Sundown Audio

Heard one tonight... Wow. The owner was Toby from T&J Elite Customs in Oldsmar, FL. Was in an Escalade, probably an 04 or so. Was a SAZ-3000D running a Critical Mass 5000 in a box that was around 3 cubes tuned to 38hz. SAX-100.2 on the Critical Mass comp set. Entire system was 1 12, 2 6.5s, and 2 tweeters. Those components screamed! They sounded great, and blended perfectly. The sub was probably the best sounding woofer Ive ever heard. Couldnt even tell there was a sub, you would think it was actually a bass drum. As good as it sounded, he metered it and it was right at 144.xdbs on the Termlab, legal. He is a Sundown dealer and was playing with the 3000D and hooked it…

I want to run my amps 2 saz 1500ds, one to each sub. But in order to keep them in phase I was wondering if I can set up the RCA's as if they are strapped. I have them set up regular from the HU to on amp then jumped to the next, but the sub off the 1st amp is moving way more than the other. I swapped the RCA's to see if it changed and sure enough its the same way. Any advice?

I know there has been some problems with RCA cables and the amps for some reason. I am considering either of these 2 sets http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KRY4.4M or http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.c...rodID=KARSS4.4M Will they both work and would you recommend one over the other?

I have had my 3500D installed for a while now and its great however when I really crank it up full tilt on music after maybe 20 mins. it will sometimes go into protect. I had a 300 amp circuit breaker hooked up next to it up until today when I switched it out for a 300 amp ANL fuse. I had a problem with the circuit breaker tripping when turned to full tilt also, I think due to extreme vibrations. After replacing the circuit breaker I found it still went into protect once today. I have 2 165ah batteries next to the 3500D and a optima yellowtop under the hood, but I'm still running the factory alternator which I plan to upgrade soon. I have a digital gauge mounted on the da…

im suppose to pick up some more 0/1 wire and another battery this weekend, but now im wondering if i really need it. this is what is getting used, i have a sundown saz2000, and a sax 125.2. i plan on running it at .6 ohms next season. for electrical i have big 3 done, 220amp alt, 1 run of 0/1 front to back, odyssey 1500 up front, and a odyssey 2150 in the back. now is it worth it for me to jam another battery in the back? i know the more the better, but is it really needed? also, would i benefit from another run of pos front to back?? im just thinking if i can save the money i should. thanks

Well first off I have to say thanks to James and Jacob for the great work they have done and the products they have given me access to that I would not have been aware of... Firstly, Here are some new toys... Here are a few pics of the stuff roughly installed with no clean up of the wires. I will take better pictures once it clears up outside and I can getter better angles. Showing how the box contours to the seat... Other side of the box with the 60% of the rear seat down... Showing driver side of box and its contour like the seat. Clearance under the seats... Anyways on to initial thoughts.... Ohh My are these nice... Just had the 250.2 hooked up to the CDTs gai…

If I have two 1-Ohm 12" FI SSD's with the VC wired in series, and the speakers wired parallel making it 1-ohm. If they are hooked into a Sundown SAZ-1000d does that give the both of them 1000 watts (approx) a piece or do they both share the wealth and get 500 watts (approx) each?? In the same aspects of things, if there individually wired with the VC's wired series = 2 ohms, if the amp puts out 600 watts @ 2-ohms, does that mean there getting (approx) 300 watts a piece?? I'm being held by pirates and this is the only thing that will set me free.

  14. Sundown Fans, We have updated our warranty policy to better serve our customers. We already have DOUBLE the warranty period of most car audio companies (2 years vs. 1 year) but we wanted to make it even better. I will copy the entire new warranty text into this post but these are the highlights: 1) ANY return will issued a prepaid FedEx label billed to our account. 2) This means warranty AND non-warranty returns. 3) If your items is *COVERED* by your 2-year warranty you are liable for ZERO shipping costs -- we cover it BOTH ways now. 4) If your item is *NOT COVERED* you still pay shipping both ways BUT you get to take advantage of OUR shipping discount rath…

I read a post the other day about bridging the 100.4 and how it blew the power supply after a few months. Well, what about bridging the 100.2 at a 3 ohm load (like a JL W7). Would it be reliable long term to do this or not?

Well currently I have no room in the back of my SUV. So the only option to mount the amp is on the box. My box is subs up port back. I have room on the top to mount the amp. I put a couple coins, keys, and other chit on top to see how bad it vibrates. It definetly vibrates, but will it be bad for the amp?

  21. So before i decided to put the amp back in the truck after its been out for a year, i decided to just check out the board for shits and giggles, and saw this So i want to get this fixed but I don't have a repair shop near me and it'd cost an arm an a leg to ship it somewhere in the lower 48 to get fixed. If i were to ship it out i might as well just get a new amp, so i'd like to attempt to fix this myself. Idk if the resistors are bad for sure as i cant get to the other side with the dmm to test them. If i could get any kind of help such as where to get parts or anything informative i'd greatly appreciate it. I see on one of the other caps it says "222j 630v" so im pre…

From all of you who have run an SA-12. How will they run off of 500rms? I heard while they are rated at 600rms they need a little more than that to get moving well. But my car has a small alternator and I think 500rms is about what I can pull off safety. I just worry it wont be enough.

I tried to post this under the SSA shop section, but this should do it here as well. First, I am planning to order a Sundown 100.4 tomorrow or tuesday, from SSA depending on how fast my winning bidders pay up on ebay. What I need to know is, Can a set of JL audio XR653 and a set of JL audio XR650csi ( the 3-way set and the 2-way set) be okay on this amp. JL says the RMS on these sets is around 75 watts , and I hear the sundowns are underrated. Will I benefit from this amp, will it need to be ran at a minimal power to preserve these speaker sets? I have a 2007 FJ cruiser, the 3ways are installed already - in the front doors and dash, and the two set is on its way he…

I have a SAE-1000D pushing my front components. I had the amp set to HPF and dialed the filter in to around 125 Hz. I noticed recently that my midbass was non existent. Honestly it may have been that way for weeks and I may not have noticed. My truck is usually hauling around two kids, so no turning up the radio. Anyway, I got to troubleshooting last night trying to determine what was wrong. On a few occasions at high volumes I would start to smell burning. One day last week it was so bad I nearly pulled the truck over to look for fire! It was really, really strong and I had to turn the system off for the smell to go away. I thought it was the VC's in my comps (5…

  25. Playing in the shop One 4500D @ 1.33 ohm on one battery vehicle off. We stuck the mic in the port -- the score you see is 35 Hz. The SA-12s with the screws on them are NOT hooked up at all... the big box is moving them with pressure. It will have alot more power on it in vehicle... we expect good results !
