well ive built many boxes for my ext cab s10 over the past 2 years, and ive never really been happy with it. Right now im running 3 sa12's on a saz 3500. my box currently is 5.26cubes @ 31hz with 81.25 in2 of port, with subs firing forward, port up drivers side. The box i tried before this was subs forward, 2 6" aeros firing up @ 36hz. I liked the box with the aeros but wouldn't play the lows i wanted it to (but found out later after 2nd box my ssf needed to be turned down, so im not truly sure if it would play the lows i wanted it to or not. Quick gain setting question. I am running the 1000D on a AA Havoc, which is a 1200W rms driver, at 1ohm. When I set the gain using the DMM method to attain an output of 1000W with at an ideal 1ohm load the VAC reading should be about 31.6. However, at this level the output of the driver does not seem to be anywhere near it's full potential. When I actually measured the impedance of the sub wired at "1ohm" it was in the 1.2-1.4ohm range. So my question is should I use sqrt(1000*1.4)= 37.4VAC instead of sqrt(1000*1)=31.6VAC when setting the gain? Also, how do you normally factor in the bass boost, LPF, and sub-sonic filter settings when setting the gain? Thanks!!!!

The 3000Ds are in customs now here on the east coast. If they clear smoothly I may have them tomorrow. If not, I should still get them before the end of the week. Orders will ship ASAP once they come in.

I have 4 X8 V.2 D4's in a ported box. Im looking for advice on what amp to use and should I drop them to 2ohm? And should I run them off of 1 amp or 2. And what amps are recommended. Help me OB1.

Could you run a 4500D on 16v at .5 at it not hurt it? someone told me with the independence rise it wouldnt hurt it...jw if you guys knew he answer o bwt it will be goin on 2 12" BTL's..

im looking to talk to the guys that currently run nightshades. questions for the guys with the stock sub (not been reconed yet) 1 how much power are you runing to them? 2 daily or burps 3 share with me how you like it, questions for the guys with the upgreaded recone. 1 how much power are you running. 2. how do you like the stronger spider? 3 tell me how much more you love the sub after the recone. the reason being, i want to run 2 nightshade 15's on a pair of straped saz 3000ds i have never blown a sub runing daily, and i dont wanna start now! or 1 saz at 16 volts. i was thinking to run two BTLs. but i would really like to stay sundown ONLY>

i will be redoing my install in a few months and wanted to know if maybe i can color match the amps with the color of the car... not really gonna be going to shows just a personal preference, i think the amps would look sick painted... new set up will be 2 15 ns, 2 1500s, and a 100.4, the box is getting built by pete which we havent worked on the details yet but he stated that we might go the horn route... i have a good bit of room to work with, enclosure space to work with is 16 high, 42 wide, and 30 deep... also i have a ohio gen 180/225 alt and getting a d3100 to replace my 2 dekas ( which i plan on selling).

Revised my winter rebuild plans for you guys. These are set in stone now and all my calculations for airspace and port area have been tested with the old drivers. This should give everyone an idea of what is going in. Car is getting a motor rebuild, transmission work, and suspension work done for the weight that is about to go in it right now (this should be most of Winter). I Can't guarantee a time I will release it. My hybrid 18" TC5200 Drivers will be here in a week!

Does anybody know how to replace the led inside of the bass remote for the sundown saz 1500 v1? Also what kind of light it is so i can buy the correct replacement? Also why would my knob make my bass the same loudness at halfway and all the way up?

Today I was doing some testing on a new setup and I got some incredible #s out of my Sundown 1500d. It was running @ 0.5ohm pushing a pair of d2 Kicker cvr 15s. A 50hz test tone was used. The output voltage was 42.2v and the clamp meter read 64.1a of current output. Thats 2700watts w/ rise to 0.65 ohms. I couldn't believe it so I moved the clamp and dmm to the input side and got 315a of current draw w/ voltage dropping from 14.3v to 12.8v. 315a * 12.8v = 2700watts of ouput @ 67% efficiency. Am I doing this correct? I'm completely astounded to see 2700watts out of a single 1500d. In case anyone's interested, the setup hit a 147.3 on a TL legal, sealed, mic on the …

I'm planning on buying a 15'' DC lvl 4 sub (1000 rms, though underrated) Not sure if I want to have it ported or sealed yet. Its a daily driver, No competitions or anything like that. I have an SAE 1200d and an SAZ1500 Which one do you guys think I should use to power my sub? I don't plan to upgrade from this, and I will never strap on another amp. I have a pretty weak electrical so If one is more efficient than the other please let me know. Is the SAZ worth the extra money for my application? I'm going to be selling the one I decide not to use.

Built a box for a guy, he put a little sub in it on a Sundown SAX 100.2 bridged at 4 ohms and took a couple videos for me. I figured I'd share them. I've said it before, the 100.2, while being the smallest current offering, is my favorite amp. A single DD 1008 on a 100.2 bridged at 4 ohms. Tuned low, especially for an 8, but still managed to do a 132.9 on music out of a trunk, and the back seats don't fold down.

First off, thanks to Jacob of Sundown Audio for letting me review this driver I always like listening to lower-power woofers in the 2-300W range, because these smaller drivers show that especially when musical accuracy is concerned, you don't need the multi-kW behemoths that are becoming commonplace these days. Just 300W and a small sealed enclosure is often times all you need to realistically reproduce most anything you can throw at it. For this review, I wired the voice coils for a combined 8 ohm load, with an Xover point of 50Hz @ 24dB/oct. The enclosure was slightly under 1cF, sealed. i want to run (once the saz 3500) a 3500. i was wondering what electrical i would need to do. obviously the big 3 but what kinda alternator and batteries would i need? (also will have a saz100.4 for the doors)

i lost my remote amp controller, and i am looking either for a new that i can buy off sundown, somone that has an extra. or one that i can get that is a different brand that will work on my sundown 1000d. thanks for the help. kevin

I am leaving January 4th and returning the 12th -- so will be back to work on the 13th or so. While I am gone some orders that can simply be boxed and shipped will be completed -- customized items, re-cones, etc will wait until I get back. Some staff will be here but operation will be at limited capacity.
