(I originally posted this in the main subwoofer forum, but didn't realize there was a Sundown specific forum. Since I'm leaning towards Sundown, I'm re-posting here) What's up SSA? Hoping I could get some advice from you guys. I need a sub for my boat, but I'm just not sure which one will be best for my application. I like everything I've read about sundown so I'm leaning in that direction. I had an 12" Alpine type R powered by an Alpine MRP500 in a crappy best buy enclosure...I took it out, and looking for more The new sub(s) primary purpose is to get girls to dance on the boat. Most of the music played will be fist pumping club music, e.g., house, hip hop, and some rock…

Just wondering about some power testing results for the SAX series amplifiers. Anyone ever test these to see what they really pushin? Also, I wouldn't mind picking up some equipment to do my own power testing, what would I need to do this?

All online stores should be updated any time now -- all local dealers have been e-mailed new price sheets as well. If you are a dealer and haven't received it yet let us know as dealer costs are also revised for 2014! The "Team" woofer will likely receive a name change before launch; but we are still debating what it will be -- we concluded that "Team" is too confusing since other people will be able to buy it. Many products that did change changed very little except for big amps and the NeoPro line. I did some massive number crunching to make sure all pricing was on point and mathematically / economically sound for us, dealers, and distributors. Some additional fine tu…

Hey Guys....I recently installed a SAZ 1500D and I am now experiencing engine noise (a buzzing type of sound). I can unplug the RCA's from the SAZ and it goes away. I was told that I should ground both of my amps in the same place and that might help...Well, I've done that and it hasn't helped. Prior to installing the SAZ I had a JL Audio 500/1 and it didn't have any noise. I've even ugraded my BIG 3 and also ran some 1/0 gauge since installing the amp thinking that may help....But the noise still remains. The RCA's are new and I cannot imagine why they would make any noise since they didn't with my previous amp....Is there a possibility that the SAZ has something wr…

I purchased my amplifier from Db-r, The day i got it i hooked it up it blew and started smoking. I sent it in to Db-R they fixed it; The guys at Db-R said the power input was soldered too long and it burnt up and smoked my power supply. They replaced everything under warranty. Today (12/25/09) I opened my Saz-3000d and was just looking around at Sundown's beautiful job at designing/making amplifiers and found this. as you can see the MOSFET's most are soldered in on the top, but there are a few that are not. Is this something to be worried about?

My next build will consist of 4 SA-8's with whichever coil options I need to see either a 1 ohm or 2 ohm final imp. Box will be 2.4^3 net tuned to 32Hz subs up port back. I already have an AP15001D so I could get a second and make an AP30001D. Would be cheaper than the AQX2500.1, but I don't know if the 8's will take 750 a piece daily. I know the AQX2500.1 would be pushing it already. I have ran double rms to an AA Chaos 15 with my AP15001D without any problems. So I know how to watch my system for signs of stress and properly control my volume and gain. Electrical will consist of 140 amp HO Alt, Optima Red Top under the hood, Big 3 in 1/0, 1 run of 2/0 positive from fro…

Is the wired remote control for the SAZ-1500D a bass boost or is it a level control meaning will it boost a certain frequency or will it adjust the entire output level of the amp? Also when I set up the amp, my head unit outputs are 5V so I set the gain on the amp for 5V right? So when I attach the wired remote for the amp, regardless of what level the remote is set to I shouldn't get any clipping? Sorry if it sounds like a dumb question, but I've never owned an amp with a wired remote. One last thing, the SAX-100.4 also comes with a wired remote, does it work the same way as for the SAZ-1500D?

Our new FedEx rep was a good sport and got a short demo. 12x Obsidian Audio 12s 2x SAZ-4500Ds on 16v @ 1.33 ohms We forgot to have the low-tuned loading wall in -- so hair movement not as good as it could be but our rep enjoyed it !

I will be out of town from January 7th to 17th this year for CES and another business trip on the west coast. I will be back to work on January 18th. I will answer as many e-mails as possible but do not be surprised if you don't get a response for a while -- while I am gone the shop will be staffed but some things that I am still working on training others to do will have to wait until I get back or at the least take much longer to get done. You can still reach Brandon or Debbie by e-mail for sales and tech questions : [email protected] -- Tech Questions, Misc Questions. Having troubles setting the gains on my SAE-1000D, i'm hooking it up to an SSA Icon 15" into a 1ohm load and am not quite sure that the DMM should read. I've visted a couple of sites and one person said that the volts should be at 31.6 but that is way to low. Was wondering if anyone could give some incite into this. Thanks.

Just an FYI... they can take anywhere from 1 to 10 days to build depending on how busy we are. Please do not ask for status updates the next day -- it just takes us away from finishing everyone's woofers. This goes for ANY custom job... re-coning a woofer, building drop-ins, NS v.2, Z v.2, etc. We try to keep it down to 5 days or less but it can take longer sometimes !
