corolla so all i am really worried about is battery power which i can always turn down the sub bass but will i have to or will the electrical system hold up? I am using Kolossus Fleks 4 Gauge Amplifier Installation Kit and I wish i would…

What are the difference and what makes them similar? I have heard that these two amps are of the same zenon board. I am thinking about buying an atomic amp from someone for cheap but i am not sure yet because I do not know much about atomic amps. Also, this amp is going to be used on two 10" Audioque sdc2.5 subs. I am not interested in competitions but maybe 1 or 2 here or there just for fun. I am mostly wanting an amp to power the two subs with clean power for a good sound. thank you in advance for the replies.

Decided to finally get started on it. The Jeep will be getting a no-wall 4th order build with two 15s. * Battery / Amp Rack area cleaned out... everything un-installed. My multi-channels will sit on those two little platforms where the batteries used to be. * New floor piece cut - everything will attach to this piece. * Of course XS Power D1600s will be used --- That is all for now... just ripped it all out this morning and Brandon helped me cut out the floor piece. Will make progress when time allows.

My car is currently in the shop awaiting repairs from the recent break in. Since I have the time and I have not posted on this forum before, (I think) I was just wondering how you guys feel about these little guys. Should only need 6 cubic feet net ported, and have almost the cone surface are of (4) 15s Just considering something different for a good sounding daily that will drop low and get fairly loud. Power would be from a 3000d of course. Almost forgot car is a 2004 Ford Crown Vic seen here, old setup, just to give you an idea of how big the trunk was, that box was 4 cubic feet net tuned to 28hz I would have to do subs and port up, but I did that with my single RL…

Here it is! Super small little amp Without mounting feet included the new amps are sized as follows : SAZ-1500D: 8.30” x 2.32” x 16.53” SAX-125.4: 8.30” x 2.32” x 11.02” Factory tested power as follows @ 1 % : 138x4 at 4 203x4 at 2 438x2 at 4 I'll be pretty busy for at least a few days but I will get my testing as soon as possible. On to the photos with the 1500D v.3 and the 100.4D revision : * Hard to tell but there are small holes in the board on the right for the fan on the opposite side of the board to breathe. * 1500D v.3 and the 125.4 together * WOW * 99% of the crossovers... only lacking the 12/24dB slop switch. Fixed at 24 dB now.

I just want to make sure I have this right. right now I have (2) 4-ohm 10's in my doors ( one 10" in each door). one 10 on channel three and one on channel 4. (channels one and two are occupied by my tweeters and horns and I'm good there). now, I want to replace them with two sundown neo-pro 10's which are 8ohm. am I correct in thinking that I can wire them together down to 4ohm and then bridge them on channels 3 and 4 to get the most power out of my 100.4? how much rms will that amp produce to those channels in that configuration? Thanks guys
