Sundown Audio

  1. Started by TRZ,

The subs are still going strong. I have been torturing them to say the least and they have been hanging in there. I have demoed them to plenty of customers and still love the expression on their faces when they exit the car.

We are operating on an e-mail, phone, orders, and everything delay right now... currently installing new phone system, new computers, network devices, etc... so slowing down anything computer related. Also have several big shipments coming in starting today and for the next week... then pre-order shipping will commence. This will take up ALOT of time. So please be patient during this time as we will be *extremely* busy.

  3. unfortunately, after re-installing my car audio I found my sundown amp going into protect. It goes into protect immediately; the power light turns on about 1-2 secs later; 5 seconds later the two relays marked with a purple X close/open(click)...; unhooked from speaker; I found manufacture damages that were covered in glue, marked in black; red. In pink there is some rubbing damage to the winding; no metal caps blown; the plastic ones which the top may have some give; each one can depress at-least a mm or so. That's all I can tell visually. I cannot smell burnt electronics; nor are any burns prevalent on top of the board. I've built small circuits and studied them a lot;…

  4. Just wanted to post up our team's results from this past weekend. Jeremy McCord Two 15" Sundown Nightshades and one Sundown 3000D on 80 amps of fusing. Drive-By 2 1st place with a 124.6 Drive-By best of show with the loudest Drive-by score of the day. Corey Mitchell One 12" PBX XS and one Sundown 1500D on 60 amps of fusing. Drive-By 1 1st place with a 120.4 Phat 12 award for the loudest system with a single 12" sub. For everyone that does not know, this is metered on the Termlab doing a 30 second average with the meter 6 feet outside of the vehicle. I did not get any pictures of the show because of the bad weather.

Can a pair of strapped 1500's run a Dual 2 BTL safely? Its below the rated two ohms, but seeing as the power test were dropping insane numbers, I figured it was worth a shot to ask if its been done.

I was driving home from my girls house listening to some of decafs songs I just downloaded and all a sudden my slave amp turned off, I reset my head unit seeing if it was some freak accident and it'd turn back on, but it didn't, so I continued driving home with my head unit off, with it being so late I didn't have the energy to do a lot of trouble shooting. Both amps are grounded in the same spot and share the same remote wire. I checked both 300 amp fuses and they didn't look blown, the remote wire didn't come loose and fall out. What do I need to do to fix this problem? Thanks, Dom

Hi, I am debating on which of these two setups to use, im going for either 1 10 or 2 8 and its down to the x10 vs 2 sa8-v2. Both setups would be with 1000w rms. The two sa-8 v2 would be on 1.2 cf net enclosure tuned to 35hz and the x10 would be on the recomended enclosure. I am looking for an overall good and loud set up that works for all types of music, From Salsa to Hip Hop. Let me know what you all think. Thanks in advance

  12. Just thought I would post some pictures of my 1500D's. I did 149.2DBs with 2 Sundown 1500D's on an 100 amp fuse. The sub used was an Atomic APX. The score was at the headrest. Without fusing during my clinic I did 149.9DBs. All in all very impressed with the amps can't wait to get 2 more. I didn't have much time to test before the show but I believe with a little more tuning I'll be over a 150 at the head. The 149.1 was the second day.

I have a Dual 3-ohm Subwoofer, which i plan on wiring in parallel for a 1.5 ohm load (actually measures 1.55 on digital multimeter). Could I use Two SAE-1000D Strapped with this load? One Saz-1500d would not be enough and 3000w would be to much.

I started talking about doing this line back in November on Facebook then on CACO. I decided to take it all the way to the prototype phase -- this is what I came up with so far. We are talking $60-70 MAP on these from a dealer ----- Here are some initial photos of the FIRST rough prototypes. I am essentially testing for ruggedness and for the soft parts and coil being what I want first. The motor will likely increase in OD a bit if I can't get Qts down with other methods but I started small to ensure we aren't wasting any costs on making it too large off the bat. Had to get a feel for what % I would be off compared to FEA to go from there. If we go to production the f…

My 100.2 was pushing a set of PG RSD's until the passenger side mid and tweet stopped working.....but the drivers side was fine. I replaced the PG's with a set of Pioneer TS-C720PRS and after two weeks I noticed the tweeter from passenger side was cutting out. Eventually the tweeter stopped working all together, and now my mid is cutting out on me......and it doesn't matter if it is at high volumes or low volumes. So basically to sum it all up: The channel that's pushing my passenger side has blown through two different comp sets and I'm wondering if something is wrong with the amp, or if I'm doing something wrong (the drivers side mid and tweet are fine). I don't have th…

when I first installed it, it got hot shortly after, not warm but hot. I though that was odd but left it alone. after of being in use for a few hours the next day it went into protection mode. I drove it to a near by shop, they checked it out and told me the amp was damaged, I did not bridged it, I hooked it up to a 10" sd-v1 (400rms) and I only used one channel so I have no idea what caused it to fail. I'm not sure if this amp was refurbished since I got it on sale? anyone know what I did wrong? Thank you.

great. i have 2 8ohm mids in my car temporary for now until my door panels are done, and ive had numerous amps hooked to those same 2 mids with the same HU settings and all, and on any amp ive used (RF Punch amps, MTX, etc) the sundown 100.2 sounds the absolute cleanest, HU can be turned up alot higher (pioneer 880, usually keep it at 50 out of 62 max) and now, like 55-58 doesnt even distort when before 50 was the most i could go. great amp overall, im really glad i went with Sundown. :bigclap:

When the 10x switch is on, does this apply to both HPF and LPF? or just the one that the switch is "lined" to? Also, something I've been thinking about lately, When bridged to two channel, if RCAs are plugged into ONLY channel 3 and 4, should I be hearing from the speakers that is bridged on channel 1 and 2?

i was wondering...i have 2 sets of components...and was planning on giving them 150watts each..600watts in all for all 4. I figured i could bridge each channel and run 2 comps off of the bridged channel. but the amp is rated for 320w at 4 ohms not 2 ohms which is what they would be running...i dont guess this would work would it??

If I use the first four channels for a front stage (woofer/tweets), would I be able to run a pair of coaxial's for the "5th and 6th" channels in the rear doors. The coax's will be 4 ohm models.

I received my 100.4 and i must say amazing customer service and extremely fast shipping. I am going to run active with Supremo Tweeters and SEA mids. From people's experience should i use the filters from my pioneer 9800 head unit or from the amp?

  24. Started by Lucky 76,

I understand that the 100.4 is 4 ohm stable when bridging. My question is, say I were to bridge the amplifier at 2 ohm putting out the same power as if it were at 4 ohm. So 320 x 2 at 2 ohm instead of 320 x 2 at 4 ohm. Would this still be unstable? The speakers are rated at 320 watts rms as well. The reason I am asking is I can get the same speaker in a 2 ohm version at half the price of the 4 ohm version. Thanks guys!

Alright jst wondering if anyone else exprience this. I have a sundown 100.4 and as soon as you put a fuse in it, it'll blow as I was driving I heard a loud screech guessing that's when it went out. Internals looks clean, all in/out put was d/c and still having this issue ground was checked. Have a 1500d and that amp is fine. Its probably internal just curious if its rare thing.
