Sundown Audio

  1. Started by nem,

Since db-r does not have their forum here I figured I would post this in the Sundown forum. Feel free to move it if you like. I was looking for a 3000 watt amp and checked the db-r web sight and saw they were having a sale on their referb amps. I had some questions and emailed Chris those questions. He responed quickly and assured me I was not only getting an excellent amp, but was getting the customer service got go with it if I were to have any issues in the future. I just ordered it a couple hours ago and look foward to its arrival. Thus far I am very happy with the service I received from Chris at db-r today. I will update upon it's arrival and install.

Finally got all the pieces together and got the system intalled in my Mazda 3. Bought one of the refurbed 50.4's from db-r at the great price they were offering them at to serve as the power for my satellites. Using an old set of Boston Acoustic Pro 5.4's that I've had for years and never did get around to putting into a car for now. The power light adds a ghostly blue-white glow to the interior of my 3. So far, it sounds absolutely amazing.

Didn't sustain any damage to the shop or anything inside the shop. That's the good news, the bad news is that the shop doesn't have power and may be a while before it does. The server is back up (it is not located at the shop) and we do have some battery backup power and a generator at the shop, problem is finding fuel for the generator, things are VERY hectic at any Store that has working gas pumps so we may or may not be able to get things rolling and powered up with the generator. It may be a while (several days or more) before Centerpointe Energy restores the power in the shops area, as we are 45 miles from Houston, and they are mainly focused on getting the powe…

i am in the market for an amp to power my tc-5200. the two i can not decide between are the z1 and the 3000d. will the 3000d put out comparable power to the z1? they are both rated 3000 rms at 1 ohm, and i know the z1 is very underrated. what are your opinions? i know this is the sundown forum, so your opinions may be biased but i figure you know more about the 3000d since it isn't even out yet.

Due to all the negative comments that were way out of line imo on the announcement of the new SAZ-2500D. I think Jake you should post a sticky stating that all Sundown Products and specifications are subject to change due to continuing upgrades, modifications and improvements! This would help clarify to all that Sundown continues to develop and improve new models and older models will be phased out.

Went to local stereo shop, they bought a new termlab meter. I played 36-42hz tones and peaked at 36 hz with a 147.3, did 147.1 playing lil jon (throw it up). Need to do alot of deadening on roof. Running 2 saz-1500ds strapped on 2 bl 18s. The sundown amps are the best amps I have owned, may get 2 more. Voltage dropped down to the 12s. SUNDOWN AUDIO. Also met Justin Adams who is Sundown rep for alabama, very cool guy.

I have it powering 2 speakers in 2 channel mode bridged. One speaker is on channel 1 (Positive) channel 2 (negative) One speaker is on channel 3 (Positive) channel 4 (negative) RCAs: One line to channel 1+3 (using Y-splitter) One line to channel 2+4 (using Y-splitter) It seems to be working fine, but I am unsure about RCA connection, Did I connect it right? From what I've read, if in bridged mode, then all RCAs need to be filled via Y-Splitters. If I have it hooked up as 1+2 and 3+4, then only 3+4 will play (this is coming from the MIDS input of the HU as I am using the 4 channel to power my mids in bridged mode)

  16. So I just got my SAE-1200D in the mail and installed it. Im pretty sure I installed everything correctly. This is far from my first time wiring an amp. The issue I had was that I couldn't get any sound from the subs so I started trouble shooting. I had good power, ground and remote cause the little green light was coming on, I checked my wiring for the subs and everything checked out there so I figured the problem must be in the RCAs. I check the HU to make sure the subs were turned on and they were. I broke out a new set of RCAs and ran them unimpeded to the amp and still got nothing. Then i decided to move the connection from the INPUT to the OUTPUT and voila, I got m…

Well, I finally got around to getting some meter time since there is a local USACi show approaching next weekend. I had never gotten around to testing the new Nightshade v.2's ever since I bought them....I just pulled the Z's out the box and put the Shades in. Before, with the Z's, my best was a 154.9 at 47 Hz I did back in July at Scrapin' the Coast. I've had one show since then and pulled a 154.7 with the Nightshades at the same frequency with a bad windshield. Yesterday after sweeping, I was expecting to see a pretty similar peak frequency when the Z's were in there (approx. 47 Hz)......not the case. I was VERY surprised to see that my new peak is now at 34 Hz! This i…

  18. My buddy just Bought a pair of nightshades and noticed the z series have the same wattage but are cheaper so obviously the nightshades are better but in what way? SpL? Are the z series more for SQ? what's the difference physically about them? For everyday pounding and not competition, what would you recommend? Thanks. Marcus G

I had an issue with my NS-1 amplifier. It is a v1, the second edition of the v1. Sundown wants to send me a v2 in a warranty exchange. I need to know what did they change between v1 (revised) and v2 version. Because they're is a huge price difference to pay. :-( I want to know if it is worth the money to have a v2, or if I'd better have it repaired. Thanks for your help.

  22. I haven't been able to find a good post detailing the differences and improvements between the V1 and V1.5 SA8. If Jacob or someone else that knows could post up I'd appreciate it. Also is the motor the same on all SA8 v1/v1.5? I've seen two different basket styles. Can they be run together? I'm getting some old SA8 v1 motors and need some info. I've emailed Jacob as well, so if I get info from him I'll post it here.

Hi guys I was wondering, does this sub have only one type/version that you (Sundown) sell, or are their options for the sub itself that can be upgrade, changed etc. ?? I know the Fi BTL has loaded options and things like that. Also other subs can be ordered with copper or aluminum coils. But is there only one type made in an 18" size that is sold without less/added features ?

are 3-4 years working with the company as a distributor of the brand in Italy, and I have been here to see a lot of improvements that Jacob was able to do in recent years. A major expansion of components, management, and fame! I'm really happy with this working relationship Unfortunately, the only advice I can give to Jacob is this: He has complete control of all business matters I guess. Purchases, sales, inventory management etc etc etc. Unfortunately, having an excessive workload, I do not think he will be able to solve everything himself. the main problem for us distributors, is the immediate response to our requests and our orders. One of our order, customers can mee…
