Sundown Audio

Forgive me if this is dumb, The red protection led came on no my sax 100.4 this morning. I tested the speakers and the right front reads 4.3 ohms the left front reads 5.5 ohms and both bak read 4.2 ohms. I know a speaker short can cause the protection to come on. Is the 5.5 a short or would it read OL on the meter?

  3. Specs are per 8 subs 1/2 of the box, I used bb6 to calculate a box prism w/ a truncated edge, and basically doubled it and put both sides on top one another. Fb is actually the f3 on the picture, and the calculated fb for three 34" long 2"x10.58" ports @ 2.392 cubes is 45.26, but I did not take into account the flared aspect of the alligator mouth style of this box, but added it's length to the port length...so it kinda is a mystery.

  4. I have the original motors and I wanted to know a few things about these puppies. 1) Are the new motors deeper (or any different at all?) allowing the coil more travel or are they close to the original E8, as I've bottomed these out and cause several mechanical failures (I will take this into consideration when I build my next box, 8-16 will be powered by a single 3000D, re-enforce the spiders, ect., design the box to prevent bottoming out, i always set subsonic, but love low extension and will likely be tuning low) 2) The spiders are wider, about all I know, are they stiffer? 3) Is the surround built to handle more travel, is it stiffer? 4) If you happen to have the spec…

Who wants to know what it is ? Here is a hint... it's 1" longer than the SAZ-1000D and it will actually replace the 1000D once the next run of 1000Ds is sold (so if you need one get one). I'll be opening pre-sale soon... coming in with the 2500Ds.

  8. Hi everyone, I know I've read something about it but I don't remember where, and I can't find it ! One of my friend is running a 15" D1 xcon sub with 2 Sundown saz 1000 d strapped at 2 Ohms. He uses the gain remote. Now he's planning a new build with 2 subs and 4 saz 1000. 2 amps per sub. He will have to use 2 remote, and only wants one. What can he do , what to buy to have only one remote to control the gain on the 2 (2)amplifiers ? Thanks for your help

to start i will tell you what i have.... 99 s10 ext cab. 2 15" nightshades v1, saz 3500D, current box is wedge syle, 7 cubes at 31hz, 90.75 sq inches of port, slot port firing up along the back. now ive tried a few things and many box's, i haven't been able to make it loud on the lows, and sound clean, its loud, but its not clean sounding to me. ive tried tuning higher, but then it wont hammer the lows like i wanted it to. so im debating on trying some aero ports, or selling these and buying 4 sa-12's and hoping the play better? what do you guys suggest i do?, also to describe the sound i hear is like a chuffing sound, and gets worse with window open. very hard to explain…

So Derrick came up today and constructed a box for me for my four SA-8s... still two 1500Ds on one Stinger SPP-1500D and one Stinger SPV-70 battery on Powermaster Charger (car off). We built the box from scrap 5-layer pine plywood for testing... we plan to use birch ply for another version at a later date. Results here :

Since my van is known as just a burp vehicle, and I really have been wanting to see what it would in Drive By. For those that don't compete in MECA Drive By is measured with the sensor 54" off the ground and 6 feet away from the passenger door, 30 sec, average no test tones. Mids and highs must be heard. So.... who wants some result?

  19. I am looking for some cool designs with Sundown Audio logo for a t-shirt. I've seen one before, it was with some amp guts in the back ground and the logo in the foreground. If someone can post that in good quality so I can give it for a print out, it will be great. Also looking for other ideas. I am going to make a white tee, so something that will look good in white back ground... but, just post whatever you got.

It may be alive again... drove it around a bit today with no issues. So far we have changed: Coil Rotor button Camshaft position sensor Crankshaft position sensor Going to drive it around a few days to see if I'm comfortable taking it to Whiteville, NC for nSPL clamped power classes Then the real no-wall build will probably start after that.

I plan on running 2 15 Sundown Nightshades on a Sundown 3500 getting ready to build me a new enclosure and was wondering what the key was to be able to pull bad *** hair tricks and if its even possible with 2 15s. The set up will be subs up port back in a 2 door blazer. I heard that port are was the key. Figured I would have 105 in of port area tuned at 36hz. All suggestions are welcome.

  22. So as some of you may know, for some reason some force doesn't want me to get my system together and up and running. My thread explaining previous issues Well i also had problems with my refurbished saz-3000d from db-r which i also started my own thread. Sundown problems SO the sundown came back in the mail today as planned and needless to say, i was very excited. Finally my system was going to be up and running!! I mean, what else could go wrong??? Well, as it currently seems the sundown was not probably repaired. Here's what happened: I hooked up the amp probably as the manual indicated. I set the subsonic to about ~25 hz range. gain was zero. Bast boost was zero. sub…

  25. i've tried 2 boxes, and i've yet to get "there" the first box sounds absolutley amazing, goes really deep. only complaint, it sounds like its hitting the spider maybe?(what i was told) certain bass notes make a metal-to metal sqeaking sound. (defintaly from inside the box, not a car/hatch rattle) 34 to 39hz sounds great, exactly how i loved it specs on box"(26x12x18) .7cu ft behind sub, 44" long port (11sq in. port area) next box: .3cu ft behind sub, 48" long port (10sq in port area) this box allowed the volume to go further before; the bass was a lot tighter, and hit harder; but again, making a metal-to metal clipping/sqeaking sound. it was a tigher, higher hz sounding b…
